The Story Behind Award-Winning PCT Pictures
In this episode, I share some of my most memorable pictures taken during my Pacific Crest Trail hike, including the first-place winner in the 2024 Pacific Crest Trail Association photo contest. Each photo has a peculiar story to accompany it.

I have been inspired and Instructed by your videos. Congratulations on your success. I just got back from my first overnight backpacking trip (57yo) with my son's and a couple friends. We climbed Blood MTN. in Georgia and camped overnight. I have muscle pain in my legs but tears of joy in my eyes. My son made your date bars and they were the best. I share your videos and your inspiration.

Such an amazing honor! You have a gift not only in capturing a moment in pictures, but also in words! It's true, there is something about the PCT that calls you back again and again - whether revisiting a memory, or the trail itself! I so enjoy your videography and photos. Keep it up! Mt. Thielsen - when we camped there last summer it was rainy and we barely saw the peak when the clouds cleared for a moment. It's a peak my son summited with his buddies when he was in his early 20s. He tells the story of his pack on his back and wondering why he didn't just leave it at a lower elevation before scrambling up the loose rock to the top. Anyway, it's a story that brought that mountain to life. Hope you'll be able to go back and try it yourself! Just leave your pack at the bottom!

Thank you, Maureen I appreciate your support and your example. I’m thankful for all your contributions to this channel. I know you’ve helped inspire other would-be hikers to get out. Mt. Thielsen is one of my favorite places in Oregon. If you go just above the waterfall, cross the creek, and up a steep hill, there’s the best place to camp. Simply divine. I’d like to climb the peak one day.

Half way through your video I said to myself, “The PCT really touched your soul”. I’ve said that before, but it is evident, and it is awesome. Great stuff.

Thank you Glen. The PCT was just one of those adventures that has long-term impacts. I was thinking today that because of the PCT, I have a "go for it" attitude. Each day that I'm alive is a gift, and I better not squander the day. That attitude was shaped by the PCT.

Thanks for explaining your journey. It's encouraging me to keep up hope. I love hiking, but have been recovering from an illness for a few weeks and am somewhat discouraged about it. The views of your hike along with the award winning photo(s imho) has helped improve the dreary day I've been having. I love the wild, maybe not the snake part though. I'm with Flash about snakes.
