I love the fact that you matched the rims and tyres - I always thought that was a no-brainier until I started looking closely at a lot of the trailers being towed out there.
Taylor: incredibly concise review of a well thought out trailer. Bravo! Thanks for sharing. We are getting ready to spec out an off Road hiker and your build provides some great build ideas.
Wow. I feel like I just sat through a PhD dissertation on Logic. Watched a couple of Matt's videos earlier, then this gem of "how to live off grid" hits you. Thanks Matt and certainly Taylor, who has built the most practical mobile platform. Communications (internet access, voip, IoT @ broadband speed) is a natural upgrade. That's my gig. This is a really compelling trailer and I'm happy to have stumbled across Matt's interest & expertise. Well done and happy to be a new subscriber. Cheers!
The way the rear stabilizer jacks drop down is awesome. I have an Intech because i needed more flexibility to use it as an equipment hauler, but I must say Hiker trailers a very well thought out.
So much video goodness right here..! This was an awesome walk around, I totally dig that you got so detailed on your electrical system, THANK YOU for that..! And I really dig the roof net for scarves and hats, it's a cool "pro" trick..! And making coffee in bed, you rock..! And that back tire swinger, and yeah, I did watch it twice, the second time I had a note pad to take notes... LOL
I wish I had watched this video before my build, my EOR has a right swinging spare and my galley door opens just like yours...major PITA...wish they'd make it standard....Nice video, thanks Matt! And thanks Taylor for the tour!!
Fantastic use of limited storage space and functional design. Trailer looks tough as nails. Surprised seeing a axle. I would've thought some kind of independent suspension would be incorporated in the build since the trailer looks so offroad ready. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome setup. I like the idea with having the cooler in the car. Especially when in bear country. Would not want to have the bear tear apart my sleeping quarters.
NICE!! I'm planning to order my Hiker next summer & was totally going with the mid range. Now I'm not sure. She has thought of all the options I want. The addition of the water tank may be my tipping point!!
@@MWDAdventures Well, I'm single, 65 ,retiring next year then hitting the road. I want it to be easy to pull & take to interesting boondocking spots. My 1st trip will be the Al-can to Anchorage to see my son & family & spend the summer exploring Alaska. This setup hit most of my bells. The water tank was a gong :-) And you need the off road's clearance for that.
I would have added the 46TM1 Solar Charger and a 66NET panel with the most effective F202169 connections to allow you to use 2000W through a direct impact connector (Y6NB101) or any alternative parts such as the M2201-B models. All on all, the best gear must include an F67MN loader fo the best outcome. Great setup.
I love that size trailer not hard to pull not much to fix on it capable of getting where you would not dare take a 16 ft Jayco or Winnie Minnie. teardrops and square drops are the ultimate to get anywhere camping.
Matt, I am comparing this Intech Chase. Both has no water tank, propane, or sink/stove (I opt out). The Intech Chase cost around $12000. Can negotiate. Again, I choose to opt out many many things because I can bring my own and save a lot of money by not buying from the manufacturer.
This is another level of overland bad-A. I could live with my pup in that setup. the reason for the fridge being in the tow vehicle is spot on. I never thought of that. I always either double witha cooler in it or suffered warm snacks and drinks. LOL. just fantastic.
Beautiful. I think this is the way I wanna go. Just be careful when you have longer bungee cords. They can knock out teeth if they accidentally come loose.
@@MWDAdventures I just stumbled across another company out here that's a hard contender on this version. earthshipoverland.com/services/ Scroll down to the bottom and you'll see what I mean.
Wow that camper has basically everything you need! Well designed and thought out. I am on the fence about putting the cooler/fridge in the back of galley or in the trunk of your car. Anyone else out there have this dilemma pls provide the cons/pros of either choice. Finally, after the trailer was supped up, what was the final cost, incl all options and add-ons? if you don't mind. :) Thank you for the vid! Very informative. Cheers,
Well done very nice set up. The lights on the bottom of the rock rails look like they would be damaged in off roading. Perhaps add the lights to the inside of the rails instead of the bottom.
Awesome setup Taylor, newly separated from my wife of 30 years and I need some space to clear my head and i think you have provided me with the right space to do it....thanks be safe!
Silver Fox- Great video and an even better build out. There was a question in the comments about overall weight and tongue weight of this build. Wa that question ever answered? Matt- Please continue to do what you and your wife do. They are an excellent source of information. Have a blessed day
$22k at time of purchase, including all the cool stuff- 33" tires and so on? the deep cell batteries & solar panel & electrical connections etc? thanks
Matt, thank you for making this video. Taylor, HOLY COW what an amazing setup! I love everything you did with that trailer. Can you or Matt post what the tow weight and tongue weights are with a fully loaded setup? I have a 4 door Jeep Wrangler, so am curious if my 3500lbs tow max and 350 lbs tongue weight max would work or if this is too heavy for my Jeep. THANK YOU for sharing!!!
Definitely a nice walk around and well done trailer. I do have a question regarding insulation (lack thereof) in the walls in hot climates... ?? Any regrets ? do you see huge advantage/disadvantage one not having insulation other than weight and space utilisation obviously ?
