This 100+ mile trek takes us through the stunning San Juan Mountains of Colorado, offering crystal clear lakes, lush forests, and awe-inspiring vistas. Our journey starts from the southern trailhead, as we make our way northeast, taking on steep ascents, rocky terrain, and the heat of the summer.
During this unforgettable backpacking trip, we encounter a diverse range of wildlife, including deer, axolotls, and fellow backpackers. We hike around some of the famous 14ers, and witness some of the prettiest country we've ever seen.
Throughout this documentary, you'll see prototype backpacking gear we were testing, created by Outdoor Vitals. Keep an eye out for more information by subscribing to OV outlets.
Join us as we tackle the first 100 miles of the famous Colorado Trail, pushing ourselves to our limits and experiencing the incredible beauty of this awe-inspiring mountain range.

Say a little thanks to Gudy Gaskell whose hard work, determination and persistence brought the Colorado Trail to life. It was her dream. I hiked those years that she was lobbing for trail funds, pestering politicianss and government officals to make her dream come true. She is smiling down on you guys taking in the wonders of the trail. It is a spiritual experience.

Great video guys! I hiked the CT in 2022. From Denver to Durango took me 21 days with a 4 day break in Salida for my dad's 80th. It rained on me almost every day which kept the temperature much more comfortable for me. Good luck next year on your second section.

The big pack part was crazy but that was definitely me for a few years in my hiking career! Now, I cut almost everything I don't use. I try to get rid of cases and put stuff into lighter bags. I even downgraded from a huge camera to a GoPro to cut weight. The GoPro does more than the big camera did anyways. Great video! Lot's of fun!

Yes for those long trails it is a Godsend. The social aspect of it is great when you are wondering about water sources and people post what it’s like recently. Also, the elevation views are helpful, but sometimes discouraging. A far cry from the old green maps we used to use.

@TaysonWhittaker
@TaysonWhittaker 8 дней назад
Thanks! Pack base weight was around 10-12 lbs plus food and and water. So day 1 most of us were about 18-20 lbs and the last day closer to 10-12. The shirts/ hoodies are the OV altitude sun shirts!

HORRIBLE COMPANY AND PRODUCTS! I ordered the Outdoor Vitals Tern Ultralight Merino Wool Hoodie for my Colorado Trail trip this month. After I pulled it out of the box, I removed the neck tag and tried it on. I immediately noticed a thumb size hole in the center of the chest, so I contacted Outdoor Vitals about them sending me a shirt with a hole in it. They replyed stating since I removed the tag they wouldn't warranty the product. If I wanted to pay and mail it to them I can have it repaired for a possible $20 charge. I paid full price, I should receive the entire shirt. Tayson Whittaker and Outdoor Vitals only want your money!
