An exhilarating solo adventure into the Yosemite Wilderness along the Pohono Trail in Yosemite National Park, California. Starting at the iconic Glacier Point, I embarked on a 15-mile overnight journey filled with breathtaking views and unforgettable moments. The trail offered stunning vista of Yosemite Valley, El Capitan, and Yosemite Falls, making every step worthwhile. As I trekked towards Dewey Point, the landscape transformed, revealing panoramic views that left me in awe. Dewey Point provided the perfect spot to set up camp for the night. Surrounded by the tranquility of nature, I spent the evening under a blanket of stars, reflecting on the day's adventures.
The next morning, I packed up and continued my hike, connecting to the McGurk Meadow Trail which leads back out to Glacier Point Road. This part of the journey offered a serene walk through lush meadows and dense forests, providing a peaceful contrast to the dramatic cliffs and peaks of the previous day. Throughout this solo trek, I encountered and experienced the raw beauty of Yosemite in a unique and personal way. Enjoy the adventure!

What an awesome adventure. That campsite was just unbelievable. I’ve been to Yosemite countless times but it just never gets old. Cool to see you reading Marcus Aurelius, I always find my outdoor adventures the best time to reflect.

The bad thing about these videos... makes me hate the 40-Hr. Has me thinking I need to schedule another trip for July before my trip in August, yeah I was there in early June so what? People always ask me, "Why Yosemite again"? To which I usually respond... have you been there?? If 'yes', have you been to x, y, or z? Everywhere there is awesome, even a couple of hours on a bike around the valley floor dodging the 'normies.' I definitely need to do this Pohono Trail. I've been up and around Ostrander, looped Buena Vista/Royal Arche from Briadalveil Creek (Westfall Meadows is amazing), but not the N. side of Glacier Pt Rd.

Camped right there a few weeks ago in that patch of trees just next to ur camp, used your campspot as a fire and dinner spot! What an awesome place to be I used the Taft point trailhead and made it in about 4 hours with my gf and a few of her friends taking stops along the wary. Bridal veil creek was pumping in your vid! Had much less flow recently, still caught fish though! I absolutely fell in love with the rims of the valley on this hike I can’t wait to go back and see Yosemite falls pumping like that

Hi Scott I have seen just about all your videos and love them all. I have a question for you since you been all over the Sierra’s… I am going to attempt to do the J M T next July 2025 starting from Onion Valley to Yosemite Valley . My question is when I start from Onion Valley in your opinion what do you suggest my first night camp be Charlotte Lake or somewhere near Glen Pass. Thanks for the information and keep your videos coming I learn so much from them.
@Sheety33
@Sheety33 2 месяца назад
Thank you very much. If you are not acclimated, I suggest camping at onion valley then continuing on, but if you are, you could go over the pass and camp at the Kearsarge lakes, then continue on the next day. Better to take it easy than burn yourself out at the start.
@trishlarrysnyder1008
@trishlarrysnyder1008 2 месяца назад
@@Sheety33 Thanks for all the information, I plan on getting there a few days early so I can acclimate, you are so right I definitely don’t want to burn out the first day. In your travels how far is it from the trailhead to Kearsage Lake and from there to Charoltte Lake? (Oh by the way I live in Tennessee) so I can’t do much exploring that area. I was raised in Southern California and hike the Sierra’s many times when I was younger and that is where my heart is… so Thank you again for your videos 😁

As someone from the Midwest who’s done a ton of hiking (Zion, etc) but never been to Yosemite, are the brown bear sightings frequent? Is it dangerous to hike like you’re doing? I hate that I’m too scared to do those things because of a bear mauling me to death, even if I had bear spray-it doesn’t always work out right?
@jtl4714
@jtl4714 2 месяца назад
Nahhh black bears are never really any issue (danger wise). You’re required to have a bear can in the park, but that’s really the only way in which you’d draw bears to your camp. Otherwise, not sneaking up on/scaring them, and being loud before you do is enough to scare them away. Seeing a bear in the park is a blessing! Of course observe them from a safe distance and you’ll be fine. Also as an fyi, bear spray is illegal in the park because you really don’t need it. Also I don’t think there’s record of a bear mauling
@Amplified435
@Amplified435 2 месяца назад
@@jtl4714 bear spray is illegal in a national park? I doubt that.
@jtl4714
@jtl4714 2 месяца назад
@@Amplified435 if I am the bearer of bad news (pun intended), so be it. It most definitely is illegal. It’s actually considered a weapon within the park. So leave it at home and save it for a park like Glacier or Yellowstone which has grizzlies. By doing so you’re keeping the wildlife (and people) safe
@jtl4714
@jtl4714 2 месяца назад
@@Amplified435saw your other comment but I’m guessing it got removed-Thanks for reeling that back. Bear Spray is not allowed in Yosemite because there are no grizzlies, but highly recommended in other parks that do have them like glacier and Yellowstone. Keep bear spray out of the park as it can be dangerous to wildlife and visitors
@jtl4714

Instead of reading a book on Marcus Aurelius, read a book about the native Indians that used live in these majestic places and call it home! And how, they were subjected to genocide, displacement, extermination and expulsion at the hands of your forefathers! Their great herds of buffalo they counted on for sustenance deliberately exterminated to starve them out of their homeland! Never forget the history and the blood soaked hands that made these natives disappear, Marcus Aurelius be damned!
