Worth pointing out that for people less mobile, and those in wheelchairs or with prams etc, the walk around the reservoir is really lovely. It’s dead flat and you can’t get lost👍🏻👍🏻
Cracking part of the world. This is my neck of the woods. Actually did my first wild camp on the gorge and loved it. Jacobs ladder definitely gets your lungs burning but worth it for the views at the top!
I bet that's a great spot for a wild camp. Those steps were actually the first real climb I had done for what seemed like months, was glad to stop half way up to read the sign board 🤣
We were down there last week, staying between Glastonbury and Wells, we walked through the gorge and then on to the reservoir you can see in the distance on your video. That was nice and flat as hubby’s knee was playing up. Day after we did a wookey hole, Ebor gorge, Priddy loop, that was good too. Nice to see cheddar from the top though. Great video.x
Ah, there's loads to see in that area, we holidayed there ourselves a few years back but never got to the gorge... it was spectacular. Thank you for watching!
A place I often take for granted, Trev, having grown up and still living so close to the gorge. I also forget how much the terrain and landscape changes around such a relatively short walk. Good to see you exploring it and capturing it all well in your usual way. A shame to see so many things are still closed - I went up a couple of times over the summer and I'm sure the tower at least was open. Anyway, hope you have a good week, thanks for sharing and all the best.
It was a nice change of pace and location for me this one - and I was amazed how awesome it was, really made more of an impression then I perhaps thought. Thanks for watching, mate - hope that you are keeping well!
Good to see you in Cheddar, we have a place there so walk that often although I always do it the other way round and never take the ladder up or down! There's a good loop onto the Mendips as well if you ever fancied a longer walk. Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video Trev. What struck us more than anything else was how much fitter you are these days. Early vids had you wheezing your way, now your bounding......must be that watch of yours. Can't wait for the review. Well done
Haha! I didnt feel very fit! I think I was at my peak last year, having done the Dartmoor in a day easily and without any aches the following days, but have had a really lax summer this year - so got to get back out.... and that belly of mine in this vid is horrendous... working on it! Cheers for watching!
Ah Trev brillaint to see you here in Somerset, funny you should call it a mini mountain because we think the same! Often used as a micne pie buring post Christmas walk 🚶♂️❤👍 New there would be a cheesy joke or four in here, nearly had a melt down! 🧀 Love the veiws back down over Cheddar, great isn't it. Often find a sneaky camper up there too 🤫🏕 Nice to explore new places, change is as good as a rest. Not a million miles aways from the highest point of the mendips too! Good feedback on your shoes too, they have served you well 😀 Steep sharpe climbs hey. The stress watch sounds funny lol and stressful in itself! Brilliant video and some cracking footage Trev, thanks for taking us along with you, loved it! Have a great week, Ceri and Kat ☕ ❤ ⛰🤗
Yea, a change of scenery really was as good as a rest. Really enjoyed this one, absolutely stunning. If it wasn't for the view at the end, I kind of wish I'd walked back down via the road... absolutely amazing how tall that gorge seems from beneath! Cheese 🧀 for watching!
Good to see you in Somerset Trev! Ever been up on The Quantocks or Exmoor? Well worth a visit if your ever up this way again. Anymore plans/walks on the SWCP coming up? Can recommend a great place to camp if your in South Dorset way 👍
Blimey Trev, you were positively running up there! Without meaning to sound patronising “‘well done!!!”. When I was there back in 2005/6 there were mountain goats jumping around on those cliff faces. Couldn’t see any in her vid. Wonder if they’re still there somewhere. Was pretty amazing to watch them. Made my knees faint. Just like when you were looking over the Rocky outcrops… Stunning views eh ✨ thanks for sharing 👍🏼
I remember going there when I was a kid but did not fully appreciate it then. Shame the show caves were shut, as I do remember those being well worth a visit. That's a long ladder to walk up mind but worth it for the view and I always love a ridge walk, especially with views like that. That watch sounds like it's bad for your health lol, maybe bin it and just have a good time without worry. Cheers Alan
Wow Trev, that's a serious spring in your step you have got there, was hoping for a cheese sampling as well! Another fab' vid', looking forward to the next mountain adventure. cheers.
Yea, was good to get back out. The next mountain adventure coming soon, Alan. Its happened, up on Patreon now, but scheduled into next month on here... ( I needed to get ahead of myself again!) Thanks for watching
Alright trev, looks nice Ill have to visit there.. That watch paired with the Komoot app is brilliant mate. Btw - a good rule of thumb for heartrate is remember 222, take away your age & try not to let your heartrate go above that, so mine would be 222-37=185. So I try and stay under that. 👍
This is kind of right but that actually estimates your projected maximum heart rate, it’s not that you shouldn’t go over it, although the average person won’t be able to go over it.
Excellent overview, a shame everything was closed though. But spectacular scenery. I love gorges and caves and mines... something magical about them all. Take care, Alice.
Great video in an epic location guys. Its always been way too busy for me to get out of the car and explore but after watching this I will have to get back down there and take a gander.
A place I've wanted to get out to see for a while now. Seems like a really cool area, never even managed to drive through it! Looks absolutely stunning though!
Cracking video of your walk around Cheddar Gorge Trev! As you say, it's gorge-ous! 😊 You've certainly captured some fab shots which really showcase how high up you were. Hope you and Nath had an awesome Christmas and a very Happy New Year to you both! May 2022 bring you many more great adventrures. All the best. Cheers, Patrick 👍
Nice one Trev that was gorgeous! First seen cheddar gorge through Tea in Valhalla and have wanted to visit since! Fair play you went to some effort to get decent B roll for this one, you pretty much walked it twice haha, definitely getting the steps in! Another great video as always, all the best.. Day
Been a long well Trev, seems a decade ago since I sat down and watched one of your videos (any hiking videos tbf.) I certainly missed it! Such a brilliant location Trev, proper picturesque and could imagine seeing it in some sort of film! I couldn’t handle one of those watches, I would be scared to death it saying that I’m having a heart attack haha. Well put together and shot as always! Brilliant mate, cheers Joe!
Cheers Joe - it seems its been a while since we made one of these videos. Back now though, got some good stuff lined up, too! Yea - that bloody watch has settled down a bit now, or maybe my heart rate has lol. Been a good purchase to be honest and got me watching my health and fitness closer. Cheers for watching!
Hi Trev, another inspirational vid. Living in Bristol, we have this on our doorstep, with me and a mate doing the same route as you, although we did it in the reverse to you, so that last decent of yours, was our initial ascent - geeze was that hard with 19kg on my back!!! I have stock footage of this, plus around 5 other outings. I qualify for your shout out, although I've been battling depression, so haven't had the get up and go to publish - I will in the next month I hope. Look forward to your next vid mate. Take care, Rich and Annuschka.
Hi Rich - thanks for watching. Yeah, that must have been a killer hill with 19kgs on your back - I would have collapsed under that. I recorded the video for the shout out today, but lucky for you (not so much for me) the bloody mic didn't work and I have to re-record it, so if you find the post and pop up a small bit about yourself, I will gladly give you and Annuschka a shout out!
Went there 40 years ago...it's exactly the same ! Hey Trev your fitness level has gone up massively, wouldn't you say...Four years ago do you think you could have run up steps like that ?
I think last year I was a lot fitter - felt it slip away over the past several months... getting it back up now though! And, belive me... i didnt run all the way up those steps lol
@@SummitOrNothing yeah but 4 years ago you would have had to stop 3 times, have a brew and a vape. Get to the top, celebrate with a gin and tonic. On the way down, complain about knees or boots. Then you'd get off track and have to either walk an extra mile or cross the Grimpin Mire. Then find you are locked out of the car. Now you run up mountains like a "Boss."
That were a "sprightly" trot up them steps... If it were me, I'd be panting at the top for 10 minutes... Probably need a foil blanket like I'd run a marathon. 😂
It's the Garmin Active Solar.... there is a link in the video description... was on offer too... not sure if it still is. Its been great, challenges me to up my exercise each day, great for tracking my walks, I have even started to lose that belly since having it too.
Hi Trev. Pretty spectacular place! Hard to imagine the power of the meltwater to form that! Great video👍 Those Columbia shoes...if they do get a soaking do they dry quickly? All the best👍👍
I know you’ve got the watch Trev but did you get a facial too???!!!! You look really fresh!!! I was bricking myself a few days ago just 100 feet up on the Menai Bridge. That’s high! Hope all well bud!! Paul
Haha! Must be a filter of some sort lol. Yea, this was a high view alright, wouldn't have got so close to the edge on a blustery day, mind you. Cheers for watching, Paul, hope you're keeping well.
Beautyful. Looking at the filming you've done you must have climbed those cliffs twice. Shame though there's a road through the gorge, that does spoil the view a bit.
That road has probably been there in some form or another for centuries... easier to go through than up and over I should think. Its a great place to visit, though.
@@SummitOrNothing You're probably right about a road having been there for ages, but the sight of cars racing through this spectacular landscape still hurts the eye. Thx again for climbing all those inclines twice to get the best footage!
