I’m even more impressed with my daughter’s accomplishments after watching the hike. She is a trail runner and ultra marathoner all at elevation. Trail runners are definitely a different breed to be able to run these trails. She trains running the collegiate peaks near Buena Vista which are 14,000 ft. Just finished running the Colorado Trail between Breckinridge and Buena Vista and camped along the trail with the help of a support team setting up camp at different spots along the trail. But basically running the equivalent of a marathon every day for five days straight at these elevations is nothing short of super human in my opinion. And she does it for fun! And maybe to accomplish some personal goals. She’s 46 by the way. Your video just made me appreciate what she does even more. Thanks for that.

Great video of the area. Yes, many hikers underestimated the impact the elevation has on their body. and get into trouble. I'm glad you two were reasonable about what you could do. It;;s no fun having altitude sickness and still have to return to a lower elevation. Been there, done that, and no thanks not again. Glad you are mindful. Always listen to your body. I used to live in Flagstaff, AZ-this town is 7,000 elevation. There is a lot of hiking in Flagstaff and the area. Humphreys Peak is 12,600’ and there are other hikes with a little lower elevation. Sure did enjoy being in great shape for all those years from hiking there. The Grand Canyon is there too.Now I live at 2,200’ elevation. You two did a really hard hike and its so beautiful.

I enjoy all of your videos but this one just hit home aka "while you're doing it you hate it...when you're done, you're like, I loved it" :) Almost exactly 2 years ago, a friend of mine, whose last name happens to be Byers, hiked Byers Peak while she was bike touring. You should also keep Mylar blankets in your pack. If you get hurt, it could be hours before someone gets to you. It gets cold, as you know. Where is your bear bell?

WOW awesome hike! When I lived in Wyoming and I took my first bicycle ride I couldn't figure out why I couldn't catch my breath. That's when I remembered I was at a higher elevation and needed to acclimate slowly! Where did Kellie get her straw hat? It looks like a well made quality straw hat. I looked through your items list and don't see it listed there.

You may want to have some bear spray to protect against mountain lions too. It's estimated that there are between 3000 - 7000 in Colorado.
