At 55, 15 years ago, I hiked Preikostolen on a 3 week trip to Scandinavia. This brought back the best memories. You see I have COPD and so was a real accomplishment. Take away from this hike 1: no trash 2: no signs warning not to go near the edge (Norway respectively allowed for common sense) 3: the camaraderie of the people, the multi cultural aspect, despite being one of the only Americans up there and having difficulty with breathing when I got back to the bus, people clapped. I am so glad I did this as the beauty and exhilaration of feeling on top of the world will last the rest of my life. I felt this same exhilaration virtually traveling with you. Thank you.
I know I will never get to go there so I’m so glad you can and you film it ,wonderfully ,so beautiful, thank you, and it’s amazing what God has created.
Totally gorgeous (pun intended) scenery here, Jarl. You obviously have no fear of heights! The Kjeragbolten footage made my palms sweat. That being said, you offer views of the fjord not available being on a cruise ship. Norway indeed has some of the most unusual and beautiful geography unique to the planet. Thank you for sharing.
I was wondering when we'd finally get to see the Norwegian Xplorer in his native habitat. It was definitely worth the wait! This was an absolute treat to watch!
I’ve watched many of your videos and this is one of my favorites. Love the wide shots showing how high you are. Also liked that it was a day hike but with so much to see. Awesome job Jarl!!
Oh hell no! Just when I think it can't be more beautiful, you go and hike in Norway! Not only can I not do this any more, even in my younger days, I'm not sure I would. Yikes! But thanks again.
I was just telling my husband “I wish he would do a hike in Norway” and voila! Here we are. Though I watched the whole thing with a pit in my stomach because I’m afraid of heights. You’ve got to stay away from those edges, LOL!
😮 !!!!!!! It’s amazing to me that for a place that “seems” to b unattainable so many ppl go there henceforth the rock formations which r beautiful ! Forgive my ignorance but I see no snow so where’s the water n the fall’s coming from ? I would LOVE to taste that water n feel all those rocks n smell the air up there. U too Jarl r amazing to b able to keep up these filmings while constant climbing. U must b n great shape but I sure ur heart n lungs n legs must burn as u keep going. But look at what u create. It’s wonderful. N bless the Sherpas ! I do believe they may b the toughest ppl on earth. Incredible ppl ! I think I would love to repel off those cliffs. Maybe not. Loooooong way down. Thank u Jarl…….for adventures such as these !!!! 🫵👍🙏🗻❤️‼️ TJ
One of your many breathtaking videos ! Brrrrr..... I hold my heart as I watch you turning around yourself on that boulder, filming the scenery 360 gr. with your camera.... Spectacular ! The roughness of the stony plateau has an overwhelming majestatic beauty. You make us look into dizzling steep dephts. Gorgeous views of the fjord and fjells, so real as if I were "live" at your side. I never have visited Norway, but your films offer us a unique occasion. They show us your deep love to your country Norge. I'm looking forward to your next norwegian film on 16th of september !! Thanks, Jarl, from Belgium, Flanders, from our beautiful city of Ghent.
@@NorwegianXplorer Thank you so much, Jarl, takk (!) for reading and answering my comments ! Listening to your comments in the videos is for me a good rehearsal of my English, my own languages being Dutch (Flemish) and French.... :-) :-)
As always, a superb visual cinematic experience for thy eyes. So beautiful! I will never tire of your videos, so please keep bringing us more awesome content. Tusen takk Norwegian Xplorer & happy travels/hikes to you!
So beautiful. The fall atmosphere makes this video quite mysterious. I've been to Lyse Fjord 2 years ago. Preikestolen of course 😁 It's an outstanding landscape as the complete fjordland and fjell areas. Norway is such a beautiful country!
Wow! Spectacular! Thanks for sharing this amazing hike with us. Its wonderful being able to see other parts of the world whilst enduring Covid-19 lockdowns here in Melbourne, Australia.
Simply Fantastic !! Possibly the best KJerag video ever !! Spectacular photography, very exciting. I've been to Norway about a dozen times. Always manly Oslo, Bergen, Fjord areas. Went in Lillehammer in 94, Geiranger in 2018. Super excited to hike the 3 big ones. Not sure if my hiking legs are ready. Thanks for your hard work and an awesome up close and person video.
Beautiful but the height was making me dizzy, so I couldn’t finish viewing it. I stand in awe of your abilities to photograph all that beauty and hike at the same time.
I had been there with my friends & that was unforgettable memory... & this video again remind me of mine......Video is awesome...... Thank you for the video.
Just love Norway. Have been there on 3 occasions and never been disappointed, well a small fib, the weather can be more miss than a hit but being from England , sort of use to it. Love the friendly people and culture. Thanks so much for the video. Good health to you.....Doesn't Lysefjorden have Pulpit Rock, that is impressive.
Just found this channel. It blows my mind how much you hike in U.S lol I feel like nothing is more beautiful than Norway, your home country! Can't wait to go. Hoping Summer 2021
Thanks for this one especially as I have relatives in Lysekloster and I would so much love to go there! Maybe someday...Fantastic video as usual! Happy Trails!
@@NorwegianXplorer Just, Oslo. Regular flights were too expensive and no Ryanair flights. Ryanair flight would've put us some 70 miles south of Oslo and housing was expensive too. We decided on Valencia, Spain instead. Next time! I'm looking forward to more of your hikes in Norway. Thank you!
Thanks for the upload. Great as always! Norway is one of the most beautiful countries I've been to! Very friendly locals as well. This video brought back pleasant memories :) We didn't go past the boulder during our hike, so it was nice to see that part. Looks amazing! It was more crowded when I was there a few years ago. Must've been nice to enjoy this hike with less tourists. Would love to see more videos of Norway in the future ( and learn the correct way of pronouncing names from you). Haha. Safe travels!
I really wish that RU-vid had an `awesome' button in addition to the like button. These videos, and this one in particular blow my mind. Was in Jutland a few years ago; next time, Norway.
This is great that you did a video in Norway. I’ve done several backpacking trips in Jotenheimen but I haven’t made it to the areas that you are depicting in this video yet so I especially appreciated it. You should consider being a tour guide for one of the DNT walking tours.
I’ve gone three times over the last five years. The hike up to Glittertinden would make for a great video. Just below Glitertinden is a little used trail along Nedre Steinbuvann Lake which can be used to make a loop along with the popular trail up to Glittertinden. The nature in some parts of Norway is so similar to Yosemite that I’ve often thought that you could teleport a Norwegian to Yosemite and he wouldn’t realize he had moved. Great job with the videos and keep up the good work.
@@collenyoung2812 Thats awesome, I am planning to go to both Glittertind and Galdhøpiggen at some point, funny that the highest mountain in Norway is only 8000ft, you really think its similar to Yosemite?
@@NorwegianXplorer Yes, Galdhopiggen is fairly low in elevation, but being on Galdopiggen feels like Mt. Everest since it is so high above the treeline. Not to mention the glaciers in Norway, which make the elevation seem higher than it actually is. Some parts of Norway look a lot like Yosemite Valley to me, especially the lower elevations around the fjords that have a lot of waterfalls and forests. Hetch Hetchy looks a lot like a fjord, even though it is a man-made lake. I look forward to your Jotenheimen video if you should choose to make one.
I was hoping you would put on a wingsuit and soar down to Lysebotn, but then I remembered this channel is called simply “Norwegian Xplorer” and not “Crazy-Ass Lunatic Norwegian Xplorer.”
I appreciate hearing you pronounce the names at the beginning of the video. Throw some more Norwegian at us sometime. Talk about a language you never hear.... Also, you gave me vertigo when you stood on that boulder. Don't die would ya, we want more videos. Specifically of Norway...it looks like a fairyland.
still a great video (but there are a lot of commercials🤪🤪) I'm completely addicted to your channel I love thumbs up👍🏼 as usual and hello from Normandy in France 🇨🇵 do you tell me with what you are filming with ❓ (because the quality is really awesome💯)
Thank you so much:-)Hello to you in Normandy, thanks for joining me in my adventures:-) I film with an iPhone 11 pro max, some of the shots in this video is also with a new gopro 9, which I am just starting to use.
Great video... some incredible views... the view from the Bolt was impressive... my knees were weak just watching you standing on it... what is the water source for the waterfalls on top of the fjords..ice, springs?
Thank you Gary, I am not really sure about the water source, there a a lot of lakes up there and they may be snow fed earlier in the season, the bolt was a bit sketchy because of the high winds and its a long way down lol
