I came back for the hike that I was not able to do last time. The trail to this turquoise river should not be taken lightly. This is not only coming from me but also experienced hikers and backpackers. Those people who do 14er mountains and Grand Canyon rim to rim in just a day. I admit I made a mistake by doing this as a day hike when the original plan was to overnight camp at the bottom of the canyon by the river. But I think that's the best decision I ever made on that day. After a few hours hiking back to the top, the turquoise water turned to brown when the rain started, and water came in from different sides of the canyon. I was honestly thankful for the rain as well, as I was getting toasted alive in the canyon. Halfway up, there was no more shade to hide and rest. I was the happiest person alive when the clouds rolled in for shade and started to drizzle.
I was mentally tested this day aside from the strenuous physical activity. There was a point that I broke down but told myself this was not the time to break down but the time to be stronger than I ever was. I have learned a lot from myself this day. If I could go back in time and redo this hike, I wouldn't change anything as my experiences made me who I am today.
