Remember Micah, every mushroom is edible once. Loved the trout and the mountains. Heck, that stream even looked nice to fly fish in a few places. Maybe give that a whirl. Please post more videos like this.

Well that mushroom is chicken of the woods. It's edible multiple times. It's actually a choice edible. I'd put it up there with morels and chanterelles.

typically, when stream trout fishing, you want to fish heading upstream. that way you can cast ahead and have your fly/bait drift down. They are usually facing upstream as well to get drifting food, so they have a lower chance of seeing you

What you found was definitely a jackpot of chicken of the woods. One of the best choice edible mushrooms in my opinion. Make sure you do your research if you do try it and cook fully as well as try a small amount at first. Usually you’ll find them on wood in the summer. Good find and good video!

That little fish was chub!!! Not a pike minnow! It’s native to the App. Range and can get in trouble with DNR over that.

I cant tell you are more a boat guy. Like the boat and the lake or the saltwater canals. Ace gets off more on exploring the hiking and the little pools of life. Even his hawaii snorkeling stuff and shorefishing stuff has a similar vibe. You are after bigger quarry

I used to use canned whole corn for both trout and crawfish. Just fill a hook with canned whole corn. IDK why but it works

Definitely chicken of the woods mushroom. Its the consistency of chicken but tastes like a mushroom. Very edible. No poisonous look a likes.

Chicken of the woods. The only look alike has gills as far as I know. I think called jack o lantern? You didnt show underside but from what I could see it was a poly pore not gilled mushroom. Chicken of the woods is very tasty! And can grow in huge clumps like 20 plus pounds! Heard over 100lbs. Last one I found I didnt take it all. And still cut it in 3rds and gave other 2 thirds away to friends and we all still had a lot! Definitely a scenic video! The hike, stream and even the plate! :)

Hbd man That fish you yeeted onto the bank was a creek chub lmao. They are minnows that grow pretty big but they are not destructive like pikeminnow. They are good for feeding big trout with their babies.

That is indeed chicken of the woods. A choice edible mushroom. I ate some a few weeks ago. Fry it up into chicken nuggets. Just make sure it isnt too old. It can get a little tough or buggy if it is too old.

Those look like chicken of the woods mushrooms. They taste great. I have heard before not to eat them if there growing on conifer trees. Iv seen one other mushroom that looked similar but it had gills on the bottom instead of pores. Chicken of the woods always have pores.
