A hot summer weekend in the Swiss Alps climbing through one of Switzerland's richest geological areas in search of a camping spot.
This summer I start my great adventure across Switzerland: hiking the Via Alpina green trail. The third stage of the Via Alpina hike is a long leg from Elm to Linthal. My path takes me across Richetlipass and through Glarus's geologically rich area for scenic views.
As this year's Via Alpina Explorer, I will hike 260km across Switzerland from Sargans to Kandersteg, climbing 15,000m over 9 alpine passes. Over the next three months, I will hike every other weekend, building to an eight-day hike in August. It will be full of wild camping, Swiss culture, and physical challenges.
