In Wilder Places is for outdoor enthusiasts to get inspiration to enjoy more time in nature.
Wild is a state of mind. Or rather a journey, a venture to find something sleeping deep within us. Tag along as we venture to find the wilder side of life.
My name is Soninke Combrinck, and I created In Wilder Places to share my stories of adventure as I explore the world around me. I am a writer and an interactive storyteller based in Switzerland, looking to connect with my wild.
Wow.....i was here today.... Its amazing. I started in zug at my Apartment and walk until Sattel..... 22km... Cant wait for the Next time... Thanks for your amazing videos.
@@InWilderPlaces I am! I fly to Zurich on August 2 and have most of the month to tackle it. Can I ask what kind of camera and film editing software you use? There's so much beauty, mindfulness, and presence in your films.
Hi! Just finished this trail and boy i did sarans until after foot-pass and camped. Than hiked until elm again. It was exhausting. I couldn’t stop at foot-pass due to the wind and how cold it was. I camped inside the shelter (cheese factory) near footpads.
I know the Via Alpina is quite an experience this year with all the strange weather we’re having. Glad you managed to do it safely. I know those passes are a lot of work, but I always appreciated the views they brought. Do you plan on hiking any more?
Great video, thanks for creating it. I'm planning on doing this route this summer, how did you find the difficulty of the Hohtürli pass, was it easy to navigate?
Oh that’s exciting! It’s a great route! The pass is okay if you have patience and hiking with poles helped me a lot. When descending towards Kandersteg the pass has lots of loose stones so I would avoid in rainy weather if you could, otherwise just be careful. Happy hiking!
It is a grey area in Switzerland, you are correct. I think they are quite strict regarding wildlife or nature reserves and ideally you should be above the treeline, as you said. Otherwise if you are on someone’s land you can ask their permission and then it’s okay to camp lower down. I imagine trees are important for a hammock tent - I hope you manage ☺️
@@InWilderPlaces Thanks. I just came back from Switzerland. Wildcamped below the tree line for 4 days. Didn't get busted. But got bitten by many ticks.
Hi It must have been an extraordinary adventure😮👍🍀. I like very much the narural way you show the beauty of nature and your hike. I've been watching whole your video while exercicing to prepare myself for my hikes this year. It was a pleasure and additional motivation💪. So perhaps see you on the trail and have fantastic next adventures which I hope to find on your channel... Greetings from Poland! Tomasz
It was lovely! I still think about it often ☺️ Thank you for your kind words - I’m glad the videos helped to motivate you. Are you hiking the Via Alpina this year?
I plan Picos de Europa in May, Iceland Laugavegur in summer and Alta Via1 Seprember/October. Via Alpina is my plan for short hike in summertime with my 9 years old son Leo... More serious hike in 2025 🙂 Are you hiking there this year?
@@Thomas_relaxation the Via Alpina in Switzerland or elsewhere? I hope to do some more weekend overnight hikes this year :) and also a few days in Norway again. Maybe Jotunheimen
Yes, in Switzerland. I made a few options. From Lauterbrunen or Engelberg. Hikes with wildecamping are most tempting🍀💚 so I perfectly understand😏🌌 Norway is on my list too. Lofotes Islands as example... I'd like to hike there in summer next year and maybe more also in Sweden like Kungsleden. But Jotunheimen sounds perfect to me. I would be glad to meet you somewhere on the trail...Jotunheimen or wherever😊
