I hiked with some new friends on the Ramsey Cascades trail in Greenbrier in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This is a fairly tough 8 mile (out and back) hike to the tallest waterfall in the Smoky Mountains and is also one of the sections of the park with old growth forest that wasn't stripped by lumber companies. We also had the falls to ourselves this trip which is not a common occurrence.

I hiked this trail twice over 10 years ago now. I have an extreme fear and heights and bridges and crossing that footbridge at 6:58 was not easy for me. It wasn't bad crossing going up because i feel like my right side is my dominate side and i was using my right hand to hold the rail. But coming back was a different story. I hiked by myself the first time and i was so scared to cross it coming back. I had to sit down and contemplate it for a good 10-20 minutes. How am i going to get home and i'm stuck with fear. My life was flashing before my eyes lol. The thought crossed my mind if i could go around the bridge and walk across the water. But i eventually fought the fear and did it. I really wish it had hand rails on both sides.

Some of those bridges can be scary. Some of them have no railing at all. One time I completely froze on a railless bridge and couldn’t cross. I completely understand!

Hello Gretchen, thank you for another informative and entertaining video. Despite the precipitation you had some great footage. If you are still considering a trip to the California Sierras this year, you will need an ice axe, crampons, snowshoes and a sherpa guide. The higher elevations are getting dumped on again. Day time temperatures are beginning to warm. The water falls at Yosemite will be awesome this year. Ramsey Falls is incredibly beautiful. You be safe out there and have fun. 🤗

Excellent look at this trail. Hiked it in 2009 and it was great to see it in such detail in this video. One of those trails I'll definitely hike again someday. Thanks for taking us along.

Thank you for showing the tougher section of this trail. No one seems to show it in their videos. Guess they are too busy hiking it to hold a camera. :) Very helpful research for our attempt possibly next week. Now I know what to expect. Such a beautiful trail!

I hiked in the GSMNP in 1983. I most likely won't be going again, so it's a treat to go along with you. I still like to visit the area. Thanks for the video!

Sooo I got caught in a thunderstorm on the way back and I was hiking solo. 4 miles on the slippery rocks and I was the only one left on the trail. Stuff of nightmares but I made it lol

Love seeing so much of the trail. Just wondering; is it hard sometimes to know which way to go or is it easy to stay on trail? I would love to do this trail but it looks like I may get lost.

This trail is pretty easy to follow. The only sort that may seem difficult is the last half mile with all the rocks but it’s not too bad. It’s well maintained by the park.

I know y’all have had flooding out there and tons of rain, then snow and ice with temps down into single digits. I see you uploaded May 6th but out of curiosity, how recently is this? I’m hitting the smokies spring break and the forecast seems to be good temp wise. Just trying to feel it out. Love your channel btw!
