I love the honour system pay stations. I'd probably stick to the marked trails because with my luck we'd get lost in the wilderness. That trail looked really rugged, but the views were amazing!!

I don't think Skylar and I would have gone on the adventure by ourselves, and to be honest, IF we hadn't run into those other hikers when we did, we probably would have turned around. I guess it was meant for us to hike there because we didn't see any other hikers on the trail the rest of the time we were there!

Unplanned adventures are often unexpected treasures. I would not recommend this hike for beginners. It seems like it was easy to get lost on. However, the view looked amazing. I m glad you found it. Safe travels!
You are right about unplanned adventures....and this hike. It is NOT beginner friendly. We are very thankful to have been able to enjoy it without getting lost (other then veering off the trail verrry briefly). Thanks for watching and Happy New Year!
Glad you could park your car close by, it's a lot of walking but the panaromic views along the way are so worth it. Devil's Court House has some breath taking views!

So many amazing lookout points, seems like straying off the main loop was definitely worth it. That's a little unnerving that the trial wasn't marked, but seems like you sorted out getting through it without getting lost. Love the potos at the end!!
This was quite an experience since when we were on the trail, we didn't have any idea that it was so extreme 😬 when we looked it up after the fact I was kind of thinking I am glad we didn't know about it, or we would have stayed away and missed out on the views at the Devil's Courthouse. The views are just breathtaking! I’m not an experienced hiker so I’m not sure that hike to the Devils Courthouse would be totally suitable for me. The rugged, unmarked path was quite an adventure! Good thing you met the other hikers to show you guys the way. The views are so worth it! 😊
We really were lucky to meet the other hikers, we likely would have turned around if we hadn't talked to them. There were the only other people we saw on the trail, both out and back. Thanks so much for watching and Happy New Year!

Still to early to see how the year is going to go though 😆 Yea we had not found a trail quite like this one before, since it isn't marked we could only find blog articles that others have wrote about it and that is where the confusing comment came from - and we would agree, it was a bit confusing! Whiteside is one of the better views around! You guys caught some beautiful shots, I've never been up in the Fall so it was cool to see the colors! Did you go through Asheville/Brevard to get to Cashiers? If you went up the Mountain in Cullowhee through Sylva then you passed my campus! Hoping for a Happy New Years to you guys!
It was so beautiful, we hope you get to experience it in the fall :) We drove from the Maggie Valley area, through Sylva to Cashiers. In our next video we have some footage of stopping through Sylva. We had no idea we were that close to your campus! The next day we drove from Cashiers through Brevard to Asheville. Because of some of the trails you posted we did wonder if we were close to where you are. We love the area, next time we plan a trip we will let you know! Happy New Year :)
That is a great question, we have gone on two different hiking trips around North Carolina. We have not encountered any on our trips, but we have hiked in several areas where it is possible to see bears. We have heard that when people do see them, if you respond appropriately they don't bother you, but we do carry some pepper spray and a knife just in case.
