To be technical youtuber need time and research, i have shots from 1 year ago but people who didn't know they don't have any idea about video productions. I appreciate videos like this, so informative.
As usual, fantastic video. I’ve gleaned lots of useful info for my biz here in Toronto, Canada (been installing HIK for about 10yrs). Keep up the great work and stay safe. I’ll drop in the next time in Cardiff (I visit once a year - in non-COVID times).
@@DVSLTD People often don't appreciate the amount of time that it takes to make videos like this. Especially with this level of production quality. 28 minutes of content might have taken 5-6 hours or more between scripting, filming, post processing, and editing. If you get a chance, please give us on an update on the accuracy of the Acusense features after you have it in the wild for a bit. As we talked about before, I spent a good part of the earlier part of my career chasing false alarms as a patrol cop. Motion detection with a low rate of false positives is a holy grail in the world of security technology.
@@DVSLTD We should definitely stay in touch. Always good to collaborate with others in the industry, especially when they are across the pond (read: not competitors). I'm going to send an email through the DVS website. Always good to have other guys to bounce things off of.
I upgraded to 4k ColorVu cameras, for me they are a game changer. Perfect image quality, even at night. I have 1W LEDs as outside lights, that's fully enough for them. Even a full moon is enough. I don't know how they could improve that on further generations.
So to be clear, are you saying @ 14:40, ColorVu does not require an always ON white light when it is pitch black? In so many examples out in the wild I get the sense there is an always running white light so as to get the color imagery, no? However, later @ 19:45 u turn on the supplemental light. I presume this is the supposed "always on white light" being activated now. Correct me if i'm wrong. I'm hesitant with ColorVu only bc i am not liking an always visible white light at night BUT i still want the color and clarity, if that is possible.
As well as more resolution, the dark fighter had more detail further away because the lens aperture is smaller which gives more depth of field (the more of the scene from front to back which is in focus). Full colour at night is achieved on the colorvu because the lens aperture is fully open at f1 to allow max light in but with a trade off of shallower depth of field meaning less of the scene from front to back which is in focus. I understand this because I’m a photographer as well as a cctv engineer 😁
I've always gone by the rule of useful distance an face can be from recognised. With a 3mm lens and 4MP it is 12m, (3 x 4) or 3mm and 8MP = 24m, this the limit to recognise a face. Anything beyond that I don't think it is a usable image, I normally reduce this by 50% in IR mode (B&W)
I have been researching for upgrade soon and watched you video on the 2t47 and see hikvision do a 2047g2 and a 2087g2 which look amazing on spec..Will you guys being do reviews on these at all... as with many comments day footage on most cameras is amazing but night vision blur and ghosting and hope finally the colourvu go has done away with this problem.....cheers
@@cjkokay yes but colorvu cameras will display number plates at night as long as there is enough supplementary lighting. As we know this isn’t always achievable with IR
creo que es muy buena ambas camaras. en mi opinion creo que seria mejor una ptz considerando la distacia. ya que solo es posible distinguir tu rostro a solo 15 metros. muchas gracias por tomarte el tiempo en mostrarnos ambas camaras.
I want to upgrade over my current Hik Multi focal domes which are great in daylight but the domes always seem to get dust, insects and glare to limit night IR. But I wonder if the white lights would be too bright i.e. annoy my neighbors or blind passing drivers? How intrusive, or maybe how intense, are the white lights?
That is amazing I work for a big company in their IT department I can tell you they spent millions on Panasonic cameras none of them can do what this camera is doing.
Guys, have you done a deep dive video on the image and video settings for the new ColourVue range and even better, your thoughts on the best settings/config for day and night?
DS-2CD2T47G2-L: Is there a turret equivalent to this cam? What is the model number? BTW you just sold me on this cam. Too bad I am not in the UK or I would purchase it from your based on your outstanding demonstration.
Great video very helpful, thank you. I'm looking at the 8mp version of this camera DS-2CD2T87G2-L, are you going to review this would be interesting to see how it performed? Can you confirm if the DS-2CD2T87G2-L also has the light trigger from motion feature as I would not like the light to be on all night, only as you show this in the video.
Hi , todays video will be released that shows it performance yes 😊 , and yes the firmware would work on this model also but not formally released but wont be to long
Any recommendations for how to purchase in the USA? Looking for the DS-2CD2047G2-LU, or the DS-2CD2347G2-LU, or even the 8MP versions. Do you ship to the USA?
ADI has the DS-2CD2047G2 and DS-2CD2087G2. I ordered my DS-2CD2347G2 off eBay. The shipped it next day DHL for free. I paid $175 USD landed for a DS-2CD2347G2-L.
@@goingslowfast Have a link to the sellers profile. I'm having trouble finding them on ebay. I found their website, but they don't show pricing and only sell to licensed installers, not end users.
@@kalli2211 Thanks for the answer, i can't find the check box LED in my link tab... ive updated my camera to the lastest firware but still nothing... its a DS-2CD2T47G1-L and the firmware is now V5.6.3 build 190923... somenone have the same problem ?
damned, Ive got 5 of theme and Ive planned to use like these gen2... i Will pray for an update... this is probably not a hard feature to add... wait and see
Dave, nice video. As always :-) Q1: Low Illumination profile is nice but what about Shutter very low ( for example 1/6 and moving vehicle or running human) . The moving object there will be fuzzy in detail. Or not? Q2: Does it mean that ColorVue is the same as Acusense (Human and Vehicle) smart detection technology? thx
thanks for the feedback , when say 1/6 shutter its still good performance, there will be an issue with fast moving objects and motion blur but it was set to this and you could see me moving around and it looked well. The other question is yes the new G2 model range now has AcuSense VCA engine to improve the VCA function, so yes same as acusense 😊
Hi mate,,what would you recommend for a pitch black back garden,,I’ve got the acusence 8mp on the front of the house,,I’m using a hikvision nvr also mate 👍👍
Hi mate, if you don’t mind the ColorVu camera and its white light then I recommend that DS-2CD2087G2-LU if you don’t and just want IR then use the DS-2CD2386G2-IU 😊
Can you Post what turret Model you actually used here? Cause you clearly got the description wrong. You listed a Dome Style camera. 🤷 Good review though 👍
Great video as always, Any plans for 4mm, 6mm versions in stock? You mentioned a custom firmware for LED light, where can I get it from, if possible? I should receive G2 cameras tomorrow. Thanks.
Could you show us a comparison of the ColorVu with white light on versus the DarkFighter with IR on? I'm trying to pick a camera for my garage, and if the IR has a good photo quality, it might be nice to use that instead, since it would avoid blinding me with the white LEDs when driving in at night time.
Personally I don't use WDR as the image is flat and muted, I find the image is better and colour is better without WDR and adjust/lower the contrast to give the best results. I think it depends on the environment and what you find works best to give the best image for identification of persons
Wahh :-( turns out i have 2 Gen1 Turrets. However i have ordered the 8MP bullet DS-2CD2087G2-LU which is gen 2. Will this firmware be genrally avaible for all HIK Vision customers? I am slowly adding cameras to my property as and when i can afford them and when i run the network cable. Your videos are helpfull as it confirms what i though certain settings did. I orgionally clicked to check the colourvu was better than DarkFighter. I love the cameras so very good at night which is when crime happens IMO. Do you think HikVison will do a PTZ colourvue? P.S. If you sell to retail customers i will call you next time i get to point for next camera. I work in I.T. and understand some places are trade only to avoid whinging retail customers as i used to have a shop...
Hi Richard sadly we are a Trade only distributor , they do a ColorVu PT model now DS-2DE3A400BW-DE(F1)(S5) , and firmware once released goes into the UK portal so anyone can get it technically , and thanks for the kind words 😊
Can you tell me the difference between this model you reviewed and the 4MP DS-2CD2047G2-LU? They both have same 4MP, both 1/1.8 sensor, both have acusence and colourvu, both come in 4mm lens, but the 4MP DS-2CD2047G2-LU has the extra feature of having a mic? Also the white light trigger from motion, will the 4MP DS-2CD2047G2-LU get this firmware as well as at the moment Im leaning towards the 4MP DS-2CD2047G2-LU? Thanks.
@@DVSLTD Thanks, so the DS-2CD2047G2-LU, or DS-2CD2087G2-LU will both get the white light motion trigger. As the sensor in the 8mp modes has1/1.2 sensor, would I be right in thinking If I put that down to 4mp it would be better for low light than a 4mp model with 1/1.8 sensor? This would either support the theory that larger sensors at the same resolutions produce better night footage, maybe you could do a test?
@@CGDreamsTutorials the ColourVu will be better than standard 4MP yes, unless complete darkness and you don’t want the white light on, could you not use it at 8MP ?
@@DVSLTD My theory is if both models have Colourvu and Acusence, one model is 4mp the other is 8mp with the difference of sensor size. The 4mp has 1/1.8 sensor and the 8mp has 1/1.2 which is larger. Rather than get a 4mp, get the 8mp and run it at 4mp as your now have a larger sensor at 4mp = better light per pixel. I don't need 8mp I need best night quality. If larger sensors yield better lighting for lower MP cameras then the 8MP colourvu with 1/1.2 sensor at 4mp would be better for low light? I cant have white light on all night as its a close residential area, people have to walk past my house, they cant have white lights in their eyes, but if Acusence is that good, better than Blueiris, then that White light when triggered would be welcome at full power. Now if these cameras for some reason debunk the theory of larger sensors offering better response to low light and a 8mp colorvu Vs 4mp colourvu boh set to 4mp and they look the same in same light conditions then I will go for 4MP DS-2CD2047G2-LU as it gains a mic. I would love to see the DS-2CD2047G2-LU, against the DS-2CD2087G2-LU but @4mp under same conditions. 4mm, or 6mm would be good.
Great vid ...Will the firmware that makes the LED light be able to be triggered by movement (as at 23:23) be available to all or just DVS customers?....I have 3 G1 Colorvu's and have just added a G2 and yes the selection box shown above is not in the stock firmware. You would think Hik would include it as standard ...but it doesn't surprise me that they don't ....it would be handy for my new G2.
the darkfighter camera is not meant to be in that level , you could set any camera to that technically but doesn’t means you should , and during the filming I did actually do that to see the difference , it should still be in there video
Hi. Thanks to you I could easyli set up my CCTV and intercom. I've just changed my ds-2cd2185fwd-is cameras to DS-2CD2386G2-ISU/SL and I've got a problem my events are played in the slow motion. Any idea why? Thanks
The custom firmware is very appealing, how might one go about requesting this from you for a fee? And could the same changes in firmware be applied to other models such as the Turret G2 DS-2CD2347G2-LU?
Hi , the firmware is free and we don’t charge , its not commercial released yet but will be very soon , it will also work on the Gen2 turret as well as bullet

Do you know if the new firmware is out yet and where to find it? You say around 8.00 that this is in testing and it would be great to have the white light turn on as linkage
it’s on the latest firmware on the hik portal www.hikvisioneurope.com/uk/portal/?dir=portal/Product%20Firmware/Hikvision/03%20Front%20Ends/IP%20Camera/G3%20platform%282XX6G2%202XX7G2%202XX6G0%20XE6XXX%29/5.5.160%20build210108 please check the model being used is on the list on firmware release notes.
Just to say the new firmware is so good. Now a light turns on when someone goes into the intrusion area. I back onto a park so there is no light. I use low illumination mode and then the led turns on with an intruder
Great video. Could you please tell me the difference between the 1st Gen 16Mbps bandwidth and the 2nd Gen 8Mbps bandwidth with both at full resolution and quality? I was going to buy the 2nd generation cameras but the 8Mbps is pretty much on par with other brands now and that is a huge drop in actual recorded image?
2nd Gen is much better and includes the AcuSense VCA technology now , I suspect on the 1st Gen this was set to H.264 whereas the 2nd Gen is H.265 , they both supported H.265 also 😊
Hi, thanks for your effort, I was wondering whether an accusense dvr will do the vca functions on a video stream from a basic hikvision ip camera added to it? or does the ip camera itself have to have the accusense feature? thank you
if you use a acusense DVR , it will do the VCA on a analogue / TVI camera connected to the DVR itself, if you are using IP Camera with Acusense then the tech is inside the camera and therefore nothing needed on the NVR , if you use the Acusense NVR you can use the standard IP camera also 😊
on the web page of the camera , go to configuration , then local , and enable VCA rules and POS etc , then save, then on live view page it should show this
Another helpful video! I'm planning to replace my 4 old 420TVL BNC cameras with ColorVu's - am I losing anything if I go with TurboHD versions of these cameras - are there more settings to adjust on IP compared to OSD settings on Turbo HD variants? What's the price difference of the same model IP vs TurboHD in %?
Hi and thanks, the Turbo ColourVu are cheaper than IP , they still perform well but the IP does perform better image wise , but Turbo model is still very popular, 😊
Hi. Just got the latest firmware that allows led triggers. I wonder if you know if its possible to turn all lights off during day and have the led triggered at night only as at the moment the led lights are coming on during day? Thanks.
The motion LED feature is beta firmware. Security Perth (Australian reseller) has it available on their website under menu: Cameras > Hikvision > ColorVu Gen 2 > Firmware button
Thanks for the reply. Look forward to hopefully good news. It is a must have feature for home users of the Colourvu as scheduled or permanently on led don’t look nice on houses. It would be a shame if this wasn’t added to the G1 version to the customers of DVS (myself through my installer) and promoter of Hikvision
yes you can use either with the latest firmware if you don’t want to use IE, some models of the bullet do have the mic in-built you need to look for the -U models
Hi there. Wondering can you help me? I have a customer wanting 2 ptz motion tracking cameras on opposite corners of their bungalow. I'm wondering is it possible for both cameras to talk to each other so that say one camera tracks motion to a corner then the other camera moves to that corner to track it on around? Hope that makes sense.
It is very simple to do, just link a recognised plate to a relay output from the camera and feed this into the gate opener. If it is a Hik entry system it is even easier.
@@jonathanhaesendonckx862 Many clients like the novelty but stop short of understanding the practicalities. For example, one site had a perfectly enclosed compound and wanted gate-controlled ANPR. If some scroat got in, nobody would see what happened within it. Perhaps one of the only areas where commercial applications don't really transfer well to resi.
