This is the best interview with Richard Simmons I ever saw. Thank you Shay for treating him with such respect. He deserves so much respect and compassion for helping so many people through the years. God Bless you Shay & Richard.

All you people saying negative things about Richard Simmons... you should be ashamed of yourself. He is just different. He's misunderstood. He is a really awesome person and does a ton of good things -- more good than most people could ever hope to do in a lifetime. He likes to bring out the most in people, and he likes to make people laugh. If he seems rude, it's just that you're too uptight to understand his dry sarcastic sense of humor. He is an inspiration and an amazing soul. Thank you Shay for this :)

I have loved Richard's humor and caring since the 80s. I had a record album with a picture book of his exercises.

I didn't honestly know what to expect.. But I laughed a lot! He's crazy... you've truly met your match Shay!!!

i love richard.say what you will about him - he's such a bundle of positive energy since i first saw him on tv. since i was a kid till now - his energy is the same as always. ncie to have people like that in this world.

My grandma had all his sweating to the oldies VHS tapes, I sit and watch as I was very young at the time lol fond memories with Richard Simmons on my grandma's tv :')

The last part of the video when Richard was praising Shay summed him up. Simmons says things as they are and what he said to Shay at the end I completely agreed with and is the reason I watch the Shaytards. Proud of you Shay, Well done!

Why the funk are people getting so angry at Richard, he just speaks his mine, unlike most people on this Earth, and he seems like a brilliant dude! p.s.- did not mean to come across rude

My entire life (I'm 34) my parents & brother who is 2 years older then I am have made fun of me my entire life, They call me hateful names, They would moo at me, Make fun of my size in front of people & tell me they were ashamed to have me as their child. They still tell me they hate me, They still make fun of me. I was thin as a child, I however am now 376 pounds & losing my ability to walk because of my back & the weight doesn't help. I cry a lot, I don't like being in crowns because I feel ugly & scared. I need help but I don't know where to start. I don't want to be like this. I want to live life not hide at home anymore.

"And try to save money up for a set" LOL Shay was in stitches.

Love the interview, but the background music is distracting. It's hard to hear Richard at times.

It's funny to see Shay get a taste of the wild energy and random silliness he gives to everyone else.

RIchard Simmons reminds me of my grandma. Batshit crazy but you have to still show respect. This was just like a half hour visit at nana's.

I think people need to accept the fact that some people are very different and do express themselves in different ways. I don't feel that this was awkward at all, this was just a clash of big personalities and they both made some amazing points on the topic!!

Richard is a delight. Such light and spirit, so genuine.

THE most ADD interview i've ever seen!

Just watched Shay's video where he lost 5 lbs of water weight in one day in order to make his 4% weight loss for his contest. This is completely opposite of what he talks about at 14:20. Needs to practice what he preaches.

Richard Simmons is an out of control crazy. I'm sure he is a good guy, but I prefer Shay's controlled crazy..This video was quite awkward and uncomfortable at times..

This was so great! Inspiring AND entertaining. I can only imagine how difficult it would be to do a video like this with the crazy Richard Simmons. But Shay, you were a pro. Your quick wit made it look so easy. Fantastic job!

I'm now 52 and have M.S. In 1995 when my kids were young (and I was still healthy), I started Weight Watchers. I also started power walking. Every single evening when I walked I listened to Richard's walking tape on my walkman (wow, that really ages me!) That tape helped me lose 60 pounds and I never got tired of Richards encouraging voice. I still have the tape and it's a prized possession...reminding me of a wonderful time in my life :)

Shay, not sure if you're looking for a career in hosting...but Richard completely controlled this interview. A bit annoying for me to watch especially when you pulled the "food" slip from the bowl. I don't think you even talked about the importance of food. Richard got off topic so many times and his stories most of the time were not related. Dont get me wrong, Richard is funny and he also took this interview where ever he wanted. He couldve talked about kangaroos for 3-5 mins and you couldn't get him on target. just some feedback.

AWEsome! I remember my first workout I did on a regular basis was, "Sweatin' to the Oldies Part 2" on my parents VHS player. Still know most of the dance moves!

LOVED this soooooooo much! i used to dance with richard on the dancing to the oldies video in my livingroom.he is so motivational and inspirational. just like YOU,shaycarl!AND a big ol goofball like you too.LOL -although your shayloss channel has helped so many,i don't know if i can keep up with you.i've got about 20 years on you.and since i'm older,like richard is,i do believe i'll look him up to see if i can get a little healthier again.ok.a LOT healthier.thank you shaycarl for reintroducing an old friend back to me! :)

I'm glad for Shay that he got to meet such an icon, but I think that Simmons was a bit rude to Shay.. He didn't let him talk and made fun of Shay's looks even though he isn't that pretty himself ha ha. Don't get me wrong I just think that the respect should go both ways. Richard might be the "icon", but he should respect Shay and let him talk as well.

LOL... the part where they talk about Simmons getting hit by a Sara Lee truck had me laughing so hard I almost fell off my chair! Suddenly I had this visual in my mind of sequins and plastic rhinestones exploding everywhere on impact! OMG... I must be over tired or something because I can't stop laughing!

The part about saying no to bad food is so true. I would always say no to dessert and my friends will always say "its worse if you forbid yourself....you'll want it more" and I think "no!" Coz its worse if i do take a bite of this super fudgy yummy dessert and i love the taste and want more

He's so sweet :) I like Richard, he seems to really care about helping people not just selling himself or his product unlike a lot of other weight loss gurus, granted he makes money doing it but I really think its not solely about the money. He reaches out to people who realistically need to lose weight and is realistic about the weight loss, again,unlike the rest of those weight loss "pros".

this was an awesome video shay sensei. It's kinda nostalgic seeing people that I look up to for their different weight loss journeys acting themselves and happy. It makes me feel like the path I have chosen will one day bear fruit as well. Congrats to shay and to richard sensei for all the people you have helped with their weight loss. I am really happy that I clicked on the video. You seem to care about people and their health and how to do it the right way without supplements, drinks to put false hope.
