#HillCountrySwapMeet #FredericksburgTX. Time for another #TexasSwapMeet. This was my first time attending this one as ive always made the excuse that its too hot in July and 5 hours away (10 hour roundtrip). Decided to take the trip this yr and it didn't disappoint. It's held at #ladybirdjohnsonpark, which is very nice setting for this swap meet. There were all sorts of stuff at this one from antiques to vintage parts and projects. I scored some r12 freon cans on the cheap and a Mitchell Interchange book. Got to meet some subscribers as well as running into my friend Lupe from the valley boys at Pate. Also ran into another RU-vidr by the name of #DanDanthejunkman. Cool dude, y'all go check him out. The drive to and from was nice as well out there in hill country. Will definitely want to attend next year.

LOL....Sure is a beauty of an automobile! I can see her all restored to show room perfection again and good price as well! : )

Yes it was a good price for a fairly complete car. And not something like a Deuce coupe or 57 Chevy that everyone else has. You're going to be different in that Buick! I prefer the 57 Buick, but had I the $$ and a place to work on her, she'd be mine. The big thing on the non Chevy GM cars is what's available in the aftermarket. That's the make or break on this one.... And anyone that's seen the live stream shows you used to do knows what you look like! Not a bad looking bloke, I have to say....

I believe that was the only song they (Devo) had that made any thing. Your face has been seen in window reflections many times. Thanks for the show. Ronnie.

I haven't been to this swap meet in 30 years! Last one that my dad and I went to was the 1991 edition. It's a 5 hour drive from Houston too. We made expenses, but not much more. A couple of his high school buddies that we hadn't seen in several years came by and hung out most of Saturday, and then took us out to eat at a great Tex Mex place they knew nearby. Best part of the weekend! Doesn't look like it has changed that much; newer trucks and newer parts for sale. I had wanted to go this year, but had 2 other commitments that Saturday. A toy show in North Houston and a concert/memorial show in Austin that night, for a buddy of mine who passed recently. I HAD to be at that one!

Unfortunately FB Marketplace, Ebay, CL, Letgo and OfferUp have put a big dent in swap meets like this.

Whoa Nelley, you're a brave one driving 10 hours round trip. Not for me. I just got back from Concord, NC to visit my sister (which is outside Charlotte). I flew out of Newark and got to Charlotte in under two hours. Driving from NYC is nine hours each way. I was there in under two, maybe five total if you count driving and waiting at the airport, but by early afternoon I was swimming versus driving. My sister and brother in law picked me up and dropped me off from the airport which saved me time. I parked my car at a garage about 5 minutes away from the airport and they have a shuttle that takes you up and back. Worked as smooth as could be. I know you don't like flying. I hope you meant "Hollander" Interchange manuals and not Mitchell crash guides as the latter you can use as table props, they are incomplete and often wrong. I did see a junkyard off I-85 and I said to my sister in jest, "I should have brought my tools" LOL. It looked like mostly newer stuff though. I did see some square bodies and older OBS trucks on the road in NC and I even saw a Grand National T-top in Charlotte down where my nephew works. I had a good time: we got to see family (including family from TX that I've never met in person), went to a AAA ballgame, did plenty of swimming, saw an outdoor concert and just relaxed. My friend gave me a Snap On AC2 air conditioning charging station and I'm pretty sure there's at least a half filled (maybe more) 30 lb R-12 unit in there....I have to look. You need a flower pot on your head to sing the 1980 Devo song. LOL. I couldn't do that to a car like what was done on the Malibu. Half of those guys are "two footing" it at a red light or stop sign and they are sweating rockets with no AC. Nah. I'll take factory equipment that works properly. I stopped going to swap meets years back when everyone started "basement clearing" and putting "I know what I got" pricing on it. Ebay canned a lot of swap meets as you can get what you need with the click of a button. Same with FB Marketplace and CL. Yes, swap meets have their place, but less so in the digital world. Yep, Spires Buick (which at one time was also known as Spires-Douglas Buick) and was located at 243 W SUNSET San Antonio, TX 78209. There are offices/businesses in this location now. Yup, the VIN gets us the win: 5 for Buick Super, E for 1958 model year and the rest is the production sequence. I believe that's a Sunbeam Alpine GT which was sometimes called the Rapier. It was originally designed by the Rootes Group, but they eventually folded and the designs/company were melded into the Chrysler Corporation and later Chrysler imports would take some cues from it. More on it here: www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2019/07/rare-rides-a-very-rare-1969-sunbeam-alpine-gt-barracuda-lite/ I have three of those Sears Craftsman reciprocating saws, some are 2 speed, some are variable speed. All are made by Dewalt for Sears under the "900" prefix. There's nothing I haven't been able to cut with them. They ripped through my 1960s era wooden garage door like butter when I had to cut it up for DSNY to pick it up. I cut it up in about 8 minutes flat into smaller cubes so that it could be put into the truck. I've cut up cars, fence posts, trees, pipe, you name it. I bought one new in 2002 and the other two used off of Ebay. I had to change an $8 switch on one because it lost a speed. Found an NOS switch on Ebay and I was good to go with 10 minutes of work to change it. I had one of those style chairs back in 1994 at the auto parts company. My desk and chair were probably from the 1950's-1960's and I was probably about the tenth person to use it. LOL.

You have an ice chest in your vehicle and hydrate properly. That's how we exist in Texas when not inside in the AC. And it helps to be in an air conditioned vehicle to make the trip. No AC on a road trip, you'll be making stops to cool off so forth. Just did that couple weeks ago, for a trip that had to be made in the afternoon. Otherwise you drive at night

@@HotWheelsBurban I suppose you learn to deal with it/live with it, but TX is way too hot for me. I suppose the same could be said by Texans that state, "I don't know how you deal with the cold and snow". It's all a matter of your perspective. I personally dislike temperature extremes either way. For me, a 65-70 degree day with clouds is a perfect day. LOL.
