001 Video One Hill End Gold & History Hill Museum with Malcolm Drinkwater
On this channel are previews from my documentaries on gold and bush trades. In all over 6 & ½ hours viewing, but it doesn’t tell all. This RU-vid channel is to expand on the documentaries not copy them. These RU-vid presentations aim to complement, corroborate and prove first time published material and original research combined with some interesting additional history. Hill End is located upon over 6 thousand acres of crown land the used to operate like a large English Common. At last notice the National Parks controlled 300 acres within the common and most of the village of Hill End including the Royal Hotel and General store. Beside the hotel are public toilets, while about 2 kilometres towards Bathurst/Sofala is the History Hill Museum. Hill End is about one hour’s drive from either Bathurst of Mudgee on a sealed road. The preferred way to Hill End from Bathurst is through Turondale. Entering Hill End from the Mudgee side about half a kilometre before the Royal Hotel the is a sharp turn to the left marked ‘Bathurst’, 1 & ½ kilometres along this road is the History Hill Museum.
At History Hill there is ample off street parking and dogs are permitted outside on a leash, not inside buildings.
After this introductory presentation you may wish to look at our virtual town tour of Hill End and the documentary previews.
