A bigger vestibule? I think you must need an RV then. ;) That thing is the biggest I've ever seen, and there are two of them. ;)

@@travelsonabike2 Do you use the ground tarp with your setup? I was wondering if you thought that the ground sheet was of help with condensation.

I always use a groundsheet and have never suffered with condensation in either of my Hillebergs.

If you take the Inner out you have a lot more space, and the inner is quite heavy. am 76 and six foot three inches tall and needed to be a contortionist to get in and out of a small (Soulo) tent. I initially made a footprint from some blue tarpaulin stuff i bought from Wilco but have recently bought the Stika Footprint. If you don't have an inner you can easily wipe off the condensation in the morning.
@travelsonabike2
@travelsonabike2 2 года назад
There’s a hell of a lot more room with the inner tent taken out. But I think you might want the inner tent if you’re winter camping.
@mikeharris7885
@mikeharris7885 2 года назад
Totally agree, I don't like sleeping pads so have a lightweight camp bed that can be orientated to any direction in the Stika to find a level area without touching the sides. Could be 'high' enough off the footprint' to dodge any rain blown under the outer. So its a trade off, carry a lightweight tent and not sleep well or the Stika with the saved weight of the inner compensating for the weight of the camp bed. Still undecided on what tent to take into the South Wales Mountains this spring/summer.. @@travelsonabike2

Thanks again Garry. When i was young and in a Army reserve unit all we were issued with was a Poncho, a sleeping bag with a waterproof base, a Hexy stove, a couple of mess tins, a water bottle and a 24 hr ration pack and left to get on with it! You 'Wild Campers of today have got it easy!@@travelsonabike2

I’ve got a couple of Hillebergs, a Nallo 4GT and a Niak. They are so well made, I don’t mind the cost for something that lasts. I think a Staika is too much for me, the Allak might be on the horizon, but we will see. I don’t think you can beat the GT’s if you want a large vestibule
@travelsonabike2
@travelsonabike2 4 года назад
You’re right about their quality, you can’t beat them. I wondered about the Allak myself, and might still get one! The vestibule on the Nammanja 2GT is superb, but as I’ve said before the tents a bit too long. Stay safe, I hope you get some camping trips this year.

Good review Garry, looks like a well made Tent,interesting design. I see what you mean about space, compared to your old tents. Is it light? And is it classed as a 1or 2 man?
@travelsonabike2
@travelsonabike2 4 года назад
Hi Paul, it’s an incredibly well-made tent. It’s not light compared to a lot of tents these days, weighing in at 4kg, but I don’t mind a little extra weight, if the tents right for me! It’s a two-man tent.

Garry McGivern Travels On A Bike 2 good point about weight mate I see you use panniers.I tend to bike pack on a road bike, saddle bags etc, so maybe a bit to heavy for me. I see you can travel a bit further these days.. we have to wait until 20th July which in hard, especially with the weather being so good at the moment. Looking forward to following your future trips mate, stay safe rgds paul.

You definitely get what you pay for with a Hilleberg black label tent. This tent will survive any conditions… most won’t… and you’ll be safe and warm. I’ve had my staika taking a battering in 24 hours serious mountain storms and it hasn’t moved an inch. Incredibly strong. People have had staika’s for 20 years with zero defect issues. The Hilleberg Kerlon 1800 rip stop is the strongest, most water proof material you’ll find When you think how much use and peace of mind you’ll get from something like a Hilleberg black label tent..That ain’t mad money. That’s sensible money.

A Hilleburg tent is something precious. You are paying for something no one else makes, they are in short supply increasing their value.

hilleberg keep ripping people off there prices are ridiculous , after being a huge fan and owing several, there prices have gone through the roof 3 years ago my nallo gt2 cost £650 now £980 ? Why ? Answer not even justified just line your pockets . If everyone stopped buying them the price would drop back down to a reasonable price
@travelsonabike2
@travelsonabike2 4 года назад
I must admit they are rather expensive, but then they’ve always been expensive! The trouble is they do make good tents, and maybe it’s a question of, you get what you pay for?
@carlredmond3642
@carlredmond3642 3 года назад
Like all products, high quality production, with a large labor component is expensive, especially if they are paying their fabrication staff a decent salary and benefits....most "cheap" products cut corners in material quality and pay fabrication staff very low salaries via fabrication subcontracted to China and similar. On top of this they consider the demand for their product. People complain about high prices for a tent...but many people have no problem paying thousands for a fashion accessory such as a handbag, a jacket, or shoes etc....compared to these items a Hilleberg tent is a bargain.

@MrMarkas3 Comparing a ford with a Rolls Royce, if you can't afford the latter - it makes it seem like a rip off. Maybe your camping is in a nice safe campground but when your life depends on your tent, or if you are like some who go on muti year bike trips, the hilleberg is CHEAP.
