The problem isn't arresting these criminals, it's the court system and government officials that release them with no consequences. No wonder the police feel demoralized... They do their jobs... it's a slap in the face to them, the businesses and communities who see a revolving door. Kudos to the police for the effort to protect us.
The problem is the lack of investment in communities and the lack of resources available such as social housing, job training, public sector jobs and so on to uplift the area. The whole thing about "getting tough on crime" being a good idea is wrong. It was wrong in the 1980's and it's wrong now. It won't make society better. Unfortunately there seems to be this ideology of needing to punish sin by those at the bottom of society that is a major hinderance to actually solving all the problems that society has which are many.
@@MrMarinus18 Couldn’t disagree more. Permissive enforcement of the law breeds a sense of entitlement to steal & lawlessness. Proper enforcement of the law reduces crime dramatically since the career criminals get locked up & others are deterred. Your philosophy is now being promoted in blue cities with terrible consequences.
the theory behind it is that, you eat lobster, they have the same right to eat too, you carry a lv purse, they also have the right.....its a human right issue.
@@haiping0918 Theft is never a human rights issue in the favor of criminals. Nice try. Of course they have the same right to eat lobster, get a job and earn the money like we do. Btw, ain't NOBODY stealing to feed their kids due to zero public resources available to them.
@@TheDarkLasombra Yeah but you can't around the fact that a thief is someone who steals. Even if it's something petty, it's a dangerous practice to have. It changes how you think. Stealing with a minor inconvenience as a result. At least a day in jail is sufficient for an actual minimal approach to deterring it.
@@TheDarkLasombra 👈🏿👈🏿 fell for the BLM grift. Supported “defund the police”. Still thinks Mike Brown had his hands up and said “don’t shoot” even though Obama’s DOJ investigation lead by Eric holder said that NEVER HAPPENED. Believed CNN and MSNPC’s lies about the Covington Kids.
Problem is, it's costly, requires the cooperation of the store, and requires a lot of police that could be doing other things if these idiots weren't running amok with the shoplifting. And that's assuming these guys aren't let out on bail to go do it again tomorrow if they're repeat offenders. Unfortunately the reality isn't as cut and dry as this makes it out to be. I agree 100%, though. It needs to be done everywhere so thieves will start talking to eachother about it and eventually stop trying after enough time. But that would take months or years of constant probably weekly, operations like this. Ideally at multiple locations. The other problem is with all of these police shootings lately, people want police departments defunded. Then they whine when this happens lol. At least their hearts are in the right place. I think.
For those in serious need laws need to be amended allowing stores to give away out of date and damaged products etc. For FLASH MOBS who SMASH-AND-GRAB and ORGANIZED THEFT RINGS, they raise the prices and make shopping unsafe for everyone_PUNISH TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW!

FYI - You’re not holding criminals accountable when your elected DA and Judges are releasing them within hours and eventually dropping most of the charges. You’re enabling their life of crime.
What they don't tell you in the video is exactly how long the thieves were held in custody or how much jail time they are given! 😡 The problem is most thieves are released with a ticket and NO jail time!😲
They don't tell you since they didn't see the judge yet so neither the media or the police can speculate on their time or sentence, the same way they always say alleged.
What service do they provide? They are paid public servants that are paid an excellent salary. This is their job. Do you think the guy who makes donuts at the donut shop every day to thank him for his service how about the kid at the gas station bumping your gas do you think him for his service or the McDonald’s cook for their service? That’s what’s wrong with this civilization. They owe us they work for us, and they need to be held accountable to us not hiding behind all the qualified immunity police unions, and everything else they are not heroes they did not do anything except their basic job now if we could just get the prosecutor to do their job, this country would be any better condition
Don't hold your breath. They should do the sting on the DA and judges instead (where those above mentioned unfortunately decide to fight to the end resisting arrest).
This is Oregon and Democrats are in full control. It's more than likely that anyone arrested during this 'sweep' will be released without bond and back in the streets within minutes. And then they'll just disappear and strike again in another part of the state.
@@working2bselfsufficient724That isn't true 💩head. You live in a shithole buddy. California is a majestic state with so many activities it would make your head spin. Meanwhile Florida is about to self implode because of deSATAN😂
We need to take back our communities and ensure that everyone has safe shopping experiences and this lawlessness of mob retail thefts has to be stopped.
You mean young people can't shoplift in a small town ? What are the suburban youth gonna do ? I know , look down at their cellphone at all times . That's what young kids are doing today ?
Noticed they said two already had outstanding warrants for their arrests. This shows that arresting these people doesn't stop them. It's a revolving door. In and out. Once the police leave, they continue stealing. We need stricter punishment not more arrests.
@@commontater1785 That's WHY crime is being allowed to increase -- to push for Chinese style TOTAL SURVEILLANCE. I see that you're a useful drone, echoing the commie narrative.
I was a grocery store manager for over 20 years. People from all walks of life shoplift. Lots of people buy some things and steal other things. Wealthy people shoplift too. I've seen it all.
@@yvonnegrant3736 I hear you. The point of my comment is that people get so freaked out about these theft blitzes and I’m saying all kinds of people are shoplifting all day. It’s no different to me (except these blitzes are scary for the employees).
@@gilwood7530Well stop holding the door for white criminals! You just didn't like seeing people that look like you steal and get arrested. PEOPLE FROM ALL WALKS OF LIKE STEAL!! Wake up
It doesn't matter if you catch and arrest them because they're not going to be punished appropriately. They'll be back out stealing again in weeks or months.
True, vote out the prosecutors, who don’t……..and other politicians, lawmakers too damn cowardly to change laws, or whatever is necessary to stop these thugs
They had to wait until the businesses that went under due to covid mandates shut down and left. No worries, covid is on the rise again. They can finish the job.
Lower the dollar amount for felony arrest, give a minimum jail time on first offense 1 year in the county jail, and no plea bargains!! You steal, you go to jail for one year!
That's how it's supposed to be done you have to wait till they walk out the door cuz it's not stealing if they don't walk out the door that's why they don't get charges put on them
And what do you think the punishment should be? I knew people in hs who stole and got theft charges. Couldn't get a job for years because of it. What do you think they should do? RoT IN JaIL FOR 10 YeaRS? Dumb dumb over here lololol
Glad you did this. Keep up the good work. Every city needs to do thus. Enough with shoplifters getting away with their CRIMES. The loss of merchandise makes customers pay higher prices and retail employees don't get raises, because loss of store profit.
Shoplifter’s already up their game. I noticed someone picked up groceries at a Beaverton Target and “returned” those right the way. The items were not paid obviously and they would even show their ID during return, leveraging the loophole that groceries return do not need a receipt and items have no barcode.
In the comments here someone said that 11 of the shoplifters were released, without bail and immediately committed another crime. Is this true? Please respond FOX12. All the hard work of the Hillsborough Police Department down the drain?
As I understand it, there was a time when people would give their shopping list to a clerk, who would collect their purchases for them. That may be the future of many stores.
That’s not stopping nothing… There are so many horrible things happening in the country that retail theft seems like a most trivial use of time and resources. Especially since your judges prefer job security, so they turn them back out onto the streets in record timing and they’ll be right back taking stuff because they don’t have other options, like the thrill or need it for drugs.
If they don't do this all over the city they will lose all of their businesses. Nobody can afford to stay open when the retail theft is more than they make.
The legislators we voted for need laws for judges to throw these thieves in jail. I feel for our officers who apprehend thieves to only have the courts let them off.
I wrote on more than a few occasions how I thought all the store theft could be to some degree alleviated if you let the employees deal with the problem. All the do-gooders think the employees should go home if a thief enters the store. The cowardly do-gooders are at it again advancing the idea other people must be nicer if the planet is to improve. There are some people and maybe its in their blood who feel to work in a retail setting means also to guard the things your selling against crooks. In a posting I saw this very vigorous elderly lady store employee who figured out how to slow down one crook by ramming his fully loaded cart repeatedly until a small crowd developed. It was bloody exciting. Okay it wasn't bloody. But it could of been. The civic duty of a not so tired cop (when compared to sleepy nurses who hate their 70.00 an hour jobs) is to charge 100.00 an hour to do stand around security in the produce department at SuperValue.
