Himchori is a tourist spot located in Ramu upazila of Cox's Bazar district. Although Himchori is located 12 km away from Cox's Bazar, it is only 8 km south of the Dolphin junction in Cox's Bazar. It was established in 1980, covering an area of 1729 hectares or 17.29 Square kilometers. It is known that Himchori forest is the habitat of wild elephants. Besides, Maya deer, wild boar and monkey can be seen in this forest. The Himchori Tourist Center has natural waterfalls, scenic views of high mountains, vast Cox's Bazar beach, lush green Marine Drive Road and standing on the hill to enjoy the sunset. There are many restrooms on the hill. There are more than 200 long steps on this hill. Entering the tourist center, there is a ladder to the top of the hill on the left hand side and there is a path to the fountain on the right side. Himchori National Park is an evergreen and almost evergreen tropical forest. The main purpose of establishing Himchori National Park is research and teaching, tourism and recreation and wildlife conservation. It is known that out of 117 species of plants in this forest, there are 58 species of trees, 15 species of shrubs, 4 species of grasses, 19 species of herbs and 21 species of herbs. Himchori National Park is home to 55 species of mammals, 286 species of birds, 56 species of reptiles and 16 species of amphibians. Here is the habitat of apes. Among the birds here are Moyna, Finge and Tal Batasi. Himchori tourist center has wide beach on one side and huge mountain range on the other side. Himchori has a mountain spring which is the main tourist attraction here. This waterfall is located at the foot of Himchori tourist center.
How to go:
Himchori National Park is a popular tourist destination for tourists visiting Cox's Bazar. If you want to come to Himchari, first you have to come from Dhaka or Chittagong to Cox's Bazar. Himchari can be visited from anywhere in Cox's Bazar by Easybike/Autorickshaw or CNG. Besides, Himchori can be reached by local easybike/CNG from Kalatali junction.You can also explore the beautiful Himchari National Park by open jeep.
