The most surprising thing I learned from this video was: "If all you're doing is stretching all the time... You're probably training your muscles to get weaker." I thought the more flexible you are the better the mobility you have, thus the problem is solved. Looks like I've got some leg strengthening to do. Thanks again Matt.
I had a PAO surgery 3 years ago(from MRI, I had a labrum tear) and I still have hip pain,,, in the groin, the feeling of tension in the hip but it comes and goes, I noticed I have the pain especially when I am doing downhills. What kind of exercise should I do? Should I do workouts for a hip labrum tear? Do you think I should do an MRI to check if my labrum is still damaged? Please help me out! I have gone through many physiotherapists and it doesn't work...very frustrating
This man is a hero to me . I suffered 4 years of hip pain until I found his channel. I waited to post this until I was sure his exercises would help. I want to thank you for giving me my life back!!!
I had a lab mix with super bad dysplasia, according to X-rays. Like zero sockets, just flat bone. Oddly enough, he lived for 15 years and only had trouble walking the last year. Maybe keeping him fit from day one helped? We generally walked at least 20-30min most days and plenty of longer hikes or runs a couple times a week. Still miss that dog 😢❤️
Forgive my comment for being off subject, but every time I get into position for the dead bug exercise I wind up taking a nap halfway through. Thanks Matt, you rock dude!
my son was told that he had this when he was a child because his hip was causing his foot and leg to point out. He recently went to an ortho (he’s 28 now) and they said his hip is fine now. It’s not. His foot and leg are still pointing out.
The bones are fine, but the muscles that position his bones have not learned how to position his leg properly. That just takes education, effort, and patience! 😀
I only partially agree on this one. I have been asymptomatic for 37 years, not knowing I had hip dysplasia. Then was diagnosed with end stage osteoarthritis as well. I don't think my joint would look like this had it been a normal shape.

I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. No one’s told me I have hip dysplasia but I probably have it or something similar. Doctors have told me I have osteoarthritis in my hips and that they’re constantly subluxing. I’ve had 2 full dislocations in my hips. My right knee has had 19 full dislocations. This causes me to put weight on my left hip which hurts my left hip. All of my joints are constantly subluxing, any time I move anything. Also when I’m not moving anything. I’ve had shoulder dislocations as well. Also torn rotator cuff & torn meniscus in knee. The pain keeps me awake at night. Moving around is less painful than being in bed.
My husband has had both knees & both hips replaced & it helped him. I’m going to avoid joint replacements as long as I can. My soft tissue is shot. I don’t think I would have good outcomes from surgeries. I’ve also never taken pain meds & I’ve never had cortisone shots. I feel those things would cause more harm than good with my disorder. Muscle strengthening sounds like the best idea I’ve heard.
