You have either born with, and/or developed a much more sophisticated musical ear than I, specially so in identifying detail, so, could you answer this question for me, please? Benny and Bjorn are often to be seen mouthing the lyrics, but for the life of me I cannot discern any male voice AT ALL Can YOU hear them singing, and if so what do they add to the mix: Genuine question, asked to help me appreciate music in more depth. :-)
@@Jigaboo123456 You can just hear them on the chorus if you listen carefully (mainly Bjorn I think) - slightly lower voice harmonising with backing vocals and singing very fractionally behind the girls, so you can hear it best at the end of each line of the chorus, like at 5:26. Although the girls sing most of Abba's songs Bjorn does sing a few (the one that stands out is 'Does your mother know?'), but mainly the guys just harmonise.

@@Jigaboo123456 Think of the vocal harmonies in this(and other songs) as one of those speakers with three cones. High, Mid & Bass. Agnetha = High Frida = Mid Benny & Bjorn = Bass Now if one of those cones doesn't work, would you not notice. Also the girls vocals are generally front and centre. Mainly because they sing more than one part. That is layered in the mix too make it sound a lot fuller.
ABBA are pop ROYALTY and to this day they've not been dethroned. In a league all of their own. Polished production, exquisite vocals, heavenly harmonies, addictive melodies. Their music never fades away. They still sell truck loads of records today and get regular airplay on radios across the planet. Absolute LEGENDS

Benny taught himself to play piano, Agnetha is a full soprano and Frida is a metzo soprano so they can really sing and Bjorn writes the lyrics which they sing in a language which is not their native tongue. Now that's talent on every level. Their music will live on forever 💕💞🤩

Being from Sweden, it always makes me proud seeing someone appreciate ABBA's music. They were definitely not a one-hit wonder. They are one of the greatest music groups of all time. Agnetha and Bjorn( The girl with the blond and the guy playing the guitar in the video) were married in 1971 their marriage was on rocky grounds at the height of ABBA's success in 1978. they separated in december 1978 and their divorce was filed in 1980 and when their divorce was filed the title the winner takes it all came to bjorn ulvaeus's mind. the song is about the pain of that divorce. Annifrid Lyngstad and Benny Andersson (The girl with the red hair and the guy playing the piano in the video)were engaged in 1971 but did not marry until the height of ABBA's success in october 1978. 2 years after the marriage it went on rocky grounds for some reason. Yeah, it's not that they were one hit wonders, they were actually many-hit wonders! They didn't do many songs, but every single one of them were hugely popular, kind of like Queen but even more so.

Abba never imo did a bad song. Every song they created had something about it that made it memorable. It’s really incredible how many amazing songs they produced. My favorite is “The Winner Takes It All.” Very emotional song.

Latecomer here - besides all the stuff mentioned here, Björn & Benny wrote the musical "Chess" along with Tim Rice, and later wrote the musical "Kristina from Duvemåla", based on classic Swedish novels about Swedish immigrants leaving for the US in the 19th century during a famine. All of which have amazing songs. Chess has the more famous "One Night In Bangkok" (performed by Murray Head as "The American" - the plot of Chess is about the Cold War chess rivalry between a Russian and American chessplayer on and off the board), but also two absolute epics - "I know him so well" (sung by the spouses of the main characters) and "Anthem" (sung by the Russian character, best performance of that can be found on RU-vid performed by Tommy Körberg, a Swedish singer/actor).
They have so many more fantastic songs, every album of theirs are worth exploring - pop perfection in many ways. And the two female singers sound amazing.

I was a teenager when ABBA came out. They won a competition called 'The Eurovision Song Contest', and from there, continuous fabulous songs. In the Eurovision Song contest they were singing 'Mama Mia', and naturally won. That was in the 70's!!!!!!!

I read somewhere that when Frida heard the track for this song, she started crying because she thought it was so beautiful. And yes, Benny is awesome! Add to that the fact that Benny and Bjorn wrote the music and lyrics to just about EVERY song they ever did and had to look up words in the English-Svenska dictionary - well, that just blows me away! My mom had a press pass so I got to see Abba on September 30/1979 in Chicago!!! I personally know all four members so I promise you they will notice you discover dancing Queen ❤️🎶
Benny andersson is a kind of nestor in Sweden music, He start in the sixties with the group Hep Stars, After ABBA he do a folkmusic record and start BAO Benny andersson Orkester He and Björn Ulveus even work together whit the Musical "Chess" and then another musical "kristina Från Duvemåla" He even works with some others, like Avicci.
I was 10 or 11 ....we had school discos and ofc Dancing Queen was going hot...followed up by SOS and I kissed the teacher....I also had the LP ofc and still do.
I think ABBA is actually the only band in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that only had one #1 hit in America. One of the longest running Broadway musicals was based solely on their music MaMa Mia.
