@@theneverenderreacts I agree with them, you got the meaning of the song within 30 seconds, some reactors listen to the whole song and still are unsure what it means.
@@AnomaTaylor I think a lot of reactors play stupid, so that lots of people will comment explanations-get the chat going, because a whole slew of interactions on the video increases its visibility->views->comments->visibility etc. As Bill Maher would say: I don’t know it for a fact; I just know it’s true.
I just subscribed when I watched your reaction. I agree with others you got the meaning of this song fast!! This Entire album is a masterpiece! MOP was written by 20/21 year olds!! Deep lyrics, great vocals, amazing guitars/solos, and awesome drum work! The bridge slow down is like the Euphoria of being high on drugs, the speeding up afterwards is coming down & needing more of the drug! This Album is pure Fire!!🔥 Disposable Heros is just another one you've gotta react to. Thanks, i really enjoyed it! 🤘🎸〽️
Good reaction, bro. That song is considered by many to be 1 of the greatest songs…..ever. I’m talking over all generations and genres. The entire album was deemed so historically and socially significant that it has been enshrined in the US Library of Congress. That’s a pretty big deal.
You are quick! I seen reactions from other people that thought this song was about slavery!!! I appreciate you! Your reaction is pure! Just like when I first heard this!
You know this whole album just brings back such memories for me... Not just myself because in high school in the late 1980s we had 2 separate bands that grabbed the attention of us an that's METALLICA and guess who??? That's right SLAYER.I. We had one massive group of METALLICA fans, the other massive group was SLAYER FANS.. An yet both sides we loved the other band as well... That was the days when you can wear shirts with slayer or Metallica in big letters front an back... I had both shirts an one other band that was a Long sleeve which was TYPE O NEGATIVE...
@@KillDozer44I think he's referring to the fact that the stuff they made almost 40 years ago (this song) is still relevant and still an amazing song. No one cares or is talking about their shit music.
They originally wanted Geddy Lee of Rush to produce this record but he wasn’t available. Rush is my all-time fav, but I’m glad it didn’t happen ‘cause this is one of the best ever. However, I’ve always kinda wondered how this may have sounded if Geddy was in the booth.
Metallica is just 4 friends who got together and formed a band. They're just regular dudes (even now today) who happen to be famous. Lead guitarist Kirk Hammett is known for messing up intros on stage. Everyone has a good laugh and they start over. Sadly, the original bassist Cliff Burton was killed when their tour bus crashed in Europe while touring on this album. This album was the last with Cliff Burton on bass. Check out a video called VH1 Behind The Music Metallica. Actually you should do a reaction to it. People will watch!! Metallica is the ultimate heavy metal rabbit hole.
Early Metallica lyrics were outstanding. While this one is great, my favorite song from them is Fade to Black. Lyrically the best song they ever made imo.
The German band Rammstein is another band that uses lots of double meanings in their songs. I like to listen to their songs first untranslated then with the translation on. Adios is a song with a very similar message as Master of Puppets, and I didn't get the meaning just listening to the vocal tone.
You have to listen to "Creeping Death" by Metallica, they wrote the song from the perspective of the angel of death sent by God during the tenth plague of Egypt. Absolutely brilliant!
This album was the first metal album placed in to the library of congress for its cultural and musical importance to society! Go Metallica! It’s so nice to see a new metal head evolving! Your energy is real! I wish I could go back to the 80s and hear this whole album for the first time again!
Additionally, the bit at 9:57 - this is the person is HIGH on the drugs, it is nice and chill.....then in comes the pounding drug addiction coming back with the cravings wanting MORE!!!
WOW! This is BY FAR the BEST reaction to this song by a hip hop fan that I have seen to THIS day!!!! Excellent interpretation!!! You got yourself worked up to a frenzy 😅😅 That's the way I LOVE to see people getting INTO Metallica!!!❤
Seattle 1989 live, this is THE Metallica concert to watch. Battery, Master of Puppets, One, Blackened, Sanitarium, Creeping death are the highlights of this concert. May be the best metal concert ever, looking forward to it!!
Love your reaction brother! Not many people catches on the meaning of this song so quickly... One of the best metal songs, both lyrically and instrumentally, ever!!!
Simultaneously so happy to see you experience this for the first time and jealous as hell I’ve been listening for decades. I’m 56 and this makes me remember being early 20’s.
Just remember, that when this song came out, there was the “say no to drugs” campaign and a lot of people thought that metal was glorifying drugs. They were singing about how drugs can kill someone. Quite the oxymoron of the times.
I love when people can see these ICONS for what they have been since the beginning... pure Gold... with riffs, lyrics and music arrangements and even James voice... been hooked since the early 80s... Metallica FAN4LIFE🤘🏽😎
If you listen to the instruments during the song, the instruments themselves speak. Hard = I need the drug. The Breakdown = what you are feeling when you are high. The Bridge = The comedown; you are getting your itch for more. Back to Hard = Calling for your master.
Just from Metallica alone: Fade to Black, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Of Wolf and Man, Disposable Heros (as another has mentioned), Battery, ...And Justice for All.
Dude, your energy is so damn contagious. I was headbanging and moving right there with you man. Keep that awesome energy bro. I always love your videos.
Thank you for pointing out how dumb most reactors are. Even with the language barrier, it only took you HALF OF THE FIRST VERSE to instantly grasp the concept of the song. Meanwhile over half of reactors still aren't sure about the meaning even after the third verse.
Well I think they just play dumb. So viewers point everything out in the comments which means more engagement. Engagement means that youtube will push out that video more so more views. This video has 14k views. All the others are much much much more
@@heathen-heart 85 or 86. I was like 19 living on the beach in Florida I probably didn’t know what month it was… bad years of substance abuse. I’m 57 now and retired and making bad choices again some would say.
I went to this concert in the early 80s. Metallica opened for Ozzy! I wish I could have taken you with me brother! It was so great! You would have loved it! The Cow Palace in San Francisco! Cliff !!
Oh, and if you have never listened to them, I think a rap fan would REALLY enjoy KMFDM. The genre crossover of Metal, Hip-hop, Electronica and Rap in the band is fantastic. Most people would recommend "Juke Joint Jezebelle" (understandably) But I would suggest "Godlike"
I will admit this. I am not a "fan" of Metallica (they wouldn't be in my personal top 5 on any given day). Having said that, in my opinion, I cannot of many "entire albums (not JUST this song, every song on this album) that are as close to flawless - musically, lyrically, or topically" as this album is. Metallica wouldn't make my top 10 for bands, but this album would easily make my Top 5 albums - ever. BTW - GREAT reaction! Like the lyrical depth, check out Alice In Chains, Tool, Publix Enemy, Rage Against The Machine, Pink Floyd, Tori Amos, etc. Sorry for the LONG list. Reaction, or not, check them.out.
The adults in my life didn't want me listening to metal at all. When they read the lyrics to this song they were like, see? It's about drugs! 12 year old me said yeah, and basically that they're bad, so...
This is one of the best, BEST Master of Puppets reactions I've ever seen. I love your enthusiasm and interest in the lyrics. React to "One" if you get the chance.
Yes , James is good at speaking from perspectives. Realize that many have gone away that could not crawl out of this abyss. Thank God for my lady. I would have probably been gone long ago.
it's awesome watching you experience stuff like this.. brings back fond memories for sure. If you havent checked out Tool yet - please check out the music video for Sober. Tool will blow your mind if you havent found them yet.
Dude, you earned a subscribe for that one. If I were to recommend two songs to someone discovering metal that really demonstrates the artistry in metal, this would be one of them. The second would be Stryper's "Yaweh", about the crucifixion of Christ.. If you like heavy twists and turns, please check that one out.
