As far as the lyrics, Joel (the screamer) suffers from a combo of depression, anxiety and bipolar. This song was written about the time in Pittsburgh when he tried to take his own life. Little fact about the video: the performance part of the video was literally shot in an Olympic swimming pool so they were really in the water. I met Joel in real life this summer and he’s one of the most down to earth musicians I’ve ever met

This song got me through my cancer. Everything they say in the chorus is exactly what happened to me. I literally had cancer in my skin, water in my lungs, I couldn't walk cause the cancer broke my back in two spots, I had 2 blood clots and was told that I was going to die. I had 8 months of rehab to learn how to walk again, 2 surgeries, and 97 doses of chemotherapy in 4 months time. I was 135 lbs when I got sick and came out at 92 lbs. That was 2 years ago and here I am at 138 lbs, full of life, and grateful to be here. If it weren't for this band I'd be dead. This song made me fight like a mofo

The amity affliction is one of my favourite bands ever, I love their music, their lyrics, their song meanings, everything; this band marked me a lot; I've been listening to them 2 years ago and Pittsburgh was the first song I listened to. I 've never got tired about their songs (and there was a time that I just listened their songs every day over and over again), they're simply amazing!

Joel has been through depression since he was a young man. This is the number 1 subject in amitys lyrics. They have many songs where the titel has a different meaning from the song. R.I.P bon is named after the death of the leadsingers cat. And it's actually a choir. You can also hear the kids choir in all fucked up and give it all.

My interpretation was that he always wanted to die and then when he actually almost did, he realized that its scarier than we all think, and he pulls himself out of his own head a little bit hence why towards the end of the song it gets more upbeat and the lyrical tone kind of flips

If you listen to Deaths Hand and Dont Lean on Me you'll understand how they all tie together. TAA is by far one of my favorite bands. I'm a massive fan of music that had emotion behind the lyrics. You should definitely dive deeper into TAA.

I still remember the first time I heard TAA. The album “let the ocean take me” had just dropped and I heard this song on pandora while driving to work one day. I had already picked up my phone trying to figure out who it was by the time he said “but I’m lost in my head”(less than 10 seconds into the song). Been a fan ever since. All of their work is amazing.

Wage War- Stitch and Parkway Drive - Wishing Wells, Beartooth - In between. They're some more modern metalcore bands that have become fairly popular. I can tell that you definitely prefer the modern metalcore scene over the older stuff.

Ahren has a great voice. Also Amity have a thing for oceans in their songs, you'll notice that word being thrown around a lot. Whatever floats their boat.

My favorite band, i feel like the music has so much soul in it, it’s is so real and for me relatable. I got to see them live this summer for the first time (I’ve been a fan for 5 years now) and literally all the heart and emotions they put in their videos is nothing compared to when they’re live. The show is like one of those experience that everyone should experience.They’re literally an amazing band it’s wild.

Been listening to amity for some years now and have seen them many many times. Being someone who suffers from similar things as Joel and knowing I’m not the only one and the way he words his music is so inspirational and really has helped so many people.

The Amity Affliction is my absolute favorite band and this as well as many of there songs are so relatable and touching to me as I feel the way that Joel does and all of them so often. There songs help me so much to just keep pushing and trying and I absolutely love their music!

This song just blew my mind

I saw these guys at warped tour this summer. I'm not really into metalcore, but these guys were pretty good. However the one band my friends were into and brought me to see that I walked away loving was Ice Nine Kills. I fucking love horror movies and that's what most of their recent songs are about, with their last album having each song based off a book. I'm posting this here so hopefully they can get a larger fanbase, maybe Alex can even react to their songs. I recommend Me, Myself and Hyde (Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde), Communion of the Cursed (The Exorcist), Thank God its Friday (Friday the 13th), The American Nightmare (Nightmare on Elm Street), Enjoy your Slay (The Shining), Hell in the Hallways (Carrie). All of these are great first choices

As someone who lived for 4 years thinking about suicide, and still have some bad days that make me think about that, this song is so powerful and so real. It’s amazing how one or two persons can actually save you, for me at first was my family, but mostly my little brother cause I felt like I would be a really bad example for him, giving up on life, and then I met my girlfriend and she’s being my light ever since. If you are reading this and felt the same, please reach for help. I almost waited to long and gave up, don’t let darkness overcome you, let someone help you. You are important, don’t let your life kill your spark, light that shit on fire and show the world you can do it

The Amity Affliction is one of my favorite bands. Ive been through some hard times, just like everyone else, but there is something about me that deep down wishes it would all end. Some days its more present and others non-existent. Pittsburgh was the first song I heard from this band and related to it instantly. However, hands down, their song "All Fucked Up".... You know, I've been subbed to you for a bit now. I would estimate a month or so. I've enjoyed your reactions to many songs, most of which I enjoy highly myself and was curious to see what you thought. I think this one was a little more than that, though. This song was one that I had listened to over and over again during a dark period in my life a few years ago, when I was heavily suicidal but didn't want to revisit a mental ward.
