That is my Baby in the video she was 1 years old Rem'Niere aka Pork n bean... she is now 12. I still watch this video for inspiration. Shout out to Lupe
@@icantescapemyself lol im the only person who can call her that 🤣 😂 😅 she will be dropping music in the near feature as well she is still trying to come up with a music name... lets just say she declined my Pork n bean suggestion
lupe doesnt get as much credit as he deserves. he's been the greatest IMO for a minute now, and he's still droppin CLASSIC albums and mixtapes. these new kids don't understand
People dont want to listen to hip hop, they want the club joints with catchy beats and shitty lyrics, thats why lupe didnt make it.. I remember mtv used to play jurassic 5 and dilated peoples videos back in like 2002 and neither groups blew up. I say leave the underground to the real music lovers and let everyone else listen to shit like drake and lil wayne
Damn mixwell that's a prognosis for social disintegration, by definition disintegrating. We've tried for so long to keep media meaningful, to make humanity thoughtful, and lately, like ever-before but increased prominence, we allow and promote thoughtless existence.
I love lupe fiasco. unlike the crap rappers out now he actually has meaningful lyrics that tell a story and aren't about sex and money or a dumbass dance. He's extremely underrated imo.
Lupe is so genius His lyrical prowess is something to enjoy for everyday life folks that continue to battle and struggle, Alot of these cats wouldn't understand Lupe, He's very intelligent for the average listeners. Got his whole catalog of albums Food and Liquor, The Cool, Lasers, Food and Liquor 2 The Great American Story, Tetsuo, and Youth I'm ready for the next album. This track is one of my favorite of all-time Nikki Jean by far is one of the most beautiful creation that God has created Wow!! She's stunning, So easy on the eyes beautiful hair skin is flawless she's not your average girl. I wish more ppl would take Lupe serious and respect him for his craft and lyrics, This guy is probably one of the most prolific lyricist of our time and not appreciated enough. 🎤🎤
This song is timeless. It's crazy how the melody of the chorus popped in my head out of nowhere after all of these years. I had to dig in my memories to figure out which song it was and I finally found it, I feel good now.
***** radio has always played broad music that will capture the attention of the masses.. the radio has more uninspired bullshit then ever but that doesnt mean its a new thing.
Thegrandkru I'm 36 bro radio wasn't always like it is now. From the 80s to the late 90s they mostly played stuff like this and artist like lupe. I hear what you're saying though. Radio had always played crowd friendly music to dumb people down. Back then though the popular thing was to be conscious and set trends with creativity.
I remember the day I first heard this song. It was Feb 28th, 2008. I just got out of the penitentiary on the 26th. I was searching for "Hurt Me Soul" and came across this video. I literally had to fight back tears cause of how amazing this song is. This has to be one of the greatest songs ever recorded. Classics never die.
The fact the Cool didn't win a Grammy was when I first realized the Grammys are irrelevant when it comes to hip-hop. Seems like people are now coming to the realization with GKMC's loss in 2014.
***** Yo kanye made an entire album using autotunes (808's and heartbreak) and gets grammy lupe doesn't but get's and doesn't marry a kardashian and end up going insane putting out albums like Yesus.
Cah the grammy's don't know shit about true art. Fuck the grammy's. True appreciation of art like this comes from the fans and people who know what true art is.
rapidryu I do think that, and I'm not crazy. It's my opinion, I've listened to all of his songs and this one is in MY OPINION his best written song. I don't care if you think his other work is higher level. I've been listening to lupe since the cool, heard every song he's ever written. Just because I like a song better than his others that you don't think is better doesn't mean I'm not a lupe fan. Not everyone is crazy who doesn't have the same opinion as you.
Monta J oh so since I started at the Cool it's impossible to go back and listen to Food and Liquor? What do I have to have heard since he picked up the pen to right his first song? I've heard food and liquor, I've heard everything after. Not JUST after the cool. And after listening to every ONE of his songs, this is his best written in MY OPINION. What do y'all don't get about MY opinion being MY opinion, I know you have your own, don't come on here and bash mine just because it isn't the same as yours.
Monta J This kid stor314 is one of those that will just say it's my opinion when someone questions him on something...I'd just stop I mean he's like two look at his profile pic
Sargent-Watrous I'm actually 16. I don't understand how they are "questioning" me. It's not like I said something that needs a source or I need evidence to back up. All they're doing is wasting their time trying to tell me that my opinion is wrong. All I did was make a statement that doesn't harm anyone, isn't degrading or demeaning, just a single comment that was my opinion. You people on the internet seem to forget how an opinion works. Everyone has one, and when two people try to come up and tell me that mine is wrong just because it isn't the same as theirs, I'm going to remind them how an opinion works. In fact since I'm "two", and you're obviously older than me, it's kind of sad that you're not mature enough to know how it works either.
Lupe got me through some hard times, I thank this song the most but I'm not forgetting all his others like kick push, kick push 2, words I've never said, etc etc. but I'm ready to die now. Thank you lupe!
Stfu Lupe literally wrote this song about how mainstream music saves lives. You're viously just listening to Lupe to follow the herd of "real rap I'm cool guys". Pathetic.
let's see from 2001-2020 who the trap muzik blessed and lives changed, t.i, jeezy, gucci, Oj, yo gotti, young dolph, peewee longway, shawty lo, dfb, j-money, young scooter, ralo, bankroll fresh, lito ,trapperman dale, migos, hoodrich , drugrixh and more...
A decade later and Nikki Jean hasn't blown up yet, i have been rooting for her since this song. Can't believe she still not as big. i would swear she was going to blow after this.
Lupe Fiasco is legendary! From Kick,Push to Words I never said, to Daydreamin' & this song, these are all pieces of my memory in different stages of my twenties. I really appreciated his skills.
This video describes the song perfectly. This is what hip hop can be about! It doesn't have to be all about mindless, materialistic, superficial nonsense. There's room for some of everything in hip hop, including the kind of positive message-based, lyrical music that Lupe does!
When I first listened to this I was like this is trash. But, now as I have grown older and gained more focus. This really speaks to a higher level of my conscience. Thanks Lupe. We need you in hip-hop.
thats why i got love to alot of the ignorant rappers too.. cus i know alot of them really cones from the streets and almost had no chance in life.. and they put alot of they homies in positions to make legal money and feed they families cant hate on that. the music aint that good.. but fuck it if you come from the hood make it take care of ur homies u all good with me
This song is the only thing that makes me want to keep following my dream. Hope that I'll be able to share to the world that Lupe is one of the only artists that made me feel like a mixed race woman could make it in Hip Hop. Thanks Lupe. I listen to this song at least 3 times a day. It keeps me motivated. Hopefully to the top.
Mixed race has nothing to do with being a dope mc.. Listen to atmosphere, apathy, celph titled, ra the rugged man, lmno from visionaries, immortal technique.. Plenty of sick mcs who are white, hispanic in the scene. Hip hop isnt defined by skin color. Most people i know and talk to in the underground scene are white like myself or hispanic in LA.
Damn - I remember when this came out and getting a mixtape CD from Lupe that was straight fire in about 2008. Those were the days, forever ago. Really dope to know this song is about Slim Thug as well, that’s unique.
I ain't much of a rap fan, but I like music that has meaning to it, and this definitely does. Lol this this was back in the glory days, brings back great memories
I slept on Lupe Fiasco for too many years. From 2011 - 2012 Hip-Hop basically had a dark ages to the point that Nas called Hip-Hop dead. There were actually loads of good underground rappers but most of the mainstream was wack wack wack. Until about 2012 when TDE, Pro Era and Slaughterhouse started to come out of the underground and make some noise Hip-Hop was becoming embarrassing for anyone who saw Hip-Hop in the 90s. Rappers weren't lyrical, and beats were trash. Unfortunately for me all I heard from Lupe was his first hit Kick-Push whcih was actually alright, but didn't excite me more than that so I slept on him. My mistake, wasn't til Tetsuo and Youth that I realised how crazy talented this dude is. Mural is one of the dopest tracks of the year. But yeah this is dope to, Hip-Hop Saved My Life has depth, lyrical artists got slept on during the 'dark ages' and I'm sad to say I was sleeping too.
ToroidalVortexLove I don't know what you're talking about. First of all, something isn't a dark "age" if it is literally a year long. The fact that you can make any assumption about that time period baffles me. Secondly, Nas claimed that Hip-Hop was dead in 2006, far before this "dark age" that you claim. Lastly, the years that you described were FAR from a "dark" period in Hip-Hop. Kendrick burst onto the scene in 11 with Section.80 and had one of the best rap albums of the 2000s with Good Kid Maad City. J-Cole made a great record in 2011 along with Lasers from Lupe. In 2012 Future released a great album in Pluto, Schoolboy Q and Ab-Soul dropped their new records, and of course we can't forget about Nas with "Life Is Good", which ended up being a great album. You are simply wrong.
TheMichiganfan97 chillout bro he made a lot of great points even if his dates werent right. he recognized hip hop being in the dark ages within a period of what youre saying is fact. even tho its all subjective. dont get mad over music slow your role bud
murkawicz While he may have been correct about Hip-Hop Being in a slump, him using a 2006 Nas album to prove a dead era that he claims is in 2011-2012 is the most ridiculous thing I've heard. ALSO, just because what they play on the radio is shit does not make Hip Hop dead, as I clearly pointed out that there were several good-great albums in that period.
TheMichiganfan97 That's just one year, I meant 2001 - 2012, I mean a shit decade, not a shit year. And I agree just because what they play on the radio is shit does not make Hip Hop dead, I actually already said "There were actually loads of good underground rappers but most of the mainstream was wack wack wack." So I was strictly talking about mainstream rap music.
"stack that cheese" Somethin'-somethin'-somethin'; "stack that cheese" Mother, sister, cousin; "stack that cheese" He couldn't think of nothin'; "stack that cheese
My ALL TIME FAV SONG FROM KING LUPE! Cannot wait for “Stack That Cheese” which I believe it’s the sequel which also has Nikki Jean to bless us with the vocals! 🖖🏾✊🏾
