old skool, giving people relative understanding. good job mate! Using an ASA calculator you can do this using trigonometry(inverse tan), now you don't even need to understand trig. to use it,all the lengths and angles you need, simply input half spans and the roof angle.

Hi Mate, You can use a sliding bevel to copy the angles onto the actual timber although there are other methods that are easier and put the angle on the timber.

bloggs692413 Easiest way to get your Jack edge bevel is to mark the pitch angle on the side of the jack, draw a parallel line to your pitch line, the thickness of your rafter material, square the two lines across the top edge of rafter and join them together. Simples!
