Thank you, lovely commentary. But, pity you've killed him. According to Wikipedia in English and Japanese he's 88 now and alive. About his architectural theory (called Yukotai ,not Yukatai) I've found a short summary in Japanese and here it is in translation by Google: "Porous Body Theory / Yukotai Theory In his book 'What is Possible for Architecture? Architecture and Humanity', published in 1967, Hiroshi Hara develops the theory of porous bodies, in which spatial units with holes in the covering, form architecture through connections and control. Hara writes that "the form of a porous body is determined by the requirements of the internal space. In other words, the covering of a porous body is a reflection of the internal space," and attempts to define space by controlling the effectors of sound, heat, light, people, objects, etc., through holes. This theory of porous bodies results in architecture with a rich variety of expressions, which Hara says "attempts to preserve free areas as non-homogeneous spaces." In actual design, he has realized buildings based on the theory of porous bodies, such as the Ito Residence (1967), Shimoshizu Elementary School (1968), and Keimatsu Kindergarten (1968). This is also a criticism of modernist architecture, which is based on modern rationalism, that architecture should respond to unique requirements in each individual piece and cannot be homogeneous."
