www.sportaviati... -- At the E.A.A. Sun N Fun Convention Dan Johnson had an opportunity to talk with Matt Dandar of Recreational Power the U.S. Distributor for the Hirth Aircraft Engine line.
Matt has been serving the ultralight and experimental aircraft community for over 20 years. During that time he has also been supplying Hirth engines, parts and service to the airboat and hovercraft industries. Matt also revealed that Hirth is used quite extensively by the U.S. government in their drone aircraft fleet.
Hirth aircraft engines range in power from 28 to over 100 HP and are available with various reduction drives and ratios. All of the Hirth Aircraft engine produced today have been specifically developed for aircraft application. They are available for application in both tractor and pusher configurations.
Hirth also produces both air-cooled and liquid cooled engines in two and three cylinder versions. These engines can be carbureted and fuel injected.
