Pegasus DP-1, 4 stroke twin cylinder, 65 HP, experimental light sport aircraft engine.
The DP-1 is an exciting new development for aircraft and vehicles which need LIGHT WEIGHT AND RELIABLE POWER at an AFFORDABLE PRICE.
This kit provides all the necessary SPECIAL components to make a 100 cubic inch displacement engine that is a horizontally opposed, two-cylinder, 4-stroke, air-cooled gasoline powerplant that was specifically designed for light aircraft use.
The proprietary, custom designed, HIGH QUALITY components accept currently available, off-the-shelf O-200 parts.
The kit consists of:
Heat Treated A356 Cast Aluminum Case w/studs
State-of-the-Art, Super Strong, Fully Engineered, ADI, Flanged Crankshaft
Fully Assembled, Dynamically Balanced Crankshaft/Gear Assembly
Custom, Light Weight “H” Beam Rods
Custom, Light Weight, Forged 9:1 Pistons w/Rings
Custom Two-Cylinder, Flange Mount Manifold

I would have fun with this motor. I would equip it electronic multiport sequential fuel injection backed by electronic spark with knock sensor and boosted by a turbo charger and run that motor at lower RPMs with much more torque and better propeller efficiency. Then this motor would be new and special.

Nice engine, 1'600 cc is quite an impressive size for an air cooled flat twin, we knew just the 652 cc Citroën VISA and LNA avionized versions. Would anyone consider the Rotating Single Sleeve-Valve patented in 1917 by Piccard-Pictet, number GB 118.407? The retail price for a cylinder liner of an adequate size for this engine is in the range of $30, adding a gear in the bottom for having it turning looks neither difficult nor expensive. Comments?

2 years later it's still not available. Don't hold your breath. I get sick of getting excited about things like this and then they never come to fruition. No updates on their site since 2017. Fly by night, I guess.....

Pete just a great replacement for my rotax 503! Ive been lookin for a 4 stroke comp in weight, hp for my redback trike. That engine clearly is a great idea giving all those birds out there with ageing 503s a great alternative! So with my 503 iam cautious to do much xc flying keeping a good e/0 lz and such alternating tbo info at 500hrs. Clearly were lookin at 4 stroke continental reliability! With a much much higher tbo 1800 hrs possably. Not to mention the availability of future parts. Just great godspeed!

Ok, It is three years later, and no production yet. I am replacing my 503, and this is obviously, NOT going to be that replacement. If it is still not in production, imagine what the support will be like, when things break!

The accelerator pump on that carburetor from the Harley Davidson motorcycle is useless on a drone type application for a airplane motor. The accelerator pump is only good for a motor application that is constantly going from low revs to higher revs but on an airplane that does not take place.

Ray Dreamer - so you contend the pump cannot work on a continuous basis? What about all the freeway bikers I know who will hop on the interstate and ride 80 mph for hours at a time, "droning," as you say?

The accelerator pump prevents the engine from bogging down if you need to accelerate rapidly when aborting a landing. This can easily be a life or death situation.

why wouldn't you, good guys, cut io320 or 360 in half and beat Rotax 912. Much bigger market. Yours 57hp is not gonna comply with part 103 anyways. What is the point to invest in the replacement for 503 when 912 and 914 cost around 30000. I believe that half io360 in a kit form still going to cost less than used full size o200. If i was you i would cut all used 4 cillinder certified engines in half and sell them as kit engine. 2 stroke 100hp Hirth 3003 priced over 10000.

I want!!! How much...$30,000.00...$50,000.00...$100,000.00? Barrier to getting a pilot license...... It's the nature of the beast: ain't no cheap way of being a pilot nor owning an airplane.

ConvairDart106 with this one it’s same as the 4 cylinder counterpart so easy. Just plug the 2 unused ports with a rubber plug n there you go.

Did you watch the video? At all? The 503 with gearbox, exhaust etc, is almost exactly the same weight and less HP.
