Creating of Pain was not able to predict and Sasgay was made by Itachi. Orochimaru was like he is from the begining, Danzo was only doing busineses with him.
In fact, he was indirectly responsible for Sasuke, as he was the mastermind of the Uchiha massacre together with the elders. Óbito/Madara used the situation, but Danzo wanted them done and dead.
Liar. He didn't create Orochimaru. He just knew what he became and used him to create Hashi Cells which helped countless people. The anime makes it look like Danzō convinced Hanzo to betray Akatsuki, but that's filler. In the manga, Hanzo planned on betraying Akatsuki the entire time while Danzō was simply there to secure a peace between their villages since most wars end up there. Don't blame him for the Uchiha Massacre either. That was on them for their arrogance and ignorance. Obito framed them for the Nine Tails Attack and instead of proving their innocence, they plan on killing the Hokage and anyone who stands in their way as they take over Konoha. There's a reason Itachi agreed with him. You sleep on how much Danzō has done. He's not nearly as evil as you think.

That's why it's easier to write if they all died immediately. Likewise, Tsunade's reign was brief. Naruto and Kakashi only became Hokage after the Great Peace so they have easy jobs. After Naruto dies, there's no guarantee for some uber peace. I also bet Tobirama's reign was filled with doubters and people who thought they could take him down without his brother's help, forcing him to make difficult decisions.

Danzo was nothing like Itachi. Itachi was a kind child with wisdom well beyond his years and not an ounce of hatred or cowardice in his heart. Danzo was a cowardly young Shinobi who failed to volunteer as a decoy whereas Hiruzen did so heroically. Danzo was full of hatred and even did some things that were disloyal to the well being of the leaf for the sake of power. Danzo did love the leaf, but he loved power even more. Itachi had no desire for power. Only peace and the well-being of his little brother.
This is it folks , the worst Hokage in ruling. Most of the problems of the series , tends to end up on "because Danzo". In truth Hiruzen kept Danzo alive because he was his Homie

Agree about the reason why Sandaime kept him alive, but it was obvious on Shippuden that Danzo stop caring about the village, and only wanted the title of Hokage. He did not help the village during Pain destruction. His arrogance over Hiruzen changed him into a shadow villian.
Hiruzen is also the son of a more ruthless shinobi than Danzo; Sarutobi Sasuke! He understands everything that needs to be done and keeping Danzo by his side is one of them.

Danzo makes the hard choices for hard problems. Not many people can do what has to be done for the good of a nation. In this case the leaf village. Just look at the real world for example.
What hard choice ha all he did is create more problems to leaf village. Because of him Uchiha clan destroyed which could be avoided because of him konoha village destroyed from pain attack because of him villains created like pain because of him good ninja like Sasuke Itachi and the main akatsuki member have to become villains. He didn't love konoha, he loved himself and craved for the power and position of hokage represents. He had konoha destroyed by pain and its inhabitants killed just for him to claim the title of hokage on top of a pile of ashes.
@@Garlic2111 he know akatsuki existed, he know what theyre capable of, with Naruto/9 tails living in Konoha a public information, its expected to something would go down. Also we don't know what he and his anbu root were doing during orichimaru's invasion. We do know he had a business dealings with orichimaru and have few common interests, although both back stab each other. in both invasions, when the country was in its darkest hour of crisis, he and his anbu root were nowhere to be found.
@Martyn737 that's an interesting point of view, but i dont think that danzo would let pain just obliterate the village, considering that other villages could've taken advantage and attacked also he wouldnt have missed the opportunity to get some glory and at the very least hold pain until naruto got there, he was more than capable to last againts pain for at least 5 minutes, he demonstrated it by fighting Sasuke. What im thinking is that he did not know the raw power of pain. Probably most of ambu hq got also obliterated during the attack or even he himself died, do we know that he didn't die ?

Hiruzen was actually just super permissive. TBH I feel like he had a lack of character development but that's not uncommon among old people. I think his personality was realistic.
When I was watching Naruto I felt like 90% of the problems were created by Danzo….if he wouldn’t be there then the 4th Great Ninja War wouldn’t have occurred

If you compare Madara vs Danzo in terms of being bad guys, you will see that Danzo takes more reactions than Madara, thats the reason why Danzo is in my opinion best villian in Naruto. You will never see people react on Madara like this; ,,Ohh not that Madara again''... ,,Fuck this scum Madara''... Instead you will see that peole have more love then hate for Madara because of his reasons for starting shit, or because of his power in fact you will say ,,Oh but Madara is just broken guy he never was evil ect..'' While Madara's power deserves a topic on his own, his villainy is limited only to the acts he actually gets to act on. Most of his plans is credited to obito. The yardstick of villainy is measured on its grand scale, lengths it took to achieve it, its outcome and most importantly the objective it plays in regard to the story of the protagonist. Danzo certainly has a high scale but not a S+. His goal is to wear the hokage cap on top on a pile of ash and ocean of blood of his own people. Yes he is a hated character but hate and villainy are still two different things. Yes he's a scum and bad but his ascension to the top was taking power from others in their weak state, hiding on shadows and running away from the fight, their fight. So what is the mission of Danzo? to save the leaf as he passionately claimed? no If villains can't be truthful to themselves, then they're not worthy of a villain. The philosophy he created for and in anbu root is contradictory to his actions he claims and to himself. he played and succeeded in the dark. Wanted to go to the front stage and into the spotlight. He got it under the underhanded circumstances he created, and he failed on his first day of work. Orochimaru has a higher standing compared to Danzo. But I believe most people don't like danzo is because he lacks that villain theme song or at the very least memorable one.
Nah itachi is a kind hearted amazing person who did what had to be done but feeling all the pain of the horrible things he had to do. Danzo was a selfish piece of shit that was loyal to the leaf but wanted control over it and didnt care on how many innocent lives he stepped on to reach his goals. He is not “just like itachi”
I think it was because of the motivations between the two. Itachi did what he did purely for his younger brother, and to save the leaf from destruction which would have ended up with the Uchiha clan dead too. Because all other enemy villages would have smelled the blood from the rebellion and come swarming. Danzo did it because he wanted his dream to be hokage to become reality at any cost. For Danzo it seems the harsh route was the only route.

That's not a good enough, Even if Sarutobi needed Danzo for doing dirty jobs that still not a good excuse, as it wasn't like he didn't have other people that could do that stuff as well like the ANBU commander/captain, since that is kind of ANBU's job, furthermore he also had the likes of his other shinobi like Konohamaru's father and mother, both of whom where elite ANBU that few people knew about. Keeping Danzo around was like having a vicious dog who wasn't loyal to you to guard your home, sooner or later that dog would turn on you, and keeping him around after he already tired to attack you is just asking for trouble and to attack you again....which he did
In hindsight it was a bad idea but donzo role of being the black ops dirty guy was something the leaf did need just not to that extreme. Remember the other villages played dirty too just look at the hyugua situation where they tried to steal the byakugaun and then almost started a war because the operation failed, there was no room to play nice.

Furthermore Konoha had other capable shinobi that could do the dirty work as well and at least then Sarutobi would have had someone he could trust and was loyal, unlike Danzo. This fact was stated many times before where many shinobi both inside and outside of Konoha referred to Danzo has representing the very worst of Shinobi which is highlighted by the fact that they referred to his as the Darkness of Shinobi. Had not framed the old Akatsuki and tried to destroy them, blackmailed Kabuto adopted mother and use and betray Kabuto, as well as help cause the Uchiha Massacre and try a possible peaceful alternative that Sarutobi tried. Many of the events like the Konoha attack or the Fourth Shinobi War could have been avoided, or at least certain events might not have gone as badly. Fact is forgiving a former enemy/rival or betrayer, may seem noble and honorable if not enlightened. It is still not always a good idea, especially if you aren't keeping a close eye on them and their actions, as you are just asking o be stabbed in the bag again, just Look at Ceasar, he forgave many former enemies and people who betray him and in the end they stabbed him in the back again, both literally and figuratively.
Hiruzen has one weakness, he is too kind and passive. I remember he was willing to sacrifice Neji Father to appease another village even though they did defended the assassination attempt.

Hiruzen’s greatest weakness was sadly his strength, his attachments. It made him grandfather to all of village, but prevented him from stopping his student Orochimaru and his former team mate and friend Danzo.
Danzo always did what he thought was best; he even had a contingency plan for every clan in konoha; he definitely deserves to be on the Hokage monument a reminder that there will always exist people who will go against the status quo; the shadow Hokage + he was still Hiruzen’s best friend
The various clans, along with danzo as well, wanted Naruto as their weapon but obv there was a deadlock and instead they restricted each other, Hiruzen who's the hokage and also a sarutobi would be observed by all the top echelons of the village. Hence, he couldn't do much for Naruto as he had no leverage because at that point everyone thought the yellow haired kid was trash and talentless. With the uzumaki clan destroyed, and Naruto's parents dead, there was no political play Hiruzen could've done even with his foxy characteristic.
Danzo was the Sasuke and Itachi quote: Hokage protecting the village from the shadows. Danzo was true shinobi put the Leaf village above everything. Every mess,politics or espionage was done by him for 3 wars. Dont talk shit like that he was usless

I'm starting to think we need an arc between where the 1st hokage died to when hiruzen became hokage. It would be fair not only for tobirama, but also danzo's POV to what made him the man he was because I like to believe young danzo wasn't cruel. It would be great to see hiruzen in his youth days too, dude looks cool.
True that Danzo was loyal to the leaf, but we all know that the Uchiha massacre was something that could've been avoided only if the racism towards them ended and they tried cooperating for once. Well one one side you can understand the Uchihas, on the other side look how many times Maddara changed his mind about peace, the problem is untill Tsunade became hokage the elders and danzo also were involved in a lot of Hokage decisions, and we all know how dirty and suspicious all 3 of them were, if Kakashi or Tsunade was hokage at that time i have no doubt that the Uchihas and Konoha woukd come to terms....Since Tobirama literally hated Uchiha guts even as the Hokage which is the reason why they were pushed to the outer part of the village, that mentality stayed through the whole next generation

I always love when fanfics make it so Danzo and Hiruzen aren’t enemies, but still friends who understand their roles in the village. I hate it when they make Danzo just like he is in canon obsessed with being Hokage and an excuse for all of the dumb decisions made by the village early on to absolve Hiruzen

Hiruzen couldn't do much for a lack of evidence to show and the sympathy he had with the elders. As a matter of fact hiruzen didn't want the uchiha clan to be destroyed but due to what happened with kurama and fukaku gathering the clan to make a revolt was what resulted as a decision.
Which makes Hiruzen just as evil. Sure he couldn't do those horrible things first hand. But he willingly turned a blind eye to the guy who was thirsty to commit war crimes.
I always thought it was better the enemy you know, similar to why Megatron kept starscream around, better the evil you can see then the evil you can’t. Hiruzen knew Danzo would eliminate any threat to his attempt at taking the Hokage mantle, leaving Hiruzen to keep focus on Danzo and any allies he obtained, the evil he knew
