This is my 2nd Channel about making money in home improvement. My main channel is all the work I do remodeling homes. Here is the link to the main channel / thehandyman1 Hats are back in stock thehandyman.store/
I really appreciate you posting this. Quickest to the point and most comprehensive video on the topic I’ve seen. Congrats on the success and thank you!
Love the transparency! It’s funny how grumpy some people get when they hear how much someone is making when they get to watch essentially free. People have so many opinions on others finances. Just be happy for people’s success and respect the work they’ve put into it.
It's true about prices, if you are so busy you don't have time for family, you need to raise your prices.. Some of the smalljobs will go away, but that is ok. I owned a carpet cleaning franchise for 25 years. Like you I was a one man operation. People loved knowing it was I who was going to show up, and do a great job. I had a lot of regulars who would leave the door unlocked for me, with a list of what they wanted done with a blank check signed
Good for you handyman, you work your butt off. More than 99.9% of others. I have a feeling much of your success is due to that as well. I appreciate everything you’ve taught me over the years too.
Street speed 717 is my homie!!!! Yous both are great people and wish you the best handy man and not only for money but health and longevity.. god bless you brother
Very Impressive and thanks for being so candid. I'm sure you'll get some people who will be jealous but there's a lot of hard work and talent behind the channel. I've learnt a lot as a DIY-er from your videos. Keep them coming!
Just wanted to say I love both your channels. It is great to see you doing great and just wanted to say thank you for all the effort you put in. You give away all your content to use for “free” and support your family. Happy new year!
Super impressive Handydude, what to go. Your success is much deserved and I look forward to every video you put out on all of your channels. Might I make a request...when you do your next live stream, can you give us a one day warning so those of us that normally aren't night owls know not to go to bed?
I appreciate you sharing that! You were one of the reasons I left my 21 year management job with UPS 2 years ago! Self employed now and absolutely love it! The best decision I have ever made! I work alone mostly as a flooring contractor but also complete small remodels! I worked for a general contractor who built custom homes when I was a kid and learned a ton of trades. Thank you!
Thanks to this video I'm going to follow your lead! Starting a welding shop in 1.5-2 years when the wife graduates and we move back home. Will be in conjuction with RU-vid as well now! Already a photographer/videographer/public speaker (and have a big beard), so thank you for the info and the push! No reason not to at this point!
Awesome video! I been doing this RU-vid thing for a couple years and I love it. I appreciate you putting this information out there. Thank you Handyman!
I always watch through all the ads. I also leave your vids on loop all day while I'm at work in case I have unexpected visitors. I'm happy to help any way I can!
So cool to hear this. I sat there watching streetspeeds old videos. I remember watching him buy the duramax amd wrapping that first corvette. Funny to hear you say that man!
I can only imagine the time and effort that goes into a 10 minute video. Problem with what we do is the rooms are so small it's hard to get a picture at all. Editing all the content, dealing with the sponsors and keeping track of it all - and doing your actual work - and your wife and kids.......anyone who thinks anyone can do this better have drive and overdrive. Don't sell your self short Handyman, Oh and I had a customer ask me just this morning why I charge more than twice the other guy? Because I can sir, that's why.
Thanks for sharing all this info. I really appreciate it. It reminds me of a recent episode about Doug Demuros RU-vid channel and how he set up other businesses to take advantage of his RU-vid notoriety. Keep up the good work.
You handyman have got me going on RU-vid. It’s not much but I also pull in some income and hope to continue to grow both subscribers and income. THANKS AGAIN PAL!! YO SONNY!!
I had no idea you were making that kind of money with your videos but I'm happy to hear it. I've been both educated and entertained by watching and I'm glad your getting your worth.
Just an insight on my opinion but besides the beard I think a lot of us agree that the way you work, the way your shop looks, and the down to earth personality you have show people how real it is. Your not a fancy dancy channel that is so clean and proper. Your a real guy doing real work. Love it. Thanks for posting.
Keep on keeping on! People under estimate how much time and effort go into producing / editing videos not to mention how much more time projects take when your shooting video for them. I tried and had to stop because I didn't have the time and was losing money. More power to you! I'm jealous!
Thanks for everything you do Handy... You've been a huge inspiration to me in starting my channel. Any advice for someone starting out who has a gross patchy beard? I have considered Rogaine but maybe I'm just not committed enough. Thanks again.
Thanks for the transparency. I wonder how much other DIY RU-vidrs with 5-9M subscribers are making. Some of those bigger RU-vidrs don't take advertising, but they may not need to based on their volume of views. Congratulations on your success.
I have been doing a channel of my own for a while now and it just isn't working out as well as I have hoped for. I am a photographer and videographer so the quality of the videos is there but I can't convert subscribers. I have made the decision to break up with my channel and begin a new one on a completely different topic. All this to say, for whatever reason I found your channel, I want to thank you for the motivating words and the numbers you shared. I don't need 350k a year to be happy but it helps to know that it could be possible to build to those numbers in the future. For now, I am ready to begin the new journey. Thank you and I will be following you from now on!
Subscribed to your channel! I’m curious what having almost 4,000 subs generates? Also curious how long it took to get from 0 to where you are? I’m at 60 so it’s going to be a while before I get to where you are at haha
Power of the beard lol Anyway I have a manly busy beard and it hasn’t hurt my career in IT. In fact I know a few other IT people with beards like mine and everyone thinks it’s cool. I guess it’s time for me to start YT videos. Anyway always enjoy watching your videos even though I’m not a handyman or contractor. I appreciate the honesty with which you showed us all the numbers. Pretty good stuff really
Great stuff. Too many people undervalue themselves and what they think people will pay. It’s uncomfortable for some people to ask for more money. But you need to force yourself to be uncomfortable and go for it.
Thanks for this video, I knew y’all made money for this but holy shit batman! And I say congratulations to you brother. Your videos are by far the most professional in all aspects. There are other great channels in their profession as well. Keep rocking it brother.
Good for you. All great information. I've got some customers that don't even ask for an estimate now, as they'd hire nobody else. Make yourself irreplaceable, & the sky's the limit. Making videos is not for me, but what an opportunity for those who have the knack. Learning multiple skills is key. Read business, financial & investing books: The Millionaire Next Door, The Millionaire Mind, The Everyday Millionaire. Dave Ramsey has a great series of books especially for becoming debt free.
Fair play to you HM on how you've achieved by having the guts to try something and thinking outside the box when it comes to earning money. Never underestimate the power of the beard.
I’ve considered starting my own business for a few years. I started watching your videos about a month ago. I’m now getting moving towards it because of your information and started realizing how much of myself was getting in the way.
Thank you for sharing I always wanted to know how much you make off of your handyman videos because I want to do the same thing I’m a home-improvement guy I just don’t have the balls to start all the time because I’m so busy with work
What I’ve been trying is to create content one day a week. Generally they say posting about once a week will keep the consistency needed to get the channel off the ground. Go for it man, and see what happens! Definitely a learning curve to making good videos but it’s fun for me. Check out the channel! Cheers
@@TheHandymanBusiness I follow you there too and just now saw your post when I clicked your link. No notification... Guess I'll have to keep a closer eye out. Maybe you're too conservative for them to promote you! Any advanced notice would be appreciated. I got some super chats burning a hole in my pocket
Merry Christmas Handyman! I just started my handyman business and I’m trying not to give people an hourly, but just kind of bid each job. I have made a lot of money so far by simply bidding even the small work. I live in a large west coast city.. but A lot of my work is “hey I need you to look at my garbage disposal, then hang some pictures, then fix the threshold.” It’s very hard to bid that because I don’t really know if the garbage disposal is bad vs jammed until you actually look at it, threshold needs adjusting vs replacing, etc. (these are just examples) How do you bid things when there are so many unknowns. If I have a new client that gives me a list like that and then says by the way what’s your rate, I’m not sure how to respond. Thanks Handyman
I was feeling pretty good about getting just over $100 per month in ad revenue. Then I saw your stats, LOL. Thanks for sharing, this provides additional motivation for me to continue to upload videos daily.
Look, I get you, asking higher prices. But I see your work and how high quality it is. There is no question in my mind that you're probably asking quite a bit but I see the high quality output that you do. When I go on Angie's list or wherever I don't know that I'm going to find a handyman that has your quality of work. I don't mind paying high prices for high quality but when you shell out hard-earned money for work that's slightly above what I'm capable of it is really frustrating and discouraging. Many times I've posted on your videos about someone in Arizona that does this quality of work to reply to my comments and I have never had anyone do it. I think your work quality is exceptional as is your ethic.
Guess I'm going to start my own contracting business and record content for videos at the same time. Obviously worth the time and energy to pursue this.
