My father died in 1975. He left his 8 yo son a small record collection. The album on the turntable was "Back in '72" by Bob Seger. I must have listened to this song a thousand times.

@@Chris-rh9ej A few years back a local classic rock radio station was trying to get a street named after him in Ann Arbor. It would have crossed Main Street, which would have been perfect. I don't know what happened, but, he ended up with a street in Allen Park, which doesn't make much sense.

Arguably one of the best concert albums ever, for sure ~ I saw him live for the first time in '77 just after it and Night Moves were released ~ I saw him a total of 13 times live, the last in Pittsburgh two weeks before his final retirement tour show in Philly on 11/1/2019 ~ IMO Bob was one of the really great arena rockers, he sounded better live than in studio ~ I can't count all the shows I spent money on to go see live and they were absolutely trashed, literally, and unable to perform a single worthwhile song ~ As a perfectionist, you got your money's worth when you paid to see Bob, and then some!! Saw him at Rock Superbowl VIII, Tangerine Bowl in Orlando FL in April 1980 and OMG what a show!! His other live concert album, Nine Tonight, is also worth a mention ~ If you haven't heard Bob Seger and the Borneo Band, the line up just before SBB, search RU-vid for Cleveland Connection 1973 ~ Also Bob Seger Whiskey a Go Go 1975 is something not heard often ~ Sorry I got carried away, LOL

As a musician, I really like your reactions because you pick up on melodies and lyrics really fast and you can really adapt and feel just about any kind of music and emote it. Plus it's funny. So yeah that's great man. I had his albums in high school and I listened to him a lot. One of the ones even at that very young age that meant so much to me, and of course now that I am much older it means even more, is his hit Running Against the Wind. I have a feeling you would really dig it. BTW, his name is pronounced like "SEEger" as opposed to "SAYger" ...

Love Metallica but hate what they did to this song. I'm sure you'll hear people go crazy for it, but I can't see it. It's probably bc I was a Seger fan first and I was feeling like you were just now, Sceez, when I heard it. This sounds like a pop radio version tho. Crowd was too quiet and I'm not sure there are strings in the original album version like this one. It was still good. Can't go wrong with Bob!
