Don't forget that it's TCL CSOT that supplies the screens for Sony and Samsung. The difference lies in the image processing, that's all. The assembly standards are the same for all brands.

I disagree, especially after owning a top of the line Hisense. Motion is off, local dimming is off, gaming is definitely off, just too many compromises. Lg Oled, Samsung Oled or high end LCD and of course Sony Oled and some real good lcd models as well. If you want to save money for a descent/average tv just get a cheaper TCL, then buy a flagship Oled from any of the major 3 brands once you have the “coin”

Motion isn't great, but you probably just had a bad panel. I had last years U7H and U8H, which the latter I still own, and they were both amazing! Good black levels, brightness operating system. Of course you have to calibrate it to get the best picture but they're definitely great televisions.

After a frustrating experience with Samsung (smudges on the screen and very low performance) I went to TCL and now I have a Hisense. I wouldn’t go down to Element or Haier. Just stick with TCL, that thing is good enough for the majority of the people while only cost half the price of a Sony. I own both a Sony and a TCL at home and honestly they both looked great. But my Sony cost 500% the price of the TCL for maybe 1-2% of quality improvement. And if I don’t tell you, you’ll probably never even notice the difference. The only thing about TCL is that you might want to play around with the picture/sound settings out of the box and Sony is already doctored for you. But once you get to the right config the two TV looked the same at the correct viewing distance. 😂

TCL and hisense have come a long way and have improved greatly every year. Samsung and sony will need to adjust things if they want to stay competitive because tcl and hisense are right on their heels with their tvs. If they get their software and motion upgraded, they'll take over the market. I will probably get the 75 inch hisense u8k. That panel is a ips aps panel at that size. The 55 and 65 inch are VA panels so that is also something to consider. @@Papa_WooWoo Difference between Sony and ALL the other is longevity and experience in the business of not only audio and video but PRODUCING professional content (movies) audio and video so they know FAR more about the entire process than any other companies COMBINED. And the fact that consumers obviously understand the quality differences by owning their Sony TVs and average of 6.7 yrs and LG and Samsung are closer to 3.1 and TCL/Hisense are at 2.7 yrs. Surprisingly u8g still beats out alot of led tvs with native contrast (rrtings) but doesnt matter as most will use local dimming. Also EOTF tracking was bad for U8G based on rrtings but U8H onward fixed that. Since there are no perfect TVs, the model that you decide to buy is the TV that offers you the most features you really want and has the fewest "compromises" that would bother you. I don't deny that both Hisense and TCL make excellent LCD TVs that offer great bang-for-the-buck value in their price range. I will say, though, that my personal preference is for OLED and QD-OLED TVs since I'm drawn to the high-quality image they display, and in my particular situation I don't actually need the extra brightness that LCD panels provide. (I'm also willing to pay extra for a reliable, long-lasting TV.) I realize that other folks have different criteria and I can understand how a Hisense or TCL TV would be the perfect choice for them to buy.

Personally: I don't consider LG because of the unintuitive mess that the WebOS is and their Wii-like remote control. More importantly, Sony and Samsung TVs generally don't offer the same performance in blooming and black levels of a Hisense at the "SAME" price point. Also, it doesn't seem to be the case that Samsung or Sony upscale SD content significantly better than Hisense or TCL unless someone on RU-vid can actually show that in a comparison video.

LG and hisense are some of the most returned tvs. Hisense glitches and reliability is as bad as RCA, westinghouse, insignia. Something to consider. TCL is one of the more reliable brands. Samsung and sony outsource to TCl for some models. Sony picks and choose the best panels from various companies so their reliability is more consistent. It's more about how they assemble the parts, what OS they use and image processing then panel outright as they all use similar panels standard for assembly for all models. Right now i would choose TCL over hisense for reliability as both are kinda on par spec wise. That said TCL usually needs more calibration, hisense and sony tv are better out of box and image processing makes thier PQ look sharp. So if you are buying for people who wont set up hisense is probably more impressive then TCL washed out look. This is why channels like this are key if you buy by brand you will be disappointed, in each brand there are certain models worth buying and some to stay away from. Also there is a point of diminishing returns, I got sony 93L this black friday as it was only few hundred off the 90L and uk8 and Qm8. Sale prices can also play big factor in which v you get. I also choose 93L over 95L because of diminishing returns for the price points. Also it was a Tv for upstairs bay window room ie very bright room. I think TCL and hisense are great choices year round, but if you can wait for deals getting an oled or higher end model when they have price drops on sales and in june clearances can nab you a way better tv for similar price points.

I don't know how it is in America with Hisense TV, but here in Europe these entry-level models are total crap and every cheapest Samsung for the same price is much better. Surely TCL in Europe is better than Hisense and of course you Americans are lucky to have better Hisense tv than us in Europe. Of course, it's always important what the user wants from the TV, and let's say that this extra contrast picture and the emphasis on the blackest possible color do not suit me at all. For me, the most important thing is that the TV shows as clear a color picture as possible and that the TV does the best UPSCALING, of course, at the same time it must have great picture movement, because I don't watch any 4K at all, and the HD ones are worse than they should be, and HDR content too I don't watch it. For me, the TV does not need to have more than 2 HDMI2.1 and no additional things for playing games, since I don't play them, but even if I were to play something, I would be satisfied with how the TV displays it. I always prefer less contrast and more DETAILS in the picture, even though there is also a little blomming and for me Sony is still the TV that would please me the most, but what if they have these abnormal prices. I would certainly choose it from all the TVs on the market from MiniLed to OLED at the moment this year's Sony X95L, because for me it would be a perfect TV, although the lower model X90L would also be a good choice, and I'd rather take it than any TCL or Hisense TV.

A SILVER DOLLAR sized circle on the lower left hand corner of the screen. Stay away! I hope my mother’s 55” doesn’t suffer the same fate. I will never buy another TCL. I still think in terms of pure picture quality (excluding quality control) Samsung, LG, and Sony are all better than TCL and Hisense. That's not really debatable. What IS up for debate is how much better they are and how much that is worth the difference in price to each individual buyer. I think people focus too much on quality control when all the companies have issues in that area. My general rule of thumb is that if money is an issue, TCL and Hisense are 10000% fine, though I'm biased more towards TCL as a better brand. If you want to get a TV 75 inches or higher and are not filthy rich, TCL and Hisense are fine. If you REALLY need that extra bit of image quality or money is no object, the other 3 brands are the go-to. I'm a Sony person myself, but I find myself questioning how much longer the current regime of "The Big 3" will last. The world is getting increasingly poorer if you aren't in the top 5% of income, and the value to performance ratio for a TCL TV in particular simply can not be beaten. I just got myself a Sony A80K (the 77 inch was on sale for $2,500) but I was extremely close to pulling the trigger on a TCL QM8, which is something I never would have done just a couple of years ago, and I think that speaks volumes. Thank you for coming to my ted talk

X90L. Black crush is far worse than slightly lifted black levels and blooming. My grandma has a LG nanocell and that tv is terrible. It has lifted blacks, black crush, and it don’t even get bright. But the black crush is so terrible with local dimming turned on that it’s not even watchable in dark scenes in a dark room. All you see is the backlight flashing on and off with the scene but can’t see anything going on. I’ve never seen a tv so TERRIBLE. I can’t believe LG is a name brand and releasing such terrible garbage tvs. Crazy thing is that tv is only a few years old now and it was over $1,200 for the 55 inch. I wouldn't touch Hisense with a barge pole. The H9G series came with a design/component flaw that caused the main board to fail consistently at around the 4 year mark. The cause was an eMMC storage chip that has poor performance when it's working, coupled with a short, erratic life. Hisense did absolutely nothing to help their customers, leaving us to pay for repairs that cost, through a mail-in repair depot, around $200 each time the wretched board failed. Of course I'm sure they've fixed the problem in later models, but after being hung out to dry by Hisense I'm not inclined to give them a second chance. Meanwhile, since my Hisense H9G will likely fail in another few years, I am looking elsewhere for TVs.
