Over the past 10 years, TCL has taken the world by storm with their massive 100-inch+ TVs at mind-bendingly low prices. But, there’s another player that has also eaten up a bunch of TV market share from the shadows and that’s none other than Hisense. Hisense and TCL are both Chinese TV giants but the road to the top was completely different for either company. Hisense has been in the TV industry since the early 1970s. In fact, they were forced to make TVs and learn Western manufacturing methods by the Chinese government. This naturally gave them a headstart within the Chinese market but it took them decades to actually be competitive within western markets. This video explains Hisense’s long journey to the top and whether the shadow giant can eventually displace TCL as the new TV king.

I only buy hisense, I bought one couple years ago when i first moved out on my own and got my first apartment, and after a couple months, a storm came through a messed the TV up. I called hoping they'd help, but I figured they wouldn't. Initially they said they couldnt but after explaining the situation i was in to the rep, to my surprise, he told me to send it in (they gave me a shipping label), and they'll replace it. Pretty sure it was the reps call whether they'd warranty it or not but due to him helping me in a tough spot, every tv I bought after is a hisense. P.s. the replacement tv lasted 7 years before I sold it (I was still working fine) because I was moving and couldn't take it with me

My wife and I are Chinese students who immigrated to US. In our house, we have the 75" $4000+ Samsung 8K OLED in the our master bedroom. This is where my wife and I relax and watch TV 99% of the time, so we went and got the best. There are also Vizio and 2 TCL 65" ones (1 in the mancave, living room and play room). Basically TCL and Hisense are very affordable TV that's good enough for most uses, especially good when they users are accident prone kids. Even if the kids break all 3 of those somehow, it still won't be cost more than $1200.
@cajampa
@cajampa 15 дней назад
No you don't have a 75" $4000+ Samsung 8K OLED tv, because there is no such thing and never was. You are confused. What you are talking about is a QLED Samsungs Tv with the fake name QLED branding, to trick customers like you to believe that what they bought really is an OLED panel. It is not. It is an regular old LCD TV. When you finally buy an actual OLED you will understand the difference.

Stop giving ppl lecture. U dont have to money to buy all those. This guy has money bought those tv so he own the braggign right. If u dont own HIsenese or Samsung to compare, move on . Just like if Tesla owner buys 3 series, Y series they have the RIGHT to announce Tesla Y vs BMW X5 which 1 is better .NOT u. Before u own Hisense. Stop projecting your opinion. I had $5000 SHARP led. I own the bragging rights for owning premium 60” tv how thats compring to HIsense. Hisense U8 series match $5000 Tv I had before. Before U having ANY of those premium LEDS. Stop giving pp lecture of “OH OLED IS BETTER” like how those GAS ⛽️ car owners group up shading the Tesla. When they HAD NEVER even set a toe in Tesla. All their opinions are from OTHER EV haters. 😊

@@wyw201 Just straight fact dude. What do you think you are talking about? Tell me the model name of Samsungs OLED 8K 75" TV then. You will be embarrassed when you realize there are no such thing. There never was an 8K OLED Samsung or a 75" OLED Samsung and certainly not any such imagined models for only $4000. OLED's come in 55" 65" 77" and 83".... No 75". Because that is how the mother glass is cut. And Samsung have never sold a 8K OLED, only 4K OLED TV screens. Their 8K stuff is all QLED LCD screens. LG have 8K OLED screens. You should check out how much one of those cost. And you will see how silly the notion of a $4000 75" 8K OLED TV is.

If u bought an LG in 2012, Depends what model how MUCH u spent. Its Most Likely NOT a LG, but a Sharp TV. 2010-2011 GLOBAL TV market 100% LED TVS were PRODUCED by 1 single company SHARP tV. All the LEDs even reach into 2012 were SHARP TV but putting on LG SONY Samsung Logos. Hisense bought Hisense in 2015 n still has most of Sharp patterns. If u get a SHARP LED SONY LED today u might see their Panels look worse after that. Their Own LED technology was not the same. Especially SONY has significantly inferior pestel color on EVERYTHING cuz their own LED use Phosphors blue light as Main light . The Hisense TCL Rokus are their cheap low end. Their GOOGLE/android Panel has Crushing LG SONY leds for 5 years. That LG completely GAVE UP producing better LEDS, they only re launched the same model the previous year the year before. Because their TVs couldnt compete. I am talking about HIsense TCL premium line have been crushing SONY LG flagship LED panel. Its insane u wont believe it till seeing ti.

@michaelbeckerman7532
@michaelbeckerman7532 15 дней назад
@@MaddJakd Exactly. And that's the ONLY reason why companies like TCL and Hisense even stay in business. Their only value-add is their price (with VERY few exceptions). How did you think companies like TCL and Hisense got to be as big as they did as fast as they did? Hint: It wasn't by building and selling high-quality, reliable products.
@MaddJakd
@MaddJakd 15 дней назад
@michaelbeckerman7532 Thing is, they were the panel suppliers for many of the "real" manufacturers, so theoretically one is ending up with "yesteryear's top panel" or equivalent getting a TCL or Hisense. Of course, the basic folk wouldn't know what they're looking at even if experts and image-nuts pointed it all out.
@michaelbeckerman7532
@michaelbeckerman7532 15 дней назад
@@MaddJakd Right, but as an OEM supplier they build to the spec of the customer and they QC as the customer specifies as well, as per their contract. That's a VERY different scenario from when a company is making their OWN products in their factory. When they are doing that, they can do whatever they want - and they can also skip/leave out whatever steps they like as well. This is why people are greatly mistaken when they say, "Oh, all TVs basically come out of five or six primary global factories so they are really all the same." No, they aren't. Not even close, as a matter of fact.

i wonder how many of these so called TCL flagships, end up on the sidewalk of the street for garbage pickup, or end up within 6 years in a thriftshop? they still use cheap component on the inside, the outside is a shiny package. still tvs look great, but i just wait for a couple of years see how tcl develops

@@J0YSTTIICK Actually, we do have that data. Consumer Reports has compiled 20+ years of it now. Sony 2.) essentially a tie between LG and Samsung.
@J0YSTTIICK
@J0YSTTIICK 7 дней назад
@@michaelbeckerman7532 that’s fair, I just don’t thinks it’s that simple. TCL and Hisense have changed dramatically over just the last 5 years. Going back 20 years isn’t helpful. Budget tvs have always had cheap parts hence worse reliability. They also sell the majority of the cheap tvs along with Samsung who also sells bad budget tvs. Sony is selling more premium expensive tvs. They have very little market in the budget range. I have Sony tvs because I don’t trust these brands fully yet either but we would be silly to say they aren’t catching up to the big players quickly. Their premium models are much more competitive and definitely becoming more reliable.

DO NOT buy cheap electronics. If they aren't made properly (or are just cheap and have cut corners), they can literally catch fire and burn your house down. Not worth it to save $50 on a TV. Buy from a reputable brand. This is especially true of power supplies, including internal power supplies for your PC, or devices that have built in power supplies like TVs. Even cheap phone chargers (the wall warts, not the cords) are power supplies and can be dangerous. Avoid no-name knockoff brands from Amazon and even be wary of buying name-brand stuff from third party sellers and no-name websites because there ARE counterfeits out there that say they're a name brand product and even have the logo on it but they're counterfeit.

Haven't you ever wondered why they charge $20 for a phone screen protector and $40+ for a case? Because if they didn't then they'd make like $2 selling the phone itself and they wouldn't be willing or able to stock and sell phones.

Please do NOT be fooled by the low prices on brands such as TCL and Hisense. The old saying really is true when it comes to TVs (just like with anything else): You get what you pay for. Do yourself a favor and don't have to be the one that learns that lesson the hard way. Quality and reliability cost more. There's a reason for that.
