Does anyone know if this Hisense U8N (the 85” once it becomes available) is a decent upgrade from my 75” Sony Z9D from 2017? I wish I had the funds for the Sony Bravia 9 or even the Bravia 7, but my budget is $2,000. Thanks in advance for the replies!

I will say yes. It a 7 year gap in TV improvement. Yes, you could get one of 3 big TV brands. But they typically lacking compared to Hisense or TCL. However, beware of Quality Control issues. Watch sports like Hockey, Football, or Soccer to see the motion and color gradient.

@@mianlo2624 great, thanks for the confirmation. I know the Sony Z9D is a 7 year old TV, but believe it or not it was still beating any LED TV on the market a couple of years ago that’s the reason it took me this long to decide to upgrade to a bigger TV for my living room. I have a Sony OLED in my bedroom by the way.

Nope. Buy a Sony X95L or a X90L. It'll give you better processing than Hisense and be more colour accurate out of the box like you're used to with the ZD9. Don't delude yourself that a hisense will replace one of Sonys best ever TVs. Don't let anyone convince you of such. There's plenty of budget Sony options.

Hisense definitely upped their game with the U8N, curious to see what the differences are between the newly announced U9N. With the Sony Bravia 7, 8 and 9 recently announced too, it really now comes down to the value. Need to upgrade my LG 75inch that's 3 years old, the U8N is definitely in the lead, looking at the prices for 85 inch TV's, it'll be $2799, the Bravia 7 same size is $3499. And the U8N comes with surround sound built in, which is amazing for the price.

It's nice to see the other manufacturers stepping up their game. It certainly is so much better than the first 4khdr TV I had, the 55H8C that had horrible color balance but was uber cheap and looked acceptable for the price. It died 3 years in and they replaced it because it had a 4 year warranty. I've gone way above it with each upgrade but they aren't what they were back then luckily.

Hisense has really stepped it up the last few years, dating back to U7K. You can get a 75 or 85 for a great price. It’s the best all around tv that’s affordable. I own the U8K which is an amazing tv. Brightness, sound, gaming, and blacks, DV is there. Biggest issue with Hisense were the QA issues which can be remedy with protections plans.

Great video, TY. Any chance you know the depth of the metal base plate or maybe even the depth of the stand you put it on. I need to build a wall shelf for one of them (65U8N, 2024 Model). Customer service sucks. Forever to get person on phone. Then they have to send out a tech (about 10 days). The tech came, replaced entire TV other than panel (all boards and ribbon cables). Then he destroyed panel, then wait another 2 days for Hisense to reach back again. They issues refund via a check via snail mail, said it will be another 14-21 days to receive that. So in total, will be without TV for about a month. This was a U8H at 13 months old, 3yr warranty. Had to out-of-pocket money for new TV. Tech said they have issues big time when using wall mounts (U8H and older models) and that's what happened to mine, the screen just started looking dark and crappy in the center like the lcd was pulling apart from the weight when using a wall mount. If I could have able to justify the additional money, would not have been a Hisense, but am sure hoping the U8N will get better mileage by not using wall mount???

Obviously, miniLED is not WOLED, QD-OLED, or Tandem OLED...nor is it microLED. However, with all that said, Hisense and TCL are both bringing a fabulous bang for the buck quality to what was a relatively stagnant and boring LED LCD market for half a decade or better. For the vast majority of the viewing public, that's "enough". Thank you for continuing to review all segments of the market, Brian! Love your content and your overall attitude towards life, brother!

I thought you aid you would compare to the U8K in this video? I'm looking at 75" TVs. Right now, the U8K can be had for $1000 and the side feet would work with my setup. The U8N is $2000 and I would need a different mounting solution. I live in an old house and do not want to wall mount.. Are there any aftermarket solutions to convert this to a side foot like the older model? Is the 8N really worth double the price? Thanks!

I would never compare them without showing the U8N alone first. They are close. For you I'd grab the U8K and an after market Sanus stand and call it a day
@zackw4941
@zackw4941 4 месяца назад
@@BRIANSTECHTHERAPY Thanks for the input! The U8K does not need a new stand in my setup, the 8N does. So I'm leaning towards the U8K's extreme value.. Or hold out and see if A80L comes down closer to $2k in the coming months. If I'm spending north of $2K, I think I want a real OLED, as I don't have a very bright room and mostly watch in the evening anyway. My current TV is a 65" entry LEVEL Samsung QLED from 2018. It's served me very well and I'm not desperate to replace it. But I also know any decent, modern 75/77" should blow it out of the water.

hello brian , i had a u8kau 65 last year which was the oz & euro model , vidaa o.s , central stand , small sound bar on the bottom of it with a 2.1.2 speaker system . couple of things it did badly was the hdr10+ mode for films & tv series it had horrible backlight/local dimming control , the grey screen would stay on the hole screen then overlay staying on the screen then washing out the next film scene by staying on the screen , i had trouble with the hdmi cec & sending digital audio through the hdmi , optical cable would work fine . hrd10 had less problems than hdr10+ , D.V looked ok .hisense customer service was shit , so i took it back to the store for a return , maybe i got a bad panel , when i viewed it in store in store mode it looked fine , when i got it home it looked nowhere near like the store tv i had seen , the u8n looked nice in ur video , maybe when u do ur review on it at a later stage check all hdr formats are working correctly , i will be next i buy a tv from a store most likely a sony , thanks keep up the good work

@@Yoga_Tv_buying never touched it , it was out of the box a bad tv im pretty sure , didnt matter what mode the tv was in . when watching a movie , the film has breaks in play at the end of a scene or chapter , the screen will go black for 3 to 5 seconds then the picture will start again , when the scene stops and u get the black screen the tv would build up plasma gas behind the picture then it would stay on the screen and wash out the next scene from the movie

QUANTUM TV would not try the 65" or 75" Hisense model for comparison in-case he had a bad tv or wait until a firmware update, in the past a firmware update fixed all the issues but no he bagged the brand for all it's worth. I hope he makes more videos on the U8N after the firmware update. I plan on buying the 85" once I check it out in stores later this month, in Australia the 85" is $5000.

11:24 interesting. look at this frame and pause it and look beside the Mantis. That looks like it is the backlight pattern we can see. Each little square is the miniLEDs or a zone behind it. Unless it's a reflection in Brian's house that has that pattern. But it looks exactly like the pattern shown of their MiniLED backlight earlier in the video. It doesn't look like moiré pattern or pixels. EDIT: OK Brian said it's his camera. Weird pattern though. Looks like the demo of their own backlight. Didn't see that on any other TV filmed. That wouldn't be something I would want to see when watching TV. Otherwise the TV looks pretty good considering. The U9N would be even more special. Hisense is getting better every year. They now have improved their processing and even starting to use special image co-processors like Sony is doing. In a few years. They might be getting close. But not yet.
