I couldn't believe it when I came across this. My first husband and I lived in Bagdad one summer in 1968. We were only 17 and not married yet. We had run away from home, ( Dallis, TX), and went to Plattsburgh, NY. My mom lived there. We worked on a dairy farm. From Feb till May. then we caught a bus to Milton, FL where my dad lived My sister's family was already there and resided in Bagdad. So we went and lived with her. We had such a wonderful summer adventure. My husband worked the night shift at a truck stop, 12-hour shift, 60 cents an hour. My brother-in-law worked a 12-hour shift during the day. He made 50 cents an hour! What fun we had. So many wonderful places to swim. We ended up traveling all over Florida, not going back home to TX until fall. We got married in Nov. Boy was it hot in FL!
Thank you, Karla, this was a treat...I was feeling nostalgic and found this video by chance doing a search. When I saw the Blue House number 4538 with the flag out front I could not really believe what I was seeing. I lived there from 1968 to 1971 and went to the elementary school just a block away. I have many memories of living in that town on the edge of the Black Water River...Blessings,, j
