Henry Ford's Greenfield Village, also known as "The Henry Ford" in Dearborn Michigan, has been one of the most requested places for me to visit on Randomland, and today for the first time ever, I have finally made it to the amazing historical village comprised of 100 historic buildings such as The Wright Brothers bicycle shop, Henry Ford's Childhood Home, Abe Lincoln's courthouse and so much more.... SO much more in fact that I don't even know how to explain this place in words, it must be seen in the episode! It's not just buildings either! From Abraham Lincoln's Ford Theater chair to Rosa Park's famous Bus, from the Wienermobile and Rare Fords (Model A, Model B, Model S, Quadricycle etc) to Mold-o-Rama machines and amazing historical artifacts, the museum blew my mind! And all of this is without even mentioning epic Train rides and Model T rides, Omnibuses, a vintage Carousel, Edison's lab.... This is a doozy!

Check out Greenfield Village's Old Car Festival. It is a prewar car show with thousands of very unique cars scattered throughout the lawns. The owners often dress up and drive around the village. This includes steam cars and other cars you've never seen before! It's the ultimate car show.

No to be a bummer on this vid, but love your vids Justin, but some little extra history this important about Henry Ford and a history buff like you Justin I love history, the good, the bad and the ugly. Henry Ford was also a extremely anti-Semitism, and extreme racist, he funded both a anti semitic newspaper in America and also helped fund Hitler rise to power. Furthermore, he was also anti union and did anything he could to destroy pro union workers. Love your vids Justin keep making your awesome vids 👍🏽

When you go back, first make sure to have a couple of days to REALLY enjoy everything. and second, leave a few extra days to visit the Bavarian Village of Frankenmuth, about two hours north of the village. If you REALLY want to experience something special in Michigan, head about 4 hours north and see Mackinac Island, an important site during the war of 1812

The Henry Ford, and Greenfield Village are like nothing else. We’ve been going there for years, plus I’m a pretty big Ford fan. Some of the Model T’s used to give rides, were actually reproduced in 2003 for the 100th anniversary of The Ford Motor Company.

My husband and I used to work there! I managed the museum gift shop and my husband was a presenter in the village as well as a vintage baseball player. The best job ever! Jobs are part time there so we had to grow up and get full time jobs or honestly I’d still be working there! We have a membership and go quite often as we live 10 min away! It would have been exciting if we were there the same day you were. Wonderful video thank you

Ok, all of this video was spectacular, but I nearly jumped out of my seat when I saw the Mold-a-Rama! When I went to Disneyland as a youth, I got several of the iconic characters! I could smell the hot wax, as you were getting your own moulded prizes! What I wouldn’t give to have a moulded Mickey, Donald, or Goofy again!

If you ever want to come back, I would recommend Memorial Day because they have CW reenactors camp out all weekend, during the Christmas season because all the homes are decorated beautifully ( the village exudes Christmas magic), or in April because all the lambs at Firestone Farm have just been born so you can meet day old lambs.

Justin the reason why people learn these dark history because we never learned it in my generation and I am a millennial, and we must learn all history if not we are doomed to repeat it. But you are right we must look up to the good the good they did and learn from that, but do not idealize them. I absolutely love the fact that everywhere that the model tees drive, there’s like a trail of oil drops. So wholesome. And definitely gives off that Disney World vibe. This is a very good overview. Ford famously said, “You may have any color car you want, as long as it is black.” Most people do not know WHY Mr. Ford selected black. It was to simplify the manufacturing process AND because the black paint dried faster, thus, the automobiles could be produced more quickly (efficiently).

I grew up 10 minutes from the Village. The train whistles were just a part of daily life, as was the call of peacocks from the local high school named after Edsel Ford. You left out that the Model T's you could take a ride in were built brand new by Ford for their hundred year anniversary in 2003. Ford asked the government if they could make, and sell 100 Model T's for their 100 year anniversary, the government said great yes, then said no you can't sell those to the public. So Ford sent a few to corporate head quarters, then the others to the village. Ford searched all their factories for parts, and dies, they found they still had the most parts etc. to make the 1914 Model T. They didn't make all 100 when the government said stop you can't sell those.

To not acknowledge the bad along with the good; the dark history along side the accomplishments; the ugly, horrible with the amazing aspects, is detrimental. It is an disservice to memories of others who suffered to just say " we have to focus on all the greatness" so-so did. Whining about folks learning American "heros" are flawed is the reason we have issues today with folks accepting that you don't have to hero worship to understand history.

And what is really sad is that we have people today that actually want to step backwards and resegregate themselves. people need to go back and learn their history of such people like Rosa Parks and the Woolworth Lunch Counter protest and what sacrifices they did in order for them to have the freedom and rights they enjoy today. It's an absolute disgrace and insults of people like Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks what they're doing today
