Rising water levels across the Rainy River Basin this month have caused widespread flooding for resorts, cabin owners and residents in northern Minnesota, disrupting the start of the summer vacation schedule and creating uncertainty over the next several weeks.

Some family friends owned that place for a time back in the ‘80s. In 1988 it was the opposite. The water level of Rainy Lake was in question due to a generational drought that summer. Hopefully things straighten out and the new owners can settle in. It really is a fantastic place. So sad to see it flooded.

I've seen the yearly flooding for years but it's never been this severe. My son in law and daughter had to find their dock by canoe along with 2 medium size propane tanks and pull it back to the cabin . They fought the flooding but to no avail. The cabin is flooded . The family resort is flooded also . Insurance Companies are denying claims saying it doesn't cover this "Type" of flood damage . WTH is that crap 😳 flood damage was covered under these policies that were paid for . This may do the Falls in 😥

Insurance companies seem to have decided they do not want to keep paying claims on places that will be flooded again in another few years with all the massive rains these days

We're doing over time to keep the gravel going to keep up with the rising water. We're running 2 rock crushers to keep up hopefully by the end of July the water will go back down. God bless

Rather than complaining about the extra water, the state should start bottling the water up and sell, or store it, for the future. As longer the summer goes, the less rain the U.S. can expect.

I get it but there is a lot of deer elk and bears and wovles up there so the water is dirty they would have to boil the water to make it clean

Wish we could. Bummer to see Lake Mead so low. Last year was a severe drought and this year it is flooding over much of Minnesota. That is how we get average it seems.
