I am Cambodian and I know a bunch about history And also Cambodia has great food good culture and really great temples despite our terrible past we still had a great present day
10:53: Cambodians are a force for change, We swear to destroy all enemies, Harmonization makes us stronger, We sacrifice our lives for victory. The Cambodian Army is valorous, We cross all barriers, All enemies are destroyed, We bring precious freedom to the people. Cambodian heroes are aimed at our enemies, We swear to seek revenge towards them, Here the victorious red temple flag is erected, We lead the nation into happiness!
@@tobeytransport2802 the pro-Vietnamese government in (then) Kampuchea wasn't brutal nor oppressive. The population of Khmers in 10 years has increased from 6.7 million to 8.7, average life expectancy has risen from monstrous 22 to 53 years. All this was under conditions of international isolation and a severe economic crisis that affected Vietnam. People's Republic of Kampuchea was indeed authoritarian, but not brutal/opressive by any means.

8:20 When you successfully make a country so bad (Democratic Kampuchea) that people would rather live in countries like North Korea than in that country.
That’s because your odds of being killed in that regime were 1/3 and therefore pretty much everyone knew someone who was killed in that regime. 30% of the population was killed in Kampuchean communism.
8:20: The bright scarlet blood flowed over the towns and plains of our motherland, Kampuchea. The revolutionary blood of our workers and fighters, male and female. Their blood produced a great anger and the courage to contend with heroism. On April 17th, their blood freed us from the state of slavery! Hurrah, hurrah! Hurrah for the glorious 17th of April! That wonderful victory held more significance than the Angkor Period! We are uniting to construct a Kampuchea, With a new and better society, Democratic, egalitarian, and just, We follow the road to a firmly-based independence! We absolutely guarantee to defend our motherland, Our fine territory and our magnificent revolution! (Chorus) Hurrah, hurrah! Hurrah for the new Kampuchea! A splendid democratic land of plenty! We guarantee to raise aloft and wave our red banner of revolution! We shall make our motherland, beyond all others, Prosperous, magnificent, wonderful, hurrah!

There's something oddly terrifying about the "UN protectorate" part being completely silent right after the pretty uplifting anthem of the PRK, as if the country was literally just being turned off and on again like a wifi router, the silence being the interval between being turned off and waiting to turn on again.
When Cambodia was a protectorate... 🇺🇳UN: So Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, and Brunei...your first time being colonial leaders here in Cambodia? 🇵🇭🇹🇭🇲🇾🇧🇳Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, and Brunei: Yep! We were once colonized, but we colonize another! 🇹🇭Thailand: But I ain't colonized, but I'm happy to reoccupy Cambodia again...for now. 🇺🇳🇰🇭 Cambodia: Am I going to be fine?

Playing the national anthem of Siam for Cambodia is a bit like playing the German anthem for occupied Poland. Interestingly enough, Siem Reap means 'Siam vanquished". Perhaps the Lao anthem could be played for Iisaan, as it is historically Lao territory. Also, Democratic Kampuchea was overthrown on 7 January 1979, not in 1982.
Are you stupid? Cambodia was a vassal state of Siam in that time, if they are not use Thai anthem what do you want to use? For Siem Reap you can be name whatever you like when you are not a vassal state anymore or make up a story that you can defeat Thai army or whatever because in the real history Khmer didn't win over Thai in any war. That's why your country is so small compare to Thailand. Laos also a vassal state of Siam before French came.

Scary fact: Dap Prampi Mesa Chokchey was used to drown out screams of people being tortured at the S-21 Chamber and the killing fields. And to think that this was also played every 11PM and 4AM during the daily sign on and sign offs of the khmer rouge controlled radio broadcasts makes this worse to listen to most especially when you know the anthem begins with a scary sounding piano and a somber choir singing about blood flooding Kampuchea. You can really feel the sorrow and the horror everyone felt even in the anthem, and it's also one of the last songs many Khmer Rouge victims heard before being killed...
@Hans Reiner If u watch historical anthem of Malaysia there's a Japanese anthem during 1942-1945 So similarity should goes to Cambodia, as Indochina did invaded by Japanese Empire
