"But on the other hand, the handle of the weapon is waay to long, to belong to a sword." That is utter incoherent nonsense. Also, a polearm is a weapons that involves a pole, which the rhomphaia clearly doesn't. It is clearly a sword. It is not, in any possible/conceivable way, a polearm.
Not only the Rhomphaia is capable of slicing, slashing, chopping or hacking an enemy human, a war horse, or whatever it is capable of giving the opponent a slightly curved downward thrust. I found it weird at 1st but I believe with good training the user will be the master of the downward thrust.
@@jarlnils435 I was trying to keep on topic for the video but yes, getting hit with a modern weapon at least would be much better because in the modern day we have things like disinfectant...and also with modern weapons you're more likely to just die :p
I am surprised you missed to mention that it is forward curved. That is after all one of the most notable and important features of both the romphaia and the falx.
Bravo good job as always now it feels like your back on your normal time lol. Could u do a video on the Korean warriors (forgot there name not hard to look it up just surch (why can't I spell) Korean warriors) and Indian/Chinese
Getting there, im scheduled up now until novemeber, just need to make a few more videos and then thats all the year done. And i'll see what i can do :) Im going to do a focus on Ancient Indian units during the Helenistic age at somepoint, its just when i get round to writing the script :)
Loved the video, been very interested in this weapon since the Bannerlord 2 prerelease. Just a side note, Rome only used right handed soldiers to maintain shield formation integrity. When fighting one v one against left handed opponents like many gladiators, Roman soldiers faced a huge disadvantage from lack of training vs the opposite side.
different LUFs as the two were made at different times. My audio signal chain is a lot more advance now, compressors, limiters, noisegates, noisefilters, de-essers, so its a lot louder and clearer. :)
2 hands means no shield (or maybe could strap a tiny shield to arm), so much better for rough terrain than a flat field. (Rough terrain means can hide behind terrain against arrow volley and harder to use shield wall) Probably useful in peacetime like manchette for chopping through bush.
