There is nothing wrong with your presenting style. It's to the point, informative and has none of the irritation of the loud and infantile style of some presenters. Your posts are always of interest. Thankyou.

I am very grateful for the lack of stupid sound effects or “Teaser” lead-ups to well-known facts that just drag the video out. Some of these history channels are starting to sound like ms mojo bullshit, and some of us just….want to learn. I love the slideshow pics, although I would appreciate the names and dates lingering a bit longer, as reading via text form is the only way I’m able to commit something to memory, which is apparently a pretty common thing…maybe just dates added to the images in the slideshow?

Poor Cleo. I know how it feels to be accused of doing things like that. I'm a modern burlesque dancer and I've had people in my local community tell others I'm a prosti-cat. Im actually proud of the fact that I've only been with a few men. I hate people assuming stuff about me but humans love exciting gossip even if its totally fabricated. It's wonderful to hear that she may have been asexual! As an ace myself, I've struggled with people having this idea that if you're attractive, you can't be ace. As if others attraction to you negates your own feelings. Also, I think it's important to note that it was actually her friend, artist Paul Klee, that said she could have been asexual. I think he would have known far better than modern biographers. That's just my two cents.

I was looking at the many still photos of her on the internet before finding this on YT. As I began, I was wondering “what’s the big deal?” But then I became quite captivated. First - those eyes! So clear and large. Expressive in a hypnotic way. She has a modern eyebrow that is heavier than the very thin, manicured look that became popular later. The nose - without flaw. Chin - also perfect. A complexion unblemished and without visible makeup. The more I looked, I did begin to fall in love with photos around 120 yrs old. Quite amazing! I now understand how she could become an international celebrity.

I don't know if she would have been A sexual. Sometimes people can have a low sex drive etc. But its not unusual for popular and beautiful people to struggle in relationships. I think that the wrong type of people are attracted to them. If she was not easily fooled or fairly grounded she might not bounce from one bad relationship to another.

Paul Klee, who was her friend, said she "seemed asexual" in a 1902 diary entry. However, what asexual meant back then may have been different as to what it means today, so I am not sure how to interpret that. Modern biographers have theorized that she may have been a lesbian, which is ridiculous considering her long-term romantic involvement with two men.

I'm assuming they'd prefer something tighter like a sock bun or even a braid to avoid the potential of loose hair getting caught in machinery. Edit: There are tight chignons, obviously, but the style Cléo wore was noticeably very loose.

While I would agree that this documentary is impressively detailed and highly accurate, I must say that there is one reference which is incorrect. Toulouse Lautrec was not and is not known for his sculptures. He may have completed his last sculptures as a student in Paris, just as requirements of his training. It is not very likely that any sculpture by Lautrec was ever placed for public viewing. He is known and highly respected as one, and possibly the best, of the later Impressionist painters. He is known for his watercolor paintings, which were reproduced as lithographs, by a process which he developed and refined.

Your videos are always wonderful! It is no fault of yours that there is a rumor that she was asexual. I am sure it is trendy to recategorize everything as an unusual type of sexuality; perhaps she never married because the sculptor broke her heart? Ten years with her fiancé and then thirteen with de Perinat, and yet we're supposed to think she was not heterosexual.

Love your videos and work. i have myself investigate some of your persons. There seems to be some jewelry that belonged to her given by Leopold. Have you read anything about that? I my self are related to the opera singer Kristina (Christina) Nilsson, active during 19th century and there where romours about her and Napoleon III after he given her some jewelry to her. Is it possible that is the case also with Cleo, She had perhaps got some jewelry and after that the romours started. Leopold was very generous with given presents especially since he took all income from Kongo which he really treated in disgusting way with his punishment of black slaves. Specialty of punishment was to cut off the hands and feets of them.
@derblaueengel
@derblaueengel Год назад
Yes, Cleo actually said in an interview from 1897 that Leopold did give her gifts, which she accepted, but that she was only ever in the company of him when she was with her mother, she was never in a room alone with him.
