All I can say is I've always loved Wild Weasel and the Rattler. I also just realized it's based somewhat off of an A-10 in design which makes me love it more.
Wild Weasel has to be the best pilot in the ENTIRE Joe-Universe. He's gotten the better of "Ace" in a dogfight, flying an attacker aircraft vs a "Sky-Striker" which is a F-14 Super Tomcat..
@@JLSComics my favorite toy was the HISS tank for some reason' As an adult, I know it to be a REALLY badly designed tank but it looked so cool when I was a kid
@@dragonweyr44 i loved the HISS also.Mainly liked the Hiss driver.Thats like when i got the water moccasin.I think i was just as excited getting Copperhead. And then the Bridgelayer with Tollbooth who has an uncanny resemblance to Powers Booth lol.Who i used more as a pilot because Red Dawn coming out and the resemblance.Sorry rambling.Take care of each other :)
@@mattbarnes3467 same here.i begged every relative i had to get me either gi joe,Motm or transformers.I remember the smell.Goodness i loved that old time new toy smell lol
I remember getting The Rattler and Fang at the same time for my birthday. I loved those toys. And I really like your content, your research into each character is crazy detailed. Looking forward to the next one! Thanks!
Wild Weasel is LEGEND in the comics and the toyline. I don't care that I havnt got a Rattlor but I'm happy having the OG Wild Weasel in my collection....🚀
God, I hope he is the next haslab, Having a 1/12 scale A-10 warthog would be a dream comwe true. WIld Weasel will always be one of my favorite designs.
Every night I put a couple of your Who Is videos on to help me learn about the obscure Joes. It also helps me be more disappointed in Sigma 6 which is hilarious. Either way, if you keep making them, I'll keep listening.
Baron Vonreg on Star Wars Resistance bears a striking similarity to Wild Weasel, possibly as an homage to the fact that the Roboskull looked like a TIE fighter (which is what Vonreg flies). starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Elrik_Vonreg
bought a bargained cobra rattler, box was damaged but wild weasel wasn't included.. i loved that rattler with it's 3 engines and it's hovering feature.. also had had tons of missiles and bombs.. only issue was i forgot it had wild weasel..
Hellz Yeah!!! Just started the video and saw the Rattler action play vehicle, (which I had as an 80's kid,) so I know, already, that this video is awesome.
That RotoSkull looks Fing cool... could you imagine flying and seeing that thing vtol up out of the trees, obviously it’s hostile, obviously it’s out to kill.
Theory - in the Marvel comics Wild Weasel seemed to appear AFTER Scar Face (I cant remember his exact name but he had a pair of fang like scars on his face) disappeared and was part of Cobra Commanders OG inner circle. Same person maybe??? What ya think JLS?
A generic viper (strato viper), not an individual pilot, like Wild Weasel, Copperhead or Thrasher. Actually, I can't think of many other individual Cobra pilots/drivers. The Night Raven is easily my favorite vehicle in the entire line.
I remember my brother finding the rattler at a flea market and we already had a wild weasel figure that we go from another flea market for I think 25 cents if not 50 cents. And I would play with it all the time even though the rattler was in complete I think it was just missing missiles and other small pieces but it still had the cock put wind shield or hatch top.
The F4 Phantom was one of the worst fighter planes in the early days of Vietnam, primarily for the fact that it was never designed to be a fighter in the first place but an interceptor. its main function was to hunt do hunt down enemy bombers comparable in size to our B 52 Stratofortresses. it was forced into the role of a fighter because the US government, in their infinite wisdom, thought that with the advent of missile technology, no dogfighting between planes would ever occur again and designed the F4 without any guns, only missiles. unfortunately, like our torpedoes of ww2 they were never tested properly and they failed to fire or even hit a target over 75% of the time and enemy fighters soon realized this, knowing that if they could get close enough to our planes, they could shoot them down with impunity Navy, Air Force and Marine pilots actually had to strap on gun pods from wherever they could find them in order to survive dogfights against Washington's orders It is for this and many other incompetent decisions made by then Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara for singlehandedy losing the Vietnam war But then again, Lyndon B Johnson MAY be just as guilty of losing that was as much as McNamara for the same reason
I did. There were three main deficiencies of the F4 Phantom, no gun for dogfighting, missiles and it was too damn big and over-engineered for it's own good. It was MUCH too big for the aircraft carriers that launched them IMO
@@dragonweyr44 Was this the plane that had so many alerts and alarms that the pilots turned them off and checked for SAMs coming out of the jungle visually?
