To this day, Backlash is one of my all-time favorite characters.! Years ago, I created a comic character loosely based off of him.

I loved Backlash. I collected his series years ago. Also collected Grifter's books as well. Hope Backlash appears in Aquaman to mention ancient Atlantis. Contrary to what many think, the more Wildstorm accurate versions of many such characters who were introduced into DC via n52 are still in the DCU as evidenced by Midnighter's appearances since Rebirth.

He was a great character. Wildstorm was the best universe (pre DC). Brett Booth was one of the best IMAGE artists.

I completely agree. The Image run of the Wildstorm characters and universe were so awesome back in the 90s. With that being said, I’ll never understand how and why Jim Lee left Image and sold his Wildstorm Studio IP to DC Comics. In reality he left Marvel to start Image so that comic artists could create and retain the rights to all their characters. So what does Jim Lee do!? He leaves Image to work at DC ( One of the enemies) so he can end up selling all his character IP. To me it sounds hypocritical.-

@@archangel5627 Well, Lucas ended up selling his IP's also. I guess if need is there and the money is right.... The Wildstorm Universe was awesome. DC then proceeded to pick and choose which characters they thought they'd use and kill off a majority of the rest. It was disheartening to say the least.

Booths art is literally the same today, he's still great. His new 52 flash stuff is god tier. No one in history has come close to capturing what makes the flash cool, art wise, as booths. No one has done speedsters better. I mean, not one artist

@@archangel5627 He's a man, and you are allowed to change your mind dude. Imagine if you were bound to decisions you made as a kid, and had to stick with it. Sounds stupid right? So why do you apply that to Jim? Why can't he grow and change his mind and life?

Hey Mr JLS, I’ve got 2 small questions for ya: Have you ever thought about doing revised and expanded versions of your older G.I Joe History videos? If so, which of these characters would you want to do first; Snake Eyes, Scarlett, Cobra Commander, Stalker or Baroness? (This message was initially sent to your Instagram...until I saw that it had been a while since you used it, as such; I’ve taken the liberty of reposting the questions here in the effort of you possibly having a larger chance in seeing them. Sorry for any possible inconveniences, Nerdmaste to you!)

Aside from several errors, and separate continuity that was mashed together, well done!

Calaburst Thanks! I chose to fit some of the older “Team” stuff together because it fit together so well narratively even though some was Image and a couple on things I mentioned were from DC’s Wildstorm.

I am a bit confused i believed i learned about his daughter in the Fire fromheaven crossover event. I am just a filthy Dutch fellow that grew up in a single mother minium wage householt and for most only read a translated version of Gen 13. But from the start Team 7 peaked my intrest. Likely because gijoe became absend arround that time.

James Tynion should bring him back to fight Deathstroke in the joker war. If he could regenerate to his younger self after his death and he resumed his role And decided to help Batman. That would be dope.

@@jonathansoko1085Jim Lee sold out big time. He did the very thing he was so passionately against considering he was one of the founding members of Image Comics. I guess money is everything. That’s why I lost all respect for the guy.

@@jonathansoko1085 nothing in the world wrong with liking different things, my dude! Personally, I thought it was kind of just like if Rob Liefeld and post-dkr Frank Miller had a baby who was unfortunately slightly retarded, then it grew up and got to do a Wolverine comic.
@jcaseyjones2829
@jcaseyjones2829 Год назад
But those 90s Image comics were all like that. Slightly retarded X-Men, slightly retarded Superman, slightly retarded Avengers.. Did you read Wildstar, for instance? Someone tossed Cable and Venom into the Grundle telepods and what came out the other side got a 4 issue miniseries and then an aborted full series. It's just the 90s, man.
@jonathansoko1085
@jonathansoko1085 Год назад
@@jcaseyjones2829 Yeah there was bad stuff in the 90s, but hte 90s also had some of the best stuff ever at the same time, especially in the art dept. I just dont see how backlash was ever bad, especially when booth was drawing. IT was never life changing, but it was good fun. I dont look for every comic to be an alan moore deconstruction of comics and a meta commentary about how he hates comics and the people that read them. If i get good art and a competent story, im pretty happy.
@jcaseyjones2829
@jcaseyjones2829 Год назад
@@jonathansoko1085 I suppose it comes down to what you think of as a good story. Listen, I can be overly critical, I was serious about everyone liking different things. To me, Backlash had a couple interesting ideas that were done much better in other books and a whole lot of really generic "one hero against the world" stuff. I thought Amanda was cool. I wasn't a fan of the daughter. I thought the furries we're really, really cringe. The "guy at the computer" was just Weasel in a wheelchair with one tenth the charisma, and he came first! The Daemonites were already old hat and I thought the Kherubim connection was weak. It was weird when Slaton was written and sometimes even drawn as an old man and he was still with Amanda. Slaton was Cable in a skinny Spider-Man body with whips instead of webs. In fact, almost everyone had the exact same body type. Faces were very similar unless they were furries. Especially on the women, if you printed that book in black and white and gave them similar hair it would be impossible to tell them apart. I could go on.. And yet when it was in print I was a teenager and I love tf out of it. Otherwise I wouldn't be here.
