I absolutely agreed. The History parte Is very interesting, I studied a bit of Minoan When kid plus saw some TV documentari about the city buried by ashes. If I'm not wrong they had hot water in house, running in pipes made of terracotta and way before Roman did something similar.
I liked the history lesson :) I think it's nice when you talk about things in your videos. The music however felt a little unnecessary, but above all too loud. I needed to lower the volume during that part and then raise it again when you started talking.
I love archeology as well. Listening to you talk about the culture and art work you can hear in your voice how excited and passionate you are about the subject! The pony looks amazing!
I absolutely love learning about ancient civilizations! Minoan art is absolutely stunning! I adore this custom, I can’t wait to see what cool customs you do in the future!
As someone who also has a background in archaeology I have to say that I absolutely LOVED this design, I always enjoy your work but it was really nice to hear about the time period and to see how that influenced what you made. I think this is my favourite pony yet!
i've never heard of the minoans before but it was incredibly interesting hearing you talk about them! i also really love history and all that so i'll definitely do my own research on them :] the pony also looks incredible!
loved hearing all the history and incorporating it into the design! it would be so cool if you did more videos like this, whether from minoan culture or other ancient civilizations that interest you
Exciting! I always liked the big brother ponies. They are modeled after heavy draft horses and I have a serious soft spot for the drafts. I think he turned out beautifully. Since I enjoy watching Tasting History and other history channels I found this Minoan pony video quite interesting. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing more history inspired ponies with a history lesson voice-over. Have you ever thought of doing a self-portrait pony?
Every upload from you is a gift. It's been awesome to watch you grow as an artist over the months I've been following you, and it inspires me to try picking up something new myself. Keep up the great work, and thanks for sharing your passion for archaeology with us!
Nice to have you back, this pony came out great! I love the wavy braided hair :D And it was really neat to learn about the Minoans, I'd never heard of them before!
I absolutely loved this video! I'm studying early middle european bronze age but I had some classes about the minoan culture (especially about their art) and I can totally understand why one would love that culture! The pottery is absolutely amazing (some pics have been going around on Twitter a few weeks ago and ppl absolutely loved them as they should) but especially the wallpaintings are so stunning and vibrant! Also it's so amazing that through these you can see what people were wearing all those years ago and that they really had style! I'm totally down for more videos like this one and I'd love to see a pony inspired by the vibrant and colorful wall paintings Also fun fact! Their writing system is called Linear A and as it was said we can't read it sadly. It was succeeded by Linear B which was used by the Mycenaeans which was deciphered. They wrote on clay boards and Linear B was used for administrative purposes
i love having the history audio! anything that lets us know what thoughts and whys are behind your choices are fun to hear, keep it up! I'd love to see a spring pony with tiny 3d printed flowers all over where its cutie mark is. Maybe a soft green with white hair and pastel rainbow flowers?
This is so cool! I’m so happy to find a combination of two of my interests: My Little Pony and ancient civilizations. I’ve just recently been studying the Minoan frescoes for art and they’re so stunning. Please make more like this! I really enjoyed this, it was nice to hear you talk about history while working on a custom
I would love to see this done with more ancient cultures! It’s clear that you’re super passionate about this topic, and it was really fun to learn about, so this is definitely viable for a series! :)
What a beautiful pony and such interesting history. I definitely like stuff like this. I myself have always been very interested in ancient Egypt, such fascinating stuff.
Minoan civilization is so fascinating! With every discovery we end up with more questions than answers. Hopefully we'll be able to decipher their writings in the future. Great pony! I think it'd be super cool if you did other historical ponies like this, maybe while sharing facts about the civilization involved. I'm a history geek, so I love hearing about it.
I absolutely ADORED this! As another student of archaeology, who's path took them in another direction, this brought me joy and made me smile. Never apologize for your voice! Or for talking when you have something to say
Wow, this is beautiful! UGH, I love the way you made his little waves... Don't get me started on the cutie mark! 😫 This one is super creative and it turned out so good! 💖💕💓
I'd love to see more like this. I love learning about stuff and it was such a nice treat. The octopus' eyes are SO cute. And also I hope you make a pony with lots of braids. Kinda like how you set the hair up to add the wave to it. it'd be super cute. anyway, lovely video as always.
Love this so much! I'm going into archaeology and studied the Minoans in a class last semester! I love seeing the way you combine your passions like this
I love history too! I blame the Percy Jackson books I got ever since middle school and still love them! Almost made me pursue something in history as well but I ended up pursuing graphic design and arts, very happy with it but loving and learning history is still my hobby! Thanks for this wonderful video!!
Te felicito! Me encanta que mezcles arte, aprendizaje y ponys! Soy profesora de Arte y me emociona esa melange. El pulpo está genial. Está a la venta aún? Si no es así, se puede pedir uno? Me encantó!!
Ive somehow stumbled upon your channel and have loved binging your restoration and customization videos! This is my favorite custom you have done so far that ive seen! I was thinking it would be cool if you revisited this pony and maybe painted her hooves gold? Just a thought! Love the videos, and love your work! 💖
this is absolutely fascinating and its really cool that you could incorporate all of this into such a lovely pony! archeology is something i always love to hear about, even though i dont get to often, so learning all of this was really neat and exciting to me! would love to hear more about other things youve learned! and also thats super cool that you and your brother get to go on trips like that! also as someone who adores ancient egypt, id love to see you make a pony with that theme someday! (:
How am I just finding you! I love how you present your videos. Your ponies and restorations are amazing! I could listen to your stories and history all night! Thank you!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Woo, archaeology and anthropology degree! I also went into a creative field as well (copywriting) but I'm still grateful for the education AND the fieldwork experience! I did my field school in Belize, on a pre-classical Mayan city site!
...loving it the blank ponies...they great to DIY..but where can we get it?...and i stiLL waiting you doing the she ra doLL repair and custome...LOve Love Love what you doing gurL...i also enjoy history thanks for the sharing info...
Amazing work with the octopus and the hair styling! As an art history lover, I don't think i've ever been so excited for a custom pony concept! 😍 An Egyptian themed custom pony would be to die for if you continue this series! Or an ancient American culture like the Mayans, Incas, Aztecs maybe? 💙💛💙
When I was a kid I really wanted to become an archeologist too. I just loved history and story about it. Especially about Egyptians and Greeks. But I realize that it's more difficult than I though and I really didn't knew that I should study on college. My mom mentioned that maybe a graphic designer and I love computer games so I chose that.
I really liked learning about the Minoan civilization! I haven't been this amazed and intrigued by the stories from that zone since reading greek mythology by myself as a child! Very nice pony! Makes me want to draw a minoan inspired character!
I LOVE this so much omg??? This is such a cool idea!! Historical themed ponies...hell yes. I've been lucky enough to visit both Knossos and the site of the Palace of Malia in Crete before, the Minoan civilisation is genuinely fascinating!!
Thank you for such interesting historical video. I think also one would be about Egypt? 😊 I was in Egypt only once, but this was very impressive travel for me.
I actually knew about the Minoans from a video by Trey the Explainer (who I highly recommend you check out if you’re a history/archaeology enthusiast). I didn’t think they would be brought up in a pony ooak video of all thing, but I love it! The pony design turned out great and I love the octopus symbol you gave it!
Crafts and archaeology, two of my favourite passions omg!!! As soon as I saw the word Minoan and this shade of blue, I was like "'yes. yes this is right", it's the blue of the leaping bull fresco, you know? I'm always so blown away by the bright colours of Minoan art and architecture- I know people say classical Greece had lots of colour, there's residue on the white statues etc, but it's hard to imagine. With Minoan culture, the colours haven't aged a day, it's astounding! (Although Atlantis isn't a legend, or a mythical story: Plato invented it as a made-up place to compare to Athens, and hundreds of years later, some europeans went "ah, it's a real place and that's where white people come from, and that's why white people are better!" It's just a metaphor that spun wildly out of control, and is usually used by white supremacists as justification. And then to try and tie it to the Minoans, the people who do that are basically muddying what little we know about the Minoans to back up their racism... It's depressing, honestly.) (I don't mean to be preachy, but I think it's important for average people who aren't racists to be educated about the origin of the Atlantis "theories", so we don't accidentally back up their bullshit- pun not intended)
Loved the art and the history. The Minoans are actually mentioned in a passage of the Bible - God saying he brought the Caphtorites out of Crete and settled them in Philistia. This as part of what I recall as being a poetic lament for the Philistines. I wish I were more of an antiquities scholar. I know the Egyptians didn't have a high opinion of the Sea Peoples, as they called them. But you're right, they probably were the source of the Atlantis myth.
I'm so happy to see you post again ^_^ But you were away for awesome things, and that's always a great reason to miss someone :) Your octopus was so beautiful, it's really my favorite part of the pony. It looked so... ink-y ! And the details were amazing, I can't believe you repeated the process on the second butt cheek ! It had a scary vibe to it, until your started adding the eyes and then it magically became adorable ! The hair really was amazing, I really wish more ponies had a mane like that. I never wanted to be an archaeologist, but I wanted to be a paleontologist at some point. Problem is, I'm better suited for learning languages and there wasn't a lot of options in that field for someone with my particular set of skills XD I love the idea that we have so much to learn about the past of this planet, and that we'll never know the true extent of it. For dinosaurs, for instance, we are STILL learning things all the time (new species, new physical characteristics of existing ones, etc.), and we'll never have all the answers (we'll never know what a dinosaur sounded like, for instance). It's the same with ancient civilization, although to a different scale ; they did leave things behind, including art, that gives us a slight advantage in understanding them, but so much is lost in time forever... and it's kinda poetic how we still look for clues nonetheless. 100 years will never tell us the whole story, we'll always be missing pieces, but I love that in 100 years the answers we will have will still not be enough and there'll be people trying to find out even more, just like today. I think an "Ancient Ponies" series is definitely in order.
Oh this was a lovely recommendation by RU-vid for me. I was lucky enough to visit the site of Knossos in the 90s! It was absolutely fascinating. This video rejuvenated those memories for me, thank you.
Te quedó muy bonito, me gustó mucho como lo hiciste. Y aunque no pude entender mucho porque soy de Ecuador y no estaba los subtítulos si vi como lo ibas haciendo. Saludos
I love this combination of creativity and archeology! I haven't studied ancient cultures in a school setting but have been interested in the subject since childhood, and was lucky to have access to books about ancient civilzations. The Etruscans,Celts,Egyptians etc,and including the Minoans.I love what you did with the pony:the octopus cutie mark, and the beautiful black curling hair.I see this was posted five months ago so I don't know if you did another pony based on the Minoans or any other ancient culture, but I'd love to see it if you did/do.
I love this custom pony, and also enjoyed your history lesson! I have always liked history and would have loved to study archeology (many other things as well, if I could just take courses without having to pay and do homework I would, lol). I knew about the Minions and a lot of the art (my major in college) you referenced, and I even knew about the Santorini volcano, but I had not heard about Akrotiri, that must be an amazing place! The octopus cutie mark is great!
I absolutely love this pony! I am also a frustrated archeologist lol loved the history aspect, the Minoans are fascinating & still so mysterious. Beautiful work 😊
I do actually remember learning about the Minoans, even though we only touched on them a tiny bit in history class! I remember them because we saw some examples of their artwork, and I really liked their paintings of dolphins, and I thought that there should be a dolphin Pokemon based off of Minoan artwork, lol. So anyway, I really love this custom! He turned out great, and his mark looks amazing!
Since you are interested in ancient cultures and archaeology, I wonder if you’re familiar with the Scythian civilization? I recommend looking them up if you haven’t, I find them really fascinating ☺️
Thank you so much for sharing your love of the Minoans! I know next to nothing about them, so getting to hear some amazing facts while you customized the My Little Pony was fantastic! It would be amazing if you did more videos like this one ^~^
More videos like this please!!! I love your content anyway but being a history buff too I enjoyed this even more! I love watching history stuff and never really knew much about the minoans so I’m definitely going to watch some stuff on them . Thanks ❤
I absolutely love the idea that the Minoans might have been an empire that required tribute from other, smaller places. And that the tribute could have included slaves in addition to other goods. Or human sacrifices. It's not like we can definitely say they didn't do that. A story about a required tribute to a previously more powerful but now destroyed civilization that really liked bulls and complex buildings could have eventually turned into a story about a Heroic Prince of our city who defeated a bull monster in an underground maze and defeated a powerful evil civilization that stole our children could have grown from something real about the Minoans and I both love that this is completely possible and hate that we'll probably never know for sure (And the thing about Minoans possibly being the Sea People. Or part of them)
As someone else who loves history, the history lesson was awesome. I have always theorized that the Ancient Greeks came up with Minotaur as a word from a derivative of Minoan, so that makes a lot of sense to me. I have also seen things regarding the bull leaping (a special on History Channel or one of the other Discovery Channels, I think). Anyway, the Pony is fantastically done, as are all of your projects. Thank you for sharing all of this with us. Can't wait to see what you come up with next!
I absolutely love this! I had wanted to be an archaeologist when I was younger as well but unfortunately didn't get the grades required. I was obsessed with egyptology. And the Minoan history is also very very interesting. This is a beautiful pony.
Maybe the crossover between people who like MLP and people who like Minoan civilization is not huge, but I am one of those people so it was wonderful to see your interpretation. This Minoan big brother is amazing!
This is gorgeous! As a graphic designer/student I seem to find myself researching previous civilizations for inspiration!! So sweet to learn about one I haven't heard of before while watching the process of a wonderful custom!!
Hello, i'm new to pony restoration, i've recently got a Moondancer and she has that problem of ingrained dirt/dust in her plastic (it looks like small grey-ish particles), i'm not sure how to remove it, washing, acetone and medicine alcohol didn't help. Do you have any tips?
Oh definitely continue with the voice overs!! I really liked learning about your past and hearing about one of your favorite cultures from an archeological and art history POV Keep up the great work!!
Omg. I am beyond speechless. As you told me about the Video and playing it on repeat, i was like: "oh yes" and Hearing you talk about the culture, i was like "sooo much yes, i can't" i am obsessed with the ancient greece culture, i didn't study, i am just very intersseted. And i learned so much. And the Pony is so so beautiful, i really wish there would be more Ponys related to old culture. Maybe with a lot more practice i can do one too ❤️ Anyways, i loved the Video and the voice over.
As someone who went to school for art it was a nice refresher to listen about Minoan art again. I love the pony! I think it looks fantastic! (Don't forget to wear gloves when using Miliput though! You don't want to develop an allergy or have a skin reaction.) I was always fascinated with archeology and anthropology. I took a bunch of anthropology classes in college by one professor who had actually lived with tribes in the South American jungles. He was a hoot and always had the best stories. He actually emailed me occasionally after I had to quit school due to chronic health problems. Such a nice guy.
Absolutely lovely video! The pony looks fantastic and I loved hearing about the history of the Minoans, a culture I knew absolutely nothing about! It's so nice hearing about people's passions and how much you clearly love this culture and history. Would definitely love to see more customs and hear more about things that you care about while you work! 😊
Watching your videos are my favorite part of the week. So relaxing and enjoyable. I love how you break down the process. I love how you are so good at what you do but are still learning it's amazing.
Hi! I was wondering if you could offer some advice. Do you know if this method of rehairing works on the Basic Fun ponies? I was brushing one of mine recently and tugged a little too hard on a tangle by mistake, and three hairs were pulled out. I kept the hair so I have been considering trying to fix her, but I wanted to make sure it was safe to do so and wouldn’t cause further damage beforehand. Thank you.
This video was a crossover of interests I didn't expect but very much enjoyed. I love learning about ancient history as well as how to customize old toys! I think it would be cool if you made a series out of this, if you have any more ideas about Minoan or other ancient civilization-inspired customs. Keep up the great work as always!
I think you're a storyteller and I like very much to hear your stories and explanations. I feel like this particular pony needs some black dots or something in terms of face makeup but overall it's a wonderful job you did! Thanks
This video was so good !! I didn’t know about the Minoans at all and I definitely look into cause the artwork you showed were amazing :)) Love this custom poney too !
I got a new job about six months ago, and i get to listen to music or podcasts while i work. So i've been binge listening to history podcasts and absolutely love when i see subjects like this pop up. One that I listened to anout the minoans was by Our Fake History, where he dives about the story of the minotaur, the Minoan culture and their love of bulls. But it's absolutely wonderful to hear you talk about subjects you love, and I greatly appreciate the inclusion of images. It's hard to see the scope of the beauty in the art and architecture of a civilization in a podcast 😆
