Those who compare Longs political work with fascism have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. Long, unlike Hitler and Mussolini, acted strictly within the rules of the constitution, his person and his actions were constantly under the scrutiny of his opponents and he was at all time liable to follow the law. He never used or called for violent action of his followers to achieve his goals. He fired plenty of folks in the administration from the "old-boys-network" that were either incapable or unwilling to implement the changes he demanded to be executed, according to the promises he made to his electorate. What is wrong about that? Huey Long is one of the truly great Americans, up there with General Smedley Butler, whose writings should be part of the lecture of every schoolchild in the world. Just imagine what a man like Long would have done if he was in the shoes of Bernie Sanders in 2016! Todays Democrats are a disgrace and a danger to the entire world and the people who fall for their bloody stinking lies are a bunch of insane idiots with no heart, no brain, no guts no balls, no NOTHING!
Huey Long was... the right man at the right time. He actually prototyped quite a few programs that would become part of the New Deal and the Second New Deal. He is also a man that was raised in rural Louisiana, which was FUCK poor in those days. That galvanized him to become an American success story that was, basically, pulling a pre-senile Bismarck in the US. He also started many things that we take for granted today. Literacy programs? He started them. School children getting free textbooks? He started it. Turned the entire swampland of Louisiana into something navigable by land and created the road system in the process? ... you see where I'm going right? EmperorTigerstar has a video on the man that is rather enlightening...
@@NoOne-kr4jc it was the fear of what Long would do next that really rattled the rich up. His 'Share Our Wealth' idea was rapidly gaining steam, he had an iron grip on the Louisiana legislature and was really popular with everyone but the rich folk...
@@NoOne-kr4jc from what I've heard, sharecropping was a problem with no real immediate solutions. It is also a very profitable enterprise overall, which made it extremely hard to crack down on. Really it wasn't until farming got reworked completely after the Dust Bowl that the practice started to actually die.
I'd vote for Long today, but can't cause I ain't an American. Had he lived, today would have been different in a way we will never know. Long was a fellow who, as all politicians do, rode a spirit of his day and got himself killed doing it.
Garbage statement, Father Coughlin, and Huey Long were not demagogues! The American people flocked to them, because they said the truth, and cared about the well-being of the American. Which is next to impossible to see in politicians, and government.
Haha some might say that there's a difference between someone who actually had political and administrative accomplishments and someone who perverted Catholicism to play apologist for the radical modernity of fascism.... But hey, To each his own
nikki isntdum You couldn't place me on your prewritten, allotted think tank that you call a political line. Huey P. Long's assassination is a good example of what happens when people question thier masters rule. I suggest you stop thinking that doing jumping jacks for your puppet master as being well learned, as you put it "politically literate". If you clicked on my RU-vid page then you would have found out your wrong, and you might have learned enough to get out of your thought prison, to learn sound economics. My first comment to you got deleted instantly by the overlords you serve, wake up man, they have a blind fold on you please remove it for your own good, and the good of society.
How? Huey Long would be called a radical marxist communist socialist today. His redistribution of wealth is the antithesis of trump. Huey was the most left leaning politician to ever take power in the US.
