The Portuguese ( Portugal was created in 1143) drove out the Moors in 1249. It took the future country of Spain (Spain became a country in 1492) another almost 250 years to expell the Moors from their lands.
I enjoyed this. I especially loved the images and artwork that came with the history. History always has more impact when you can visualize what has occurred. Hope you and your family are doing well. Take care.
@@madaboutmadeira9225 I felt like the title and the rolling text in the prologue inferred that the small Caribbean island in question was Madeira. So it was confusing based on my RU-vid search on Madeiran History when I discovered that the video was on European naval battles of the Carribean in the 18th century. I enjoyed the video !
@@cathythomas2692 ah, I see. I actually snuck in this video to fill in some downtime. It really has nothing to do with Madeira, per see, other than the fact the British may have used or passed through Madeira headed to the Caribbean. Also, I believe the leader of the Portuguese reconquest of Recife (Brazil) was from Madeira, so there's that.
@@madaboutmadeira9225 yes the information is amazing tho. It explained how much control Jews had over the Caribbean islands etc. history we were never taught
This video does not say anything about where these jews originated from. Or why they were fleeing persecution., Let's start with Morocco and why the King gave them 14 days to pack their bags and leave. They had high positions of power and trust in the kings Moroccan administration and they somehow managed to turn the king completely against them. He was their friend and their families had been close for 100s of years.. What did the King find out that made him banish every single jew and they fled to Spain.
