@@ufhb6649 I respect that. But tbh, I view it similar to "victories" in WWI. How many bodies did it take just to take a few measly yards? Finland may have lost, but I don't necessarily think you could say Russia "won" either.
Travis L well, I may be wrong but I remember that the Soviet Union’s objective was to get the German forces out of Finland, and that they succeeded. But it’s true that they lost countless lives for a small territory.
@@ufhb6649 Yeah. That's not correct. Close. But a few details were wrong. 1- Finland was neutral toward the Axis and Allies prior to Russia invading them. 2- Russia invaded Finland because they wanted to set up a buffer zone between them and Germany since through Finland was the closest route to Moscow (or Stalingrad i think). 3- Finland eventually sided with Germany and declared war on Russia (the Continuation War) because when they asked the Allies for help during the Winter War, the Allies weren't able to reach Finland to offer much support. While siding with Axis forces however, they were focused entirely on reclaiming the territory Russia had stolen from them back during the Winter War. Nothing really beyond that.
