Your lecturer is Dr. Brian Warriner. He has been an active clinician and teacher in the University of British Columbia for years. He has published in various medical journals and was head of different anesthesiology departments. Dr. Warriner’s research is focused on the use of blood substitutes in surgical patients, the value of preoperative beta blockers, the reversal of muscle relaxants and the prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting.

Crawford Long, a UPenn trained physician operating in Georgia, was the first to use sedation in the Western hemisphere. He was using ether during procedures as early as 1842 as evidenced by a bill he produced from that time and sworn testimony of his patients.

The problem with chloroform anesthesia is that it needs to be titrated with air/oxygen (to prevent hypoxia). Dr. Otto Roth, a German surgeon, in collaboration with Heinrich Dräger (whose company still exists today) developed an anesthesia machine using chloroform anesthesia.

Hello, does nitrous oxide given under general anesthesia and by intubation cause an increase in volume in the uterus of female patients? Does it cause bloating and accumulation like intestines in the uterus?

i thought it was james simpson who was at a party with his friends experimenting on chemicals and his wife found him and his friends passed out on the ground not Horace wells
