To set the record straight, I have learned in recent years that the sound version of MY OLD KENTUCKY HOME was not originally produced under the Fleischer brothers, but was a re-release with new animation added to the Bouncing Ball footage of the silent 1926 version released in 1929/30 by Alfred Weiss. Max and Dave Fleischer had already left Weiss and formed Fleischer Studios in 1929. Records now show that the first Ko-Ko Song Car-tune with sound was a sound version of COME TAKE A TRIP IN MY AIRSHIP released 1/15/1925. This is not to be confused with the 1930 remake for the Screen Songs series. As for Max "sleeping" with Dave's Receptionist, I don't know who told you that. I knew Dave's daughters who told me a lot of intimate details, and I can tell you with credible authority, that is NOT what happened. Both men had problems with their wives at this time in their lives, but it was how they managed them that was the issue.
Popeye first mentioned spinach in the comic strip in 1931. He first was seen eating spinach to build up his strength in early 1932. (That year was when Bluto first appeared in the comics.)
I wonder how viewers were able to connect the timeline of this history with these clips. Many are out of context. Some of the clips of POPEYE and SUPERMAN are from Famous Studios, not Fleischer. But thank you for buying my DVDs and my book, which it seems you have referenced. There are other RU-vid posts with good information.
