Well done … any advice about femoral traction and tong head traction before we start the surgery? What are the common weights that we can apply? Very nice and informative presentation in a very short time . Excellent
Nice presentation dr, but why exactly is the use of thoracoplasty for rib hump correction back in the harrington rod and luque wires era a problem. Even to this date we know that thoracoplasty is superior compared to the most up to date direct vertebral derotation methods for rib hump correction.
I have not done a thoracoplasty for a typical AIS ever. It is not necessary with modern instrumentation. Also thoracoplasty will compromise pulmonary function.
i understand but sometimes this is what it takes to get substantial and even total elimnation of the rib hump for those with stiff rib cages and large thoracic curves. Does the pulmonary function compromise outweigh the cosmetic advantages, and does the pulmonary function loss permanent or just temporary and returns back to normal pre operative levels for the patient?@@DrKshitijChaudhary
